Descriptive Essay About Snowboarding
Ever since I can just about remember I have been Snowboarding. Well first I started off skiing, but
I wanted more of a challenge. What got me started was my older brother Daniel when he tried it
for the first time, he didn t stick with it because he hit his head to many times (I think he is just a
pansy). Him and his friends use to call me hobo Joe, which I kind of liked cause it rhymes with my
name Joe and It gave me attention. We would always go to this little ski resortabout 20 minutes away
from our house and it was a blast, I loved it. I didn t have any friends to gowith at the time so I just
tagged alot with my older brother which was fine enough.
I was 12 years old when we first started planning our trip to go to a resort in Colorado, I remember
sitting up at night talking with my older brother, counting down the days till we finally got to
leave for our skiing adventure. And to top it all off some of daniel s friends were coming along
with our cousin Jodi and oldest brother nick. Even though Daniel and his friends tease me at times I
still find it a lot of fun to hang out with them.
Dad how much longer till we finally get to leave? I would ask my dad with urgency, not
understanding at the time that asking ever couple of hours would not make the departure come
any faster. Rolling his eyes my dad would answer This is the fifth time today you asked that
question, we are leaving tomorrow morning . Dancing down the hall I hurry to my room that I
share with Daniel. When I approached the door I could heard these terrible retching noises
coming from behind the door. I peek inside the door to see Daniel with his face in the waste
basket. My heart starts to sink, knowing that if Daniel is too sick to travel then we weren t going
to be able to leave for this trip. I go tell my parents and then trudgingly flop down on the couch
knowing I wasn t going to get very good sleep tonight.
I wake up messaging my neck trying to get the knot that had developed there overnight due to my
sleeping arrangements. Sleepy, I walk to the bathroom and start to wash my face and start my
morning routine. As I took my clothes off and I walking into the shower and turned on the hottest
the water would go, I liked when it was
James Baldwin s The Fire Next Time
Ta Nehisi Coates epistolary Between the World and Me has become a literary symbol for the
Black Lives Matter movement. Structurally, Between the World and Me is a direct descendant of
James Baldwin s The Fire Next Time; both texts were written as letters to male heirs and released
at pivotal moments in Black social movements. Coates work draws upon the literary legacies of the
Richard Wright School of urban realism and the Black Arts Movement. Between the World and Me
promotes a slightly more optimistic outlook than Wright s style of naturalism and offers a more
honest view of African Americanlife than Black Arts Movement writers. Coates also emphasizes the
ideas of an inclusive, cosmopolitan black experience as well as a black future. Furthermore, Coates
writing differs from both the Wright school of naturalism and the Black Arts Movement by focusing
less on critiquing the Black middle class and more about challenging the legacies of capitalism and
racism that promote problematic behaviors, both within and outside of the Black community. As he
outlines in Between the World and Me, Coates views raising the consciousness of all Americans and
inspiring Black Americans to imagine a black future as admirable but secondary purposes. As Coates
exemplifies, Black Literature in the 21st century should provide agency through writing, and he is
adamant that other people s enlightenment should not be the metric of success.
Coates work follows the Wright school of naturalism by
Grit Is What Separates Fruitful Lives From Aimlessness
The Christian author, John Ortberg once stated, Over time, grit is what separates fruitful lives from
aimlessness (Ortberg). This powerful statement is a very popular belief, that grit is a defining
characteristic in our lives. How we go about developing this trait on the other hand is hotly debated.
On one side there are, as I call them the critics. They believe that grit is a hereditary traitthat cannot
be developed in a schoolenvironment. Moreover, they believe that if it were to be attempted to be
taught, that the consequences would have terrible repercussions on our society. On the other side
there are the optimists. They have confidence that grit can be taught, but not quite in the way we
first expected. Of course, they also reason that teaching grit has a lifelong positive effect on our
society. To be honest I believe that grit can and should be taught in schools. The new and promising
evidence of its teaching and results cannot be ignored. It overwhelms the older critical beliefs. In the
end though, one must determine for themselves what is right.
Many have decided for themselves that grit cannot be taught in a school setting. One of their main
issues with attempting to teach grit is that there still isn t a standardized form of teaching this trait.
There have been many theories and propositions, but it seems that each strategy is incomplete in
some way. Their theory, as stated by the author, Toby Young, is that, character traits are inherited, not
taught

Argumentative Essay On Beauty Pageants
Have you ever watched beauty pageants like the tv show Toddlers and Tiaras, and think the
parents are absurd for pushing their daughters too hard for a sparkling plastic tiara? Maybe you
have been to a live beauty pageant, or specifically, support or despise them. Well, most people
particularly do not like beauty pageants as the toddlers mothers have them on strict diets, make them
wear extensive makeup, shave their legs, and get spray tans. But to the people within this culture,
beauty pageants are valuable and remains a tradition in society as they symbolize beauty within, but
the majority of society thinks otherwise. The initial point of a beauty pageant for young girls is to
win humungous prizes as tall as them, win lots and lots of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s what makes them, them. I have fun choosing my evening gown. I like challenging myself to
eat healthy meals and remain physically fit. I enjoy speaking at local schools and making other
public appearances. I have fun meeting different women across the state who enjoy the same
types of things I do. I like being put in a position where I can mentor young girls and talk about
the importance of education, says Kiara Imani Williams, a pageant contestant. These beauty
pageants aren t all about fun. You develop hardworking skills, you start to think like a leader, and
you gain skills that will most definitely contribute to your overall success. Of course, there are
people in the world who don t see this side of pageantry. There isn t a specific group of people
who despise these pageants, but most people in the world would say that focusing on physical
appearances of younger girls is not ideal, and it could lead to overconfidence and depression.
Overconfidence can have these young girls thinking they re better than everyone else, and
depression has many worse case scenarios. These people would agree that parents drench their
daughters in spray tan, forcefully pile ponds of make up on their faces, and make them practice
pageant walks and dance moves rather than, letting them be a child. They blame the parents for the
initial participation of their daughters in beauty pageants and even blame them for influencing the
child s behavior.

After the murder of Rizzio, Mary realized that Darnley, the playboy who was too interested in
hunting and women, was unfitted for the political power in front of him. Mary reconciled with
Darnley, but after Rizzio s murder, it was not sincere. Mary and Darnley never cohabited again,
even after the birth of their son. In chapter four, Mary is looking for the support of a man who is
of assured loyalty. The strongest candidate then was James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell. Bothwell s
family was one of the most important in Scotland, with wide lands of their own and wider
political leadership of other distance relatives. In February of 1567, Darnley was ill and staying
at the old Provost s Lodging . At two in the morning, an explosion demolished the lodge and
Darnley was found outside, dead. Mary had visited him earlier that week for she was trying to
reconcile with Darnley. She feared she was pregnant with a child and that everyone would know it
could not be Darnley s. After Darnely s death, Bothwell abducted Mary, and they were married with
protestant rites. By this, her people revolted for she had thrown away her reputation, shown her
approval of her husband s murder, and abandoned the church of her fathers . Even though she
sacrificed her thrown for Bothwell, the marriage brought her no happiness. Before the marriage even
took place, opposition was being formed
Theodore Roosevelt Contributions
Theodore Roosevelt spent his life trying to preserve the natural land and resources of the United
States, while promoting other countries to do so too. While president, he expanded the power of
the government to preserve land and create National Parks in order to promote a healthy use of the
land and allow all people in America to enjoy what the outdoors have to offer. Theodore Roosevelt
believed that the land was being over exploited by companies and land grabbers, therefore, he
wanted to protect the land, but wanted the land to still be used in a way that was healthy for the
environment and would benefit the greatest number of people.
Theodore Roosevelt was born in New York City in 1858 and is the second oldest child in the

those who died, their lives will never be the same again. This quote shows how harshly this
earthquake affected the residents of San Francisco. In Jack London s essay The Story of an

Music And Harmony In Music
According to Goodall, harmony is a word that borrowed by other language to show the well being,
human warm, agreement or friendliness. In music, harmony is the vertical of pitch with a part of
several pitches sounded at the same time. It unlike rhythm and melody as it was not part of music
from the beginning but it is an upstart. Harmony combined pitches into chords to please our ears.
Harmony is a magic compare to other elements of music. The tonal gravitational forces for harmony
are more complex and powerful than the melody. It contributes to the effect of the motion in music
and it allows the component to manipulate the human emotion. Besides, harmony is music coming
together with two or more sound to make effect and all around the world... Show more content on

Drone is the constant note just like deum verum the drone just follows the melody and played
parallel. However, this system gradually disappeared and new system is beginning. For an example,
Sumer is icumen in has special drone worked independently from the tune. When there are two
different notes played one after another, it is the beginning of chord progression. Chord progression
is the heart of western harmony that the harmony does not stay static and it moves. Whenever the
note in the melody collides with the two supporting drone, three note chord is created and three note
chord is the basic of western harmony.
Furthermore, harmony also contributes to the structural design of music. The arrangement of
melodic lends itself to hierarchical design more noticeably than does harmony. This is because
repetition of patterned material more obvious in melody then it is in harmony. The pattern of
