1. What is a Computer?
A computer is an electronic device that processes data and converts it into meaningful information.
It works on the principle of Input, Process, Output (IPO). 2. Basic Components of a Computer:
- Input Devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner)
- Output Devices (Monitor, Printer, Speaker)
- Storage Devices (Hard Disk, SSD, Pen Drive)
- Central Processing Unit (CPU)
3. Types of Computers:
- Desktop
- Laptop
- Tablet
- Server
4. Software vs Hardware:
- Hardware: Physical parts of a computer.
- Software: Set of instructions/programs that run on hardware.
5. Operating System (OS):
The OS is system software that manages hardware and software resources. Examples: Windows,
Linux, macOS, Android.
6. Computer Networks:
A computer network is a group of computers connected together to share resources and
information.
Types: LAN, WAN, MAN, Internet.
7. Internet Basics:
The Internet is a global network that connects millions of computers. Services include Email,
Websites, Social Media, Online Banking, etc.
8. Basic Computer Security:
- Use strong passwords.
- Install antivirus software.
- Do not click unknown links.
- Backup data regularly.
