Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines Ringketons der aromatischen Reihe. Gegenstand dieser Erfindung ist ein Ver fahren zur Darstellung eines Ringketons der aromatischen Reihe von nachstehender Formel:

welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass man ss-Chlorbuttersäurechlorid mit a-Methylnaph- talin und Aluminiumchlorid kondensiert und das erhaltene Kondensationsprodukt mit kon zentrierter Schwefelsäure erwärmt. Das Produkt soll zur Herstellung von Farb stoffen Verwendung finden.
Beispiel: Eine Lösung von 14,2 Gewichtsteilen a MethyInaphtalin und 14,1 Gewichtsteilen ss- Chlorbuttersäurechlorid wird unter Kühlung mit Eiswasser zu einer Aufschwemmung von 30 Gewichtsteilen Aluminiumchlorid in 100 Gewichtsteilen Schwefelkohlenstoff nach und nach gegeben. Nach Beendigung der Um setzung wird mit Eis und Salzsäure ver setzt und die wässerige Flüssigkeit ausge- äthert. Der Ätherauszug wird mit der Schwe- felkohlenstofflösung vereinigt und abge trennt.
Es hinterbleibt eine Kristallmasse, die aus Ligroin umkristallisiert werden kann. Das so erhaltene 1-Methyl-(ss-chlorbutyryl)- 4-naphtalin vom Schmelzpunkt 44 bis 45' wird hierauf mit konzentrierter Schwefel säure bei<B>100'</B> einige Zeit digeriert. Sodann gibt man auf Wasser, wobei sich das 3,5- Dimethyl-6. 7-benzo-l-indanon vom Schmelz punkt 67 bis<B>68'</B> abscheidet.
