Value Addition Course on Data Visualization for Data Science

23rd June to 28th June, 2025

Data visualization is an essential skill required in today’s data driven world. With its
foundations rooted in statistics, psychology, and computer science, practitioners in almost
every field use visualization to explore and present data. Data-driven decisions are
increasingly embedded in business organizations, so professionals must be able to explore
and communicate data with understandable and powerful visualizations. Therefore, this
course will provide students with a formal grounding in data visualization as well as hands-on
experience using Tableau Power BI, Advance Excel etc. popular modern software package.
These skills will serve students in their early career and continue to pay dividends in the
future.

About Instructors:
This course will be taught by a team of various experts from Industry and faculty of SIES
GST from Data Science Domain.

Course Objectives:
1.To introduce students to the fundamental problems, concepts, and approaches in the
design and analysis of data visualization systems.
2. To familiarize students with the stages of the visualization pipeline, mapping data
attributes to graphical attributes,existing visualization paradigms, techniques, and tools, and
evaluating the effectiveness of visualizations for specific data, task, and user types.
Course Outcomes:
1. Students will be able to employ best practices in data visualization to develop charts, maps, tables,
and other visual representations of data.
2. Students will be able to create ad-hoc reports, data visualizations, and dashboards
using Tableau, Power BI Desktop.
3. Students will be able to create interactive dashboards using Excel and use AI tools for Excel
