Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines Gemisches zweier Ringketone der aromatischen Reihe. Gegenstand dieses Patentes ist ein Ver fahren zur Darstellung eines Gemisches zweier Ringketone der aromatischen Reihe von nachstehenden Formeln:

welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass man Crotonsäure, Brombenzol und Aluminium chlorid bei höherer Temperatur aufeinander einwirken lässt. Das Produkt soll zur Her stellung von Farbstoffen Verwendung finden.
<I>Beispiel:</I> Zu 134 Gewichtsteilen gepulvertem Alu miniumchlorid und 420 Gewichtsteilen Brombenzol werden unter Rühren bei ge wöhnlicher Temperatur allmählich 45 Ge wichtsteile Crotonsäure gegeben. Man stei gert die Temperatur allmählich bis auf 100 und darüber und hält sie einige Stunden. Sodann giesst man auf Eis und destilliert mit Wasserdampf, wobei anfangs Brom benzol, dann ein Gemisch der oben angegebe nen Ringketone übergeht.
Das Produkt ist bei gewöhnlicher Tem peratur flüssig und wird beim Abkühlen teilweise fest. Es ist farblos, in Wasser, Alkalien und Säuren nahezu unlöslich, in organischen Lösungsmitteln verhältnismässig leicht löslich.

which is characterized in that crotonic acid, bromobenzene and aluminum chloride are allowed to act on one another at a higher temperature. The product is intended to be used for the manufacture of dyes.
<I> Example: </I> 45 parts by weight of crotonic acid are gradually added to 134 parts by weight of powdered aluminum chloride and 420 parts by weight of bromobenzene while stirring at ordinary temperature. The temperature is gradually increased to 100 and above and held for a few hours. It is then poured onto ice and distilled with steam, initially bromobenzene, then a mixture of the ring ketones given above.
The product is liquid at normal temperature and partially solidifies when it cools down. It is colorless, almost insoluble in water, alkalis and acids, and relatively easily soluble in organic solvents.
