A website is needed by the government as one of the e-government's media on public service. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the website provided by the special region of Yogyakarta's provincial government as e-government media on public services. This research used descriptive qualitative design through the analysis results of interviews, observations and documentation. The findings showed that the Provincial Government had determined the audience. The content has tried to serve some needs. The two-way interaction fits the needs of the audience but not fast response. A website is easy to use but there are weaknesses, such as upgrade efforts, creative ideas and innovations. From their aspects, the website of the Provincial Government of Yogyakarta, Indonesia has not been fully effective as an e-government media on public services. For improvement, the special region of Yogyakarta's provincial government should always continue making innovation to its website following the audience's needs with the aim to make it more interesting and valuable.

The digital revolution and the communication platforms provided by the Web 2.0 virtual space era, such as social media, social networks, other tools and channels, create new opportunities for better marketing decisions based on user-generated data analysis. Every day customers of social media and other virtual tools are creating huge amounts of their actions-caused data, and businesses lack management tools supporting this process, which could create knowledge in the areas of deeper cognitive customer profiles and preferences. The growing number of social media users indicates the popularity of these communication tools among the information society, but science today lacks a deeper knowledge of social media-generated data and other algorithms for this kind of data usage. Therefore, the purpose of the article can be defined as the development of a conceptual model of big data generated by social media usage in business. The formation of the conceptual model is based on the analysis of big data assumptions and application possibilities, social media classification peculiarities and different channel specifics, identification of big data analysis methods and analysis of big data applications generated by social media. The conceptual model creates preconditions for deeper knowledge of user-generated big data in nowadays' widely used communication platforms, as well as creation of the decision support tool for marketing specialists in order to use big data from social media in deeper cognitive customer profiles and preferences. The methods employed in this research are literature and other references analysis, synthesis and logical analysis of information, comparison of information, systemisation and visualisation.

One of the most important topics in the last decade is the Big Data (BD) and how to link it and benefit from its consumption in different fields, included as the introduction in this research analysis of the BD belonging to devices of the Internet of Things. The concept of managing objects and exploring devices is connected to the Internet and sensors deployed in the world, all these devices are pumping a lot of data through the Internet of Things (IoT) into the world. In order to make the right decisions for people and things, BD using data mining techniques and machine language algorithms help make decisions. The Internet of Things that insert large amounts of data need to be studied, analysed and disseminated in order to access valuable, useful and bug-free information for the purpose of making the right decision and avoiding problems. In this paper, two clustering algorithms simple K-means and self-organising map (SOM) in IoT are presented. Next, comparing the clustering models' output in the IoT data set that improved the SOM is better than K-means, but it is slower in creating the model.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in a turbulent and fast-moving environment introduce innovative solutions, including new ICT, in order to survive or achieve a better market position. A number of studies show that the quality of ICT infrastructure and Information Systems supporting business processes has significantly improved in recent years in the case of manufacturing SMEs. The cloud computing model with a new subscription payment system creates new opportunities for collaboration and tends to increase productivity, which is one of the main factors behind its extensive proliferation. Our research continues studies in the area of cloud computing adoption seen from an organisational perspective. The aim of the paper is to analyse the benefits of using cloud computing solutions by small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in Poland. The implementation of this objective required, on the one hand, a review of the literature and previous studies on the application of the cloud computing model in SMEs, and, on the other hand, conducting our own research among this group of enterprises. Quantitative research was carried out using a survey questionnaire from December 2017 to February 2018, with the use of the CATI technique, among 277 small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in Poland. The analysis of the obtained research results shows that SMEs see the benefits of using cloud computing solutions and perceive these solutions in terms of processes supporting business management. These entities most often use less advanced cloud solutions, i.e., email services, data collection and storage and instant messaging systems, that facilitate communication with the environment, improve the flow of information and documents and support production processes.

The use of IT systems in modern accounting has become a necessity for all companies. The basic function of modern business organisations is the efficient management of information and knowledge. During decision-making processes, managers require reliable and accurate information. Managers, for both tactical and operational goals, must have data from functional areas, like accounting, production, marketing or procurement. A properly functioning information system in an enterprise ensures the flow of information between all systems and subsystems, and between an enterprise and its surroundings. The aim of this paper is to present IT systems used in the area of accounting in Polish companies. The purpose of this paper is to determine the motives of choice-which software is the best for using in the accounting subsystem of given enterprises. The used methods in this paper are a questionnaire, comparisons and explanation. Some theoretical approaches are examined by analysis of the survey. The results rely on the questionnaire among the chosen Polish companies. This study was undertaken because of the continuous changes in information technology, accounting rules and the changed approaches to accounting (or bookkeeping). This study can be helpful for managers and accountants to possess better accounting information and to make better economic decisions. The accounts supporting software used by the surveyed companies in the paper were compared and analysed. The analysis of the questionnaire allowed finding out motives of choice of a particular solution. It showed how entrepreneurs get information about the accounting software and what type of software they have implemented in companies. In addition, respondents pointed out the pros and cons of the IT systems they implemented. Finally, the survey has shown that users of various accounting software or accounting applications cannot imagine their work without them, and all IT tools bring them benefits.

In the current technological and competitive world, individuals are provided with a broad range of digital as well as traditional channels. Presently, online news sites are providing high satisfaction to the readers, and this scenario has simultaneously caused a decline in the circulation of print newspapers. Given this, the present study aimed to identify the choice of consumers in online and print media regarding the format preference and also examined whether there is any difference in the demographic characteristics in the choice of consumer. This study adopted the quantitative method and primary data collection approach where paper-based survey was conducted among 102 journalists. Furthermore, this study analysed the influence of involved variables (print and online media) and also examined the relationship between format preference and demographic characteristics between the two media. This study would further shed light on the two important input classifications such as exploratory and descriptive research. The findings of the study are provided in tabular formats after carrying out the qualitative data collection such as the focus group interview and the elite and specialised interview. The hypotheses for the study were developed based on the literature review and were tested using the chisquared test. The study's findings showed that there is no association between personal attributes and media type. Majority of them reported that irrespective of education, gender, income, age and nationality, they prefer online media, especially the internet, as their basic resource. However, few old-age consumers prefer print media, especially newspapers. Moreover, this study concludes that there is no statistical significant association between media type preference and the reasons. This is due to the fact that, based on media type, there is a lack of difference in the reason choices provided by the consumers. This study empirically concludes that print media is significantly influenced by online media. Several features that create an impact on print media include profitability, market share, subscription, advertising revenue, demand and print revenue.

The purpose of this paper is to do a comprehensive analysis of Cloud based Big Data challenges and opportunity for SMEs in India. Big Data (BD) are big buzz words, and many large enterprises are making significant advances in their product development, customer relations, and increasing profitability by targeting specific customers. Therefore, it has generated interest for both the academic and industry world as it has the potential to enhance the decision making process by providing valuable insights. The large organisations are benefiting from using BD as a tool to gain a competitive edge over rivals by driving new revenue streams and improving internal operational efficiency. The large organisations are already investing as well leveraging BD. On the contrary, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in India are slow adopters of new technologies due to many factors and pose to lose their competitive edge on the world stage. SMEs can also leverage BD to gain a strategic competitive advantage but are resource poor in terms of investment in manpower and financial resources. Major challenges still exist in the adoption of BD especially in information technology architecture. Cloud Computing (CC) can eliminate the need to maintain expensive computing hardware, software, and networking resources. CC can also provide a solution to scalability issues, high speed performance, and fault tolerance for using BD. With CC usage, SMEs can take advantage of BD without significant investment in information technology and manpower. This research uses secondary data as a research data collection technique, which is its limitation. However, a quantitative research methodology using statistical surveys is planned to be conducted in the near future to understand the factors impacting on the adoption of Cloud based Big Data for Indian SMEs. This paper contributes to exploring and enhancing the understanding of the challenges and opportunities for SMEs in India for adopting BD. This study will also have both industrial implications for practitioners in India, as well as those in other developing countries, and academic implications for researchers who are interested in BD adoption in developing countries.

This article presents a comparative study between two strategies for the direct torque control (DTC) of the doubly fed induction generator based on the wind energy conversion system (WECS). The first method is a conventional DTC and it is based on hysteresis controllers, where the torque and the flux are regulated by these controllers. The second one is DTC by space vector modulation strategy (DTC-SVM), where the torque and flux are regulated by PI controllers. The main feature of the proposed (DTC-SVM) strategy is the reduction of torque and flux ripples. Simulation results of this proposed system were analysed using the MATLAB environment.

Online learning via educational technology tools has been used as a paradigm shift in education to transmit knowledge and promote learners' engagement in secondary learning environments. The emotional, behavioural and cognitive facets of engagement play an important role in the learning process and social development. Learner engagement refers to the degree of attention, focus, belief, interest and emotions that motivate learners successfully to practice higher level critical thinking skills and to promote meaningful learning experiences to achieve the course's learning objectives and progress in their education. This study adopted the instructional design theory, which aimed to propose a clear technology implementation model to enhance learners' engagement in online learning. Some popular technology implementation learning models were explored and analysed. Later, the technology implementation learning paradigm was proposed for the purpose of promoting learners' engagement in online learning and support the meaningful inclusion of online learning in secondary schools. The proposed paradigm is composed of four interacted fundamental dimensions, attitude dimension, pedagogical dimension, social dimension and technical dimension, which lead to engage learners emotionally, behaviourally and cognitively in a technology-supported learning environment. Attitude dimension is the intentions and the perspectives to understand, interact and manage emotional skills and abilities needed by technology users for the effective usage of educational technology tools. Pedagogical dimension is the active learning process for cognitive development using predefined learning objectives and pedagogical theories to identify learning strategies and assessments to achieve planned educational outcomes. Technical dimension intends to create a computer and media literacy that allows learners and instructors to employ online learning without technical difficulties. Social dimension is to create a technological cooperation where learners are networking with other learners and are willing to share positively their experiences with peers and/or with teachers to attain their emotional, social and cognitive engagements that keep them motivated and even inspired.

The significance of digital assistive technology in everyday life of people with disabilities has been continuously increasing during the last decade. An important example is that of the development of mobile apps which are suitably adapted for use by sensory-deprived people. We are involved in developing two such initiatives. The first offers interactive indoor navigation for blind and visually impaired persons, while the second offers deaf people a user-friendly environment for text depiction of the verbal speech, even when the articulation is defective, which is usually the case when the speaker is deaf. Despite the possible benefits of these apps, this does not necessarily signify automatic acceptance. This study aims to examine factors that may inhibit take up, in order to obviate these as much as possible. Factors contributing to the acceptance of technology may be complex, such as 'perceived usefulness', 'self-efficacy' and 'social influence'. An exploratory study of this issue will accrue qualitative evidence from the potential users. The paper concludes by presenting recommendations for the development of a tentative modified Technology Acceptance Model that considers the special circumstances around technology use by disability cohorts, to be tested as the research continues.

The continued use of digital devices, such as smartphones and tablets, has substantially changed the way we communicate and acquire knowledge. Museums are a key element in our society and a source of culture. Updating the method of transmission of museum culture is needed, so technologies related to the Internet have been integrated into the exposed elements. One of the most widespread methods among innovation trends in museums is the use of Quick Response (QR) codes for the transmission of additional information to the exposed elements. The case of the Alborania Museum, being a museum of environmental education, has live animals in veterinary treatment, so the information on the available animals is constantly changing. Establishing posters would have an environmental impact that is against the museum's ethics, so QRs are the best way to present dynamic content with low environmental impact. This article proposes an evaluation of an educational innovation project in the Alborania Museum of Malaga through the Contribution Analysis, in order to verify the value of QR codes as an improvement in the transmission of environmental education. The results show a very good acceptance and usability in this museistic context. The conclusions of this study are relevant to the optimisation of environmental museum information.

Privacy and security are the two major concerns of keeping and accessing data on the internet. The rate of intruding organisation's database by unauthorised users is on the increase. Thus, the affected organisation's data confidentiality is lost; it can be viewed, modified, deleted and/or make it inaccessible to authorised users. Intrusion detection and tolerance techniques help in recognising malicious attacks as well as supports the websites to survive the attack. A quantitative approach was used in this study even though numerous attempts of quantitative evaluation of the survivability of intrusion tolerant systems, especially in database field have been made. Study on survivability of intrusion tolerant systems has being done, taking behaviour of attack, prediction of scale, speed of database damage propagation and its degree of spreading as facilitators. This paper provides the intrusion tolerant database system as a series of state transition model (Zumkas Model) based on the hidden Markov model.

Nowadays, the application or acceptance of mobile learning in teaching and conducting research and other academic activities have been successful in developed and some developing countries of the world and have proven to be more efficient than the customary learning systems. Most of students and academia in these developed nations have embraced mobile technology because of its simplicity, flexibility and also provide opportunity for students and academia to collaborate with one another irrespective of their geographical location for research purposes. Few literatures suggest that the level of technology acceptance in the country is still very low compared to other parts of European and some Asian countries. However, findings of the quantitative analysis and collected works have also shown that students and academia hesitant to embrace mobile computing technology is one of the most significant factors that affect the level of mobile learning in most African countries.

Project planning is crucial for fruitful completion of a software development project. In case of a certified software development organisation, one can guess whether the software development projects are planned properly or not. But, what to do for a non-certified organisation? The objective of this study is to address this problem. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey has been conducted by involving experienced practitioners. The results show that several software development organisations follow Capability Maturity Model Integration) Project Planning-Process Area practices unofficially. Such organisations are potential candidate organisations for software process improvement initiatives, and would be cheap and safe for successful completion of a project.

E-banking is the influences of the future and it provides massive benefits to consumers regards to online transactions through internet, telephone and other electronic delivery channels. Bank in Bangladesh could use E-banking in order to gain economical advantage. At present, several Private Commercial Banks (PCBs) and Foreign Commercial Banks (FCBs) in Bangladesh offer online services and facilities within the branches of individual bank in the community. It is expected that banking can earn profit and offer better services to its customers by introducing E-banking facility more and more in Bangladesh. As an under developing country, Bangladesh is not fully known about E-banking sector in every area. As a result, this research also highlights the issues and factors related with E-banking e.g. cybercrime and try to discover the probable obstacles and prospects in Bangladesh to make an active solution of Bangladesh’s E-banking

Current, wind, wave direction and magnitude are important factors affecting the course of ships. These factors may act positively or negatively depending on the course of a vessel. In both cases, optimisation of the route according to these conditions will improve the factors such as labour, fuel and time. In order to estimate the wind, wave, current direction and magnitude for the region to be navigated, it is necessary to develop a system that can make predictions by using historical information. Our study uses historical information from the E1M3A float-a part of the POSEIDON system. With this information being used, artificial neural networks were trained and three separate artificial neural networks were created, which can predict wind direction and speed, direction and speed of sea current, wave direction and height. For different regions, it is necessary to use artificial neural networks trained using the historical information of those regions. This study is an example of prospective studies.

This paper aims to provide an insight about barriers affecting e-commerce adoption with small to mid-sized enterprise-small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Australia. The objective of this research is also to consolidate the factors and determine the level of influence, either positively or negatively from the adopter's perspective, on the adoption decision. This study also examines the factors influencing e-commerce adoption decisions in SMEs in Australia. The finding says that one of the most vivid implications of e-commerce for SMEs is the potential for external communication and information gathering for market and product research. The study has found that the historical relationship problems between the business link and SMEs are still causing problems. The findings also show that in Australia, organisations and manager's characteristics, perceived benefits, organisational culture, organisational IT competence, technological competency, IT support, availability of financial support, management commitment/support, external pressure and cost of adoption are significant predictors of e-commerce acceptance in the SMEs and have significant relationships with e-commerce adoption in Australia.

Web usability is the ease of use of a website. Some goals of usability are the presentation of information and choices in a clear and concise way, a lack of ambiguity and the placement of important items in appropriate areas. On the other hand, user experience is something more than usability. It includes each and every experience that the users have while using the service. And of course, usability rules affect the user experience. In this study, understanding the principles of user-centred design and how it improves user experience are the main purpose. For this aim, https://www.virginamerica.com, which is the website that gained the 2016 Best User Experience Award from The Webby Awards, has been studied as a case study.

The paper aims to provide an insight about barriers affecting e‐commerce adoption with small to midsized enterprises (SMEs) in Australia. The objective of this research is also to consolidate the factors and determine the level of influence, either positively or negatively from the adopter’s perspective, on the adoption decision. This study also examines the factors influencing e-commerce adoption decisions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Australia. Three groups of factors influencing adoption decisions are identified, including organisational, technology and environmental barriers influencing e‐commerce adoption and implementation in Australia. This paper mainly has used secondary research data and methods to provide a broad investigation of the barriers in Australia, how to overcome the hurdles in SMEs of Australia necessary for SMEs to help facilitate e-commerce adoption. The research is subject to academic journal articles, project reports, media articles, corporation based documents and other appropriate information. In future, questionnaire‐based survey and interview will be conducted with small to midsized businesses in Australia about e‐commerce adoption and implementation. The finding says that one of the most vivid implications of e-commerce for SMEs is the potential for external communication and information gathering for market and product research. However, the most common limitation of e-commerce in Australia is that e-commerce is mainly used for payment purposes only. The study has found that the historical relationship problems between Business Link and SMEs are still causing problems. Cost was not seen as an inhibitor to adopting e‐commerce. Some evidence is emerging that e‐commerce may be able to save failing or struggling businesses. Other unexpected outcomes are that e‐commerce had social benefits for SMEs’ owners in reducing working hours yet still increased sales. The findings also show that in Australia, organisations and manager’s characteristics, perceived benefits, organisational culture, organisational IT competence, technological competency, IT support, availability of financial support, management commitment/support, external pressure and cost of adoption are significant predictors of e-commerce acceptance in the SMEs and have significant relationships with e-commerce adoption in Australia

The gatekeeping phenomenon has been studied in varied fields, and it has been applied with different meanings and purposes. The concept was coined in 1947 by Kurt Lewin to study food habits. He described housewives as gatekeepers who decide what food is appropriate, thus, led to the concept that gatekeepers control and effect members’ decision. This phenomenon attracted researchers from other fields. In 1977, Thomas Allen was the first scientist from the information science field to investigate the information flow in R&D labs. He described gatekeepers and established their characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to review the concept in current literature. The paper represents significant findings to prove the importance of gatekeeping in diverse contexts such as medical and business fields. This philosophical review gives a broad understanding of the concept that may open new routes for future studies and optimistically add value to the field of information science.

This article is aimed at elementary teacher attitudes towards using educational technologies in education, especially in teaching elementary mathematics. The data used were collected by a questionnaire which was created on the principle of semantic differential. Basic statistical characteristics were calculated and a graph of the semantic space was plotted for all of the respondents participating in the study. In general, it is surprising that how differently teachers perceive the use of computers in education on the one hand, and the use of computers in teaching mathematics on the other. The results show that teachers are not convinced that it is meaningful to implement computers into primary mathematics education or that employing multimedia in teaching mathematics might bring educational benefits.

Although digital technologies signify innovation and prestige, adopting such technology in teaching praxis requires deeper understanding and examination of technology integration with different variables. This study examines the relationship between pre-service teachers' material development competency as a proficiency in which technology is heavily integrated into teaching activities and their techno-pedagogical competency. The survey method used in this study had 202 pre -service teachers enrolled in an instructional technologies and material design course delivered in a Turkish state university.Application-based educational technology and material development competency scale and techno-pedagogical competency scale were employed. The results showed a positive relationship between both the scales. Increase in proficiency in the techno-pedagogical competency showed an increase in the pre -service teachers' proficiency in technology enhanced material
development skills. Based on these findings, issues in developing pre -service teachers' technology enhanced material development skills within the context of their techno-pedagogical competency are discussed.

Assessment of ICT knowledge and skills is as important as gaining these knowledge and skills. There are two commonly used assessment types as (multiple-choice) Test Based Assessment (TBA) and Practice Based Assessment (PBA) and the question that which one is better still remains controversial. In this research, the focus of the study was examining these factors in relationship with the academic achievement of the students. More specifically, impact of assessing the students with TBA and PBA types on the students' academic achievement scores based on the aforementioned factors was examined. For this purpose, two study groups consisting of 243 students who were assessed with TBA and PBA in a course titled as Computing I were included in the present research. The results showed that there is a significant difference in academic achievement scores of the students and that the students who took TBA are more successful. According to the results, students are more comfortable and more confident with TBA whereas students taking PBA believe that PBA is better to measure ICT knowledge and skills. Therefore, it could be concluded that these two different assessment types are complementary once students' positive opinions, expectations and feelings are pedagogically secured.

Since usage is a necessary condition for deriving benefit from information technology and the use by the end users is not guaranteed, one of the main streams of research in the field is the explanation of acceptance and use. Increasingly, it appears that researchers are shifting focus from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The main contribution of the UTAUT to the TAM was the addition of demographic variables (such as age, gender, and experience with IT) and situational variable (voluntariness) as the main moderators of beliefs on technology usage. This paper extends this line of research beyond these moderator variables. Given recent trends in the globalization of business and the prominence of multinational team members, managers in multinational companies are now confronted with the need for increasing usage of information technology from a workforce comprised of different cultures. Furthermore, without understanding the role of cultural values in IT usage, it could be hard for developers to design and guide systems development in ways that are appropriate in different cultures. Since individuals are conditioned by their culture and the suggestion form prior research that UTAUT model do not universally hold across cultures, this paper extends the UTAUT model by espousing national cultural values as an important set of individual difference moderators. These espoused national cultural values of masculinity/femininity, individualism/collectivism, power distance and uncertainty avoidance are incorporated into an extended model of UTAUT as moderators. At this stage, the model was constructed and will be explained in this paper. The future work is the validation of the model in which a cross-sectional survey will be conducted in two countries varying in term of culture according to Hofstede's cultural dimensions' indexes. The findings may provide a useful lens for the successful implement of information technology in multinational and transnational organizations.

This paper contains a brief description of new approach regarding LSB steganography. The novelty of the method resides in the combination of LSB (Least Significant Bits) steganography with some primitives of the pixel-sieve/bit-sieve cryptographic method. In short, we propose to use two or more carrier images and the sieving algorithm, borrowed from the pixel sieve primitive, to determine which carrier image will receive the next set of bits of the secret message. While in classic LSB steganography the secret message must be encrypted prior to embed the information into the carrier image, in our proposal the message is scrambled between the shares in a pseudo random way. An attacker will need all the carrier images and the sieving key in order to reconstruct the original message. Also we recommend an alternative method in which instead of simply replacing the last bit/bits we use them as XOR keys to further enhance the security.
