Description
Process for the preparation of an azo dye. The present patent relates to a process for the production of an azo dye, characterized in that the monooxamic acid of the 4th 4 '- diamino- 3. 3 '- dimethyldiphenyl -1 .1' - cyklohexaris dianotized and with 1- (p-toluenesulfo-amino) - 8 - naphthol - 3. 6 - disulfonic acid couples.
After isolation and drying, the dye thus obtained forms a dark, brown-red powder which dissolves easily in water and dyes wool from an acid bath in luminous, bluish red shades of very good wash, milled and lightfastness.
The dye can be converted into another by treating it with saponifying agents, the diazo compound of which can be combined with any coupling components and, for example, when coupling with 2.8 - dioxynaphthalene - 6 - sulfonic acid, yields a disazo dye that turns wool into yellowish milluride stains lightfast tones.
Example: 36.6 parts of monooxamic acid of 4.4'-diamino - 3. 3'-dimethyldiphenyl -1.1'-cyclohexane are dissolved in water with the necessary amount of ammonia while warming. With cooling, a concentrated aqueous solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite and then 52 parts of hydrochloric acid of the spec. Weight 1.16 added all at once.
The diazo association is partially eliminated. To end the dianotation, stirring is continued for a short time and the diazotization liquid is then allowed to run under ice cooling into a solution of 48 parts of 1- (p-toluenesulfo-amino) -8-naphthol-3. 6 - disulfonic acid containing excess soda. The dye formation will soon end.
