Introduction
• Our project aims to simulate the basic working principles of radar systems, which
are widely used in fields like security, navigation, and even autonomous driving.
we can detect the presence of objects, measure distances, and visualize this data
in real time.
• This system uses an Arduino microcontroller, an ultrasonic sensor, and a servo
motor to detect the position and distance of objects within a specific range. By
emitting sound waves and measuring the time it takes for them to bounce back
after hitting an object, the ultrasonic sensor can calculate the distance to nearby
objects. The servo motor rotates the sensor, allowing it to sweep across a 180-
degree range to map out its surroundings, similar to how a radar scans an area.
Literature Survey
Objectives
•Object Detection
Identify the presence of objects within the sensor’s scanning range.
•Distance Measurement
Accurately measure the distance between the sensor and detected
objects.
•Angle Determination
Calculate and record the angle of each object relative to the sensor
•Provide a Real-Time Visual Display
Display real-time distance and angle data, either on a computer screen,
LCD, or using software
Block Diagram
Applications
1. People Counting and Crowd Monitoring: Ultrasonic radar can help in counting people or monitoring crowd
density in places like malls, events, and public transport hubs.
2. Automated car parking systems: The system can calculate the distance and angle of an object, which can be
used for automated car parking systems.
3. Security systems: The radar can monitor an area for intruders, sounding an alert if an object is detected
within a specific range.
4. Obstacle Detection for Robotics: The radar system can be integrated into robots to help them detect
obstacles and navigate around them.
5. Home Automation and Security: An Arduino radar system can be used to secure entryways and monitor
indoor spaces for unauthorized movement, triggering alarms or notifying the homeowner.
HARDWARE COMPONENTS
1.Arduino Board
2.Ultrasonic Sensor
3.Servo Motor
4.Breadboard and Connecting Wires
5.Power Supply or USB Cable
6.Display Module (LCD Screen)
Software’s Used
Arduino IDE: Used to control the Arduino Uno board as a microcontroller
Expected Result
• The project uses an Arduino and an ultrasonic sensor to create a radar-like scanning
system.
• The sensor sweeps an area (0 to 180 degrees), detecting objects and measuring their
distance at various angles.
• Real-time distance and angle data are displayed on the monitor, forming a live radar
scan.
• The display shows object positions relative to the sensor, creating a clear, rotating
visualization of the environment.
