Abstract
Un reactor para la oxidación de un precursor a un ácido carboxílico aromático o un éster del mismo en una mezcla de reacción en fase líquida. El reactor comprende un recipiente alargado, de uso sustancialmente vertical, que tiene un elemento de mezclado superior y un elemento de mezclado inferior, caracterizado porque el elemento de mezclado superior es un propulsor con bombeo axial y el elemento de mezclado inferior es un propulsor con bombeo radial. También se describe un proceso para producir un ácido carboxílico o un éster del mismo en un reactor del presente. En el uso, la configuración de los elementos de mezclado conduce a tres zonas de mezclado altamente turbulentas. En una realización preferida del proceso del presente el oxidante, desde una entrada, y el solvente, precursor, y catalizador se introducen directamente en una zona de mezclado. Las zonas de mezclado altamente turbulento conducen a una rápida transferencia de materia suprimiendo la formación de subproductos coloreados no deseados, y reduciendo el ensuciamiento del reactor.
