Bu calismanin temel amaci, akademisyenlerin iskoliklik ozelliklerinin mensup olduklari kusaga gore farklilik arz edip etmediginin belirlenmesidir. Katilimcilarin iskoliklik duzeyini olcmek icin, Schaufeli, Taris ve Bakker (2006) tarafindan gelistirilen ve Turkce’ye uyarlamasi Dogan ve Tel (2011) tarafindan yapilan DUWAS iskoliklik olcegi kullanilmistir. DUWAS Iskoliklik Olcegi, Asiri Calisma ve Kompulsif Calisma olmak uzere 2 boyut ve on dort maddeden olusmaktadir. Calismanin katilimcilari Suleyman Demirel Universitesi’nin degisik fakultelerinde ve meslek yuksekokullarinda gorev yapan ogretim uyesi ve ogretim elemanlaridir. Toplamda 348 akademisyenden elde edilen veriler uzerinden calisma gerceklestirilmistir. Olcegin guvenirligini belirlemek amaciyla hesaplanan ic tutarlik (Cronbach alfa) katsayisi olcegin tumu icin. 86, “asiri calisma” faktoru icin. 77 ve “kompulsif calisma” faktoru icin .75 olarak tespit edilmistir. Kisilik, uzerinde ortak bir tanim birligi olmamakla birlikte, bir cok boyutu ile insan davranislarini tanimlamak ve ileride yapacak oldugu davranislari tahmin etmek icin konusu insan olan bircok bilim dalinin arastirma konusu olmaktadir. Meslek secimi, bireyin hayatinda onemli bir yer tutmakla birlikte kisilik bu secimi etkileyen faktorler arasinda yer almaktadir. Gunumuz calisma hayati, bireylerin hayatini kusatmakta, bircok bireysel kararin degisim mekanizmasi olmaktadir. Bu calismada; kisiligin meslek secimini ne denli etkiledigi, kisiligin meslek secim teorilerindeki yeri ve onemi vurgulanmistir. Ayrica; sekil ve algi itibari ile degisen calisma hayati ve bu degisimin kisilige olan etkileri uzerinde durularak karsilikli bir etkilesimin var olup olmadigi yapilan calismalar isiginda tartisilmistir.

Vocation, which is one of the factors affecting personality, takes a large part of life according to the working conditions of today. The life of an individual is shaped according to the vocation he/she prefers. Due to the different aims and qualifications of the vocations, the expectations of the employees vary. Employees with different personality traits reflect these characteristics to the vocation. Therefore, an interaction occurs between the vocation and the employee.
The aim of this study is to determine the reflections of the vocation on personality traits and to conceptualize them by defining the reasons of these reflections. The study was conducted with Grounded Theory, one of the qualitative research techniques. Within the scope of the study, in-depth interviews were conducted with semi-structured interview form that was formed after the pilot interviews, with a total of 25 participants, including 9 intensive care nurses, 9 primary school teachers and 7 soldiers. The recordings of the interviews recorded with the voice recorder were decoded and documented. In accordance with the requirements of Grounded Theory, the data were coded, analyzed and interpreted with the observations of the researcher.
As a result of the study, it was seen that those performing the vocations included in the scope of the study, showed changes depending on their vocations and had different reflections of the vocation on the personality traits. It was ascertained that vocation had such reflections on primary school teachers as; fair, prescriptive, neat, egalitarian, childlike, affectionate and resentful, as for soldiers it had reflections as; disciplined, self-confident, distanced, clear and proud. On the other hand, it was seen that, intensive care nurses, have gained a rational point of view, but they have also gained practical, self-sacrificing, meticulous, cold-blooded and solution-oriented features. The phenomenon, which is thought to be at the basis of the reasons of change performing the vocations in the scope of the research, is conceptualized as the “Vocation Member Exchange.”
