The development of this work is based on the philosophy of quality and the efficient application of its tools; one of its objectives is the creation and implementation of a systematic quality-oriented approach for the analysis of laser beam ablation and based on the Deming cycle (illustrated in chapter 1, in figure 2). As a part of the state of the art of this thesis, under the phase plan in the structure (see figure 4), the quality tools are responsible to assure a quality-oriented process, that is efficient and reliable, and adaptable to changing environments, like new materials and systems (flexible). Based on the phases, this work pursues the systematic identification, description and quantification of significant influencing parameters on the ps laser beam ablation of WC, targeting ablation (e.g., ablated volume, ablation depth and ablation rate).
After the experimental and theoretical investigation in chapter 4 and 5, a model considering all described parameters was defined. A further experimental validation was done releasing results and conclusions of the model. This information... more
After the experimental and theoretical investigation in chapter 4 and 5, a model considering all described parameters was defined. A further experimental validation was done releasing results and conclusions of the model. This information output is evaluated and analyzed in this chapter with the objective of consolidating the experience in the form of a framework that contains the methodology and all required information for a further practical application of the work.

This chapter presents the first approach of the research concept, a methodology for the identification of influential parameters of laser beam ablation on cemented WC. It serves as a guideline for the execution of the experiments further in this chapter, and thus, the determination of the influential parameters of laser beam ablation for further analysis.

The fifth chapter of this work belongs to the second approach to this investigation after the experimental. It is situated in the first phase plan and the second phase do of the quality-oriented structure of the thesis (as depicted in chapter 1, figure 4), being the phase do of greater influence thanks to the application of an analytical approach of this specific laser process.

Antifungal and antiparasitic activities for N-acetyl derivatives of different N-(prop) butenylamines have been previously evaluated and reported. Consequently, an efficient and versatile synthesis procedure and complete characterization of different N-phenyl-N-(1-phenylhex-5-en-1-yl) acetamides is presented. Two conformational isomers were observed for one of the compounds in their 1 H/ 13 C-NMR spectra. The conformational analysis was carried out using the B3LYP functional with the 6-31+G(2d,p) basis and the NMR spectroscopic data. The dihedral angle values of the allylic system obtained by both computational methods and 1 H-NMR data analysis (Garbisch's equation) were compared and used to successfully determine the conformational structures and the intramolecular interaction responsible for signal duplicity and chemical shifting respectively.

As part of our project devoted to the search for antifungal agents, which act via a selective mode of action, we synthesized a series of new 4-aryl- or 4-alkyl-N-arylamine-1-butenes and transformed some of them into 2-substituted 4-methyl-tetrahydroquinolines and quinolines by using a novel three-step synthesis. Results obtained in agar dilution assays have shown that 4-aryl homoallylamines not possessing halogen in their structures, tetrahydroquinolines and quinolines, display a range of antifungal properties in particular against Epidermophyton floccosum and Microsporum canis. Regarding the mode of action, all active compounds showed in vitro inhibitory activities against beta(1-3) glucan-synthase and mainly against chitin-synthase. These enzymes catalyze the synthesis of beta(1-3) glucan and chitin, respectively, major polymers of the fungal cell wall. Since fungal but not mammalian cells are encased in a cell wall, its inhibition may represent a useful mode of action for these antifungal compounds.

We review the methods and use of random quantum states with particular emphasis on recent theoretical developments and applications in various fields. The guiding principle of the review is the idea that random quantum states can be understood as classical probability distributions in the Hilbert space of the associated quantum system. We show how this central concept connects questions of physical interest that cover different fields such as quantum statistical physics, quantum chaos, mesoscopic systems of both non-interacting and interacting particles, including superconducting and spin–orbit phenomena, and stochastic Schrödinger equations describing open quantum systems.
