Impact Of Digital Technology On Children

The Impact of Digital Technology on Today s Children
In a world dominated by technology, it is appropriate for adults to have concerns about the impact it
is having on children. While most of this concern does stem from the experiences of their own
childhood when there was less technology, more play time outside, and life was just simply much
easier, the fact of the matter is that the children today and the future generations to come are going
to grow up in a technological realm. Today, children as young as four years old, are regularly using
digital technology on multiple different platforms such as the Internet, mobile devices, and gaming
consoles. A 2013 Nielsen Connected Devices report found that in households that have a tablet
and/or computer and with children under 12 years of age, 70% of the children used the tablet;
70% of those children used it for entertainment purposes, and 57% used the tablet for educational
purposes. The report, of course, raises the obvious question of rather or not early exposure of
digital technology can have negative effects on child development especially regarding their brains.
In truth, there is no easy answer because like most things in life, there are both good and bad
attributes to it and the exact same thing can be applied in this situation. For instance, while
technology can be used for positive educational purposes, there are also serious psychological
concerns.
The digital technology
A Pair Of Silk Stockings Essay
Kate Chopin again writes another short story with a way of getting the attention of the reader in
a short period of time. A Pair of Silk Stockings is based in early to mid 1900 s in a average town.
Shops, a theater and such lies in the center of town. The author tells of a widowed mother that is
not so well off, that discovers a sum of money and is taken away in her own shopping spree and
perhaps her own dreams.
Mrs. Sommers is a middle aged timid mother of a handful of children, and is apparently not well
to do anymore after her husband s death; Not that she probably ever was, but more so than her luck
would have it now. She is small framed with tattered old clothes, as if she hasn t been able to

Her children is the only thing that has consumed her mind in several years until the unexpected
sum of cash shows up. Even before Mrs. Mallard starts upon her shopping spree, she prioritizes
what to buy in her mind for her children, a dollar...(321). She knows exactly what to buy and how
much to spend on each since she knows the value of a bargain.
During her spree, she is lost in her own world and purchases items for herself instead of her
children. Her purchases included a new pair of silk stockings, fitted gloves, new boots and two
high priced magazines. Next, she is drawn to a restaurant that she has only dreamily strolled by
admiring everything about it, only to go inside for a quick bite, which is typically out of the question
for her. After her snack, she attends a play with other well to do women who are only there to kill
time, eat candy and display their gaudy attire. She now, stands waiting for a cable car hoping that
her dream will never come to an end. Almost lost in the moment, she stares at the man sitting
opposite her on the cable car hoping that this ride would never end. Quite possibly, she was
thinking of how life would be with the stranger who sat across from her. She relived the years that
have all but passed her.
Eventually, Mrs. Sommers trip does end but with no regrets. She has finally pampered herself
Burial Practices In Ancient Assyrians
Ancient Assyrians during the Neo Assyrian Empire in 911BC to 612BC had a set or funerary
practices for the death of a human being. The death of a male in an Assyrian family is seen as an
even worse family tragedy and therefore has a different set of burial practices and rituals. These
burial rituals were important to the Ancient Assyrians, as they were a process of mourning.

Ancient Assyrians observe arranged funerary practices when a death occurs. When death is near, the
local priest is called in to deliver holy bread (bukhra) and pray for them. After the priest gives an
invocation, relatives and close friends accompany the person during their final moments.

The empty corpse is compared to a deep sleep upon burial to the ground. Ancient Assyrians did not
view physical death as the ultimate end of a life, the dead continued to exist in the form of a
spirit. Ancient Assyrians continually prayed for this spirit after death. As seen in Source 2,
Votive figures are statues of various sizes that are commonly carved in gypsum or limestone.
They show men wearing fringed fleece skirts, and women wearing fringed dresses draped over
one shoulder, with inlaid eyes and hair that is painted. Usually the statues are carved with their
hands clasped, right over left, at the chest or waist in a gesture of consideration. Some figures are
depicted holding cups or branches of vegetation. It is common for standing figures to step forward
with their left foot. Male heads are frequently shown bald, however will sometimes have a beard
while female figures are shown to have an assortment of hairstyles or headdresses. These statues

First Amendment Pros And Cons
As the primary law of the land, the Constitution establishes all succeeding laws that would cater to
the development and progress of a nation. The United States, with almost half a millennia of
political practice has created for itself a system spanning the entire modern free world. The
overarching idea embodied in the organic law is its simplicity to be necessarily understood by the
common American. However we must understand that in the interpretation of its jargon; the
fabled words of the Supreme give the full spectrum as how the legal lexicon is applied; especially
in the protection and promulgation of our rights. The first amendment shall be read as follows:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to...

All five share one principle, the citizen s right of expression. The First Congress set this above all
else since such are the guarantees of a democratic system of governance, the means of expression
are methods of individual expression but as well as a form of healthy dialogue between the
governing and the governed. Understanding the concept of the first amendment s exercise, it
cannot be considered an absolute guarantee for in cases such as Schneck v. US (1919), Abrams v.
US (1919), Debs v. US (1919), Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire (1945) and the like, the Supreme
Court curtails absolute exercise since because it must be understood that the guarantees are primarily
in the protection from government infarctions especially by congressional acts. The only restriction,
as an exception, is that individual states may enact laws that only regulate these rights through the
maxim my rights end where your rights begin like that of Miller vs. California (1973) and Hustler

Essay On Middle Class Economy
The United States is currently in a period of Contraction, where an economic stimulus is necessary,
specifically designed and with a purpose to prop up and encourage economic growth for the middle
class. The middle class continues to struggle to maintain its foothold in this current economic
environment. The middle classis/has been the backbone of this economy since its creation , but has
continually been exploited with over taxation, less tax breaks, and no real wage protections to name
a few. The gap between the wealthy and middle class continues to increase further and further apart
from each other, causing the middle class to decline. Wages are not increasing fast enough with the
cost of living, new business are burdened with over taxation,... Show more content on

This also includes purchases by public colleges and universities. An increase in government
spending increases income which increases consumption. This is the multiplied affect. This would
help create the influx of capital needed for businesses to become profitable, whether these
businesses are privately owned or corporate owned. Changes in Business Taxes is an amount that
businesses are allowed by law to deduct from their taxes, reflecting an amount they reinvest in
themselves. An Investment tax credits are structured to reward and encourage economic growth. An
increase of these tax credits or a reduction in corporate taxes would mean more cash to use for
investments or wages, strengthening the economic position of the middle class (working class).
Changes in Income Taxes is a tax levied by a government directly on income, especially an annual
tax on personal income. Income taxes effects the consumption component of the aggregate demand.
An increase in taxes will reduce personal income and reduce thereby reducing consumption or
spending power. By reducing personal taxes, this would help the middle class save more for future
use and spend more, which in turn will continue to help stimulate the

Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting

Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract

This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are
represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within two
types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned is a
discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays
the reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data
type referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency table.
The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie chart (see Figure
2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3). The final data
source is a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see
table 4). The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a
histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to identify the
cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals).

surrounding her life from a child s view, this gives us a better understanding of what she can
comprehend. As a child living in Maycomb County, and her father, Atticus, being the best lawyer

Poetry Explication and Analysis Essay Trumpet Player by Langston Hughes
Part I: Scansion and Analysis While constructing the amazing poem Trumpet Player, Langston
Hughes considers how music can enhance the misery continued through hardships yet that the
excruciating recollections of those hardships never really blur away. A prominent African American
artist of the primary portion of the twentieth century, a significant number of Langston Hughes works
voiced the feelings of the Harlem Renaissance development in the 1930s. His ballad Trumpet Player
thinks about how African Americans kept on torment from the impacts of subjugation even after its
abolishment and held onto music as a way to facilitate the torment of their recollections.

Hughes verse is organized by four eight line stanzas followed by two six line stanzas. The poem does
not stick to standard English traditions, keeping away from all accentuation with the exception of
two M Dashes . Besides, the lyric uses capitalization in odd places vigorously in the first stanza, but
noticeably less in the rest of the stanzas. In the third stanza, in which the author manages the idea of
music, there is an eminent nonappearance of any capitalization whatsoever. The main, second, and
fifth stanzas hold fast to a comparative structure, each comprising of a solitary sentence written in
free verse. The third and fourth stanzas are additionally comparative in structure, each comprising of
two parallel sentences. Be that as it may, even among these groupings, the stanzas fluctuate
incredibly in other complex perspectives. For example, the lengths of their relating lines and their
utilization of capitalization changes. Moreover, though the fourth and eighth lines rhyme with each
other in the four eight line stanzas, the last two six line stanzas have no reasonable rhyming pattern.
The sonnet likewise does not hold fast to an unmistakable meter and is composed of free verse. The
numerous varieties in style give the lyric an impression of a much extemporized jazz execution. This
mirrors the poem s melodic theme and insinuates the impacts of the African American music styles
The Constitution Of The Italian Republic
Italian Law in 20th century: The distinctive features of The Constitution of the Italian Republic

Zadie Smith s Two Men Arrive In A Village
Two Men Arrive in a Village (2016) written by Zadie Smith, is a short story following events that
take place in a West African Village, narrated by a woman belonging to that village. The story is a
parable, which is a symbolic story told with the purpose of teaching a spiritual lesson to its reader.
Two Men Arrive in a Villagetells the ever repeating account of two men arriving in a village,
striking fear into its people, killing, raping and stealing from the villagers who inhabit it. Smith
constructed the narrative in such a way that it traces a story that occurs in various locations at
once, parallel to a specific situation, all taking place at the same time. By doing this Smith
weaves a specific story and a broad story together. While following the events in the African
village, Smith s story also encompasses a prevalent point, that men can feasibly appear at any
location at any time bringing destruction with them. The story begins with two seemingly friendly
men arriving in a village. As the story unfolds the men become less friendly and more detrimental,
in the process of plowing through the village unleashing bloody chaos . Even though the
particular experience is not the story that repeats itself, Smith s parable embodies the universal
theme of power and violence all around the world. The men reveal their true motives as soon as
they walk around the village and begin to steal possessions, all the while denying their true
actions as stealing . Despite the villagers hospitality these visits always follow a pattern. After
meals are finished and drinks are sucked down Theft is their first and least serious offense. They
start by walking around the village casually taking items as trivial as a cigarette, followed by a sly
deceitful thank you . They will soon progress from pocket picking to looting homes taking whatever
they please, without running into confrontation from the villagers. The men will always steal from
the villages, ransacking pockets or houses taking anything from watches to women. The thefts come
easily to the men because no one will ever dare to stop them. The men continue on to prove their
dangerous intent by slaughtering the people of the village, causing the once calm
Elementary School And High School
Class is defined as a group of people who have a similar level of wealth and income. Even though
this ideology is more referred to specific individuals regarding their occupation, education can be
considered to follow this same description. There are educational institutions everywhere, one
elementary school usually in one part of a neighborhood in your hometown. As these schools
grown in number and increase in grade level however, less become established and there tend to be
a smaller amount of high schools within a city compared to elementary or middle. This means that
for every 4 or 5 neighborhoods there is 1 high schoolthat is responsible for accepting these residents.
High schools quickly become established in large district areas,... Show more content on

How are low income schools different than higher income schools? This is a concerning issue
because if there continues to be a financial difference between educational institutions that affects the
quality of schools, there will be an entire generation of students that will have received a poor
education and have limited opportunities of successfully integrating with society compared to
graduates that attained a higher quality education from a higher income school. This decreases
social mobility of low income school graduates, continues stratification, and may encourage low
income graduates to enact in high risk illegal acts to support themselves and families since they
were not properly prepared to be college ready in high school. Low income schools mainly differ
from higher income schools through student performance in college preparatory exams and
behavioral issues/stigmas.
Differences in student performance on college preparatory exams is the first noticeable difference
between low income schools and higher income schools. Bryan Station had a larger percentage of
students that underperformed and scored a lower average mean ACT composite score compared to
Fayette County and Kentucky. The average ACT score of a Bryan Station student is 18.1,
compared to the county average of 21.4 and the state average of 19.1 (Startclass, 2016). Compared
to Henry Clay, this school had a larger percentage of students that scored a significantly
Rational Choice Theory
Rational choice theory originates from the oldest criminological school of thought and
criminological theorists, but the theory itself is new, only forming in the last five decades. Ronald
Clarke and Derek Cornish, using the work of previous criminologists, put forth the rational choice
perspective as a criminological theory (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). This theory has its roots in
the classical school of thought in which individuals had the power to make decisions after weighing
the consequence of such actions (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). The work of Cesare Beccaria in the
late 1700 s cemented this theory s existence from the beginning of criminology(Adler, Mueller,
Laufer, 2016). Rational choice theory was also greatly influenced by Jeremy Bentham and his idea
of felicific calculus, in which a decision to commit crimeis made after putting risk variables in an
equation (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). Bentham says all humans work this way, evaluating
whether a crime is worth committing (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). Bentham was inspired by
utilitarian theory, which states that individuals make decisions to maximize profits and minimize
pain (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). In addition, rational choice theory is also based on traditional
economic choice theory that states people will choose what will appease their desires after
weighing their options (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2016). This paper will examine the effectiveness of
the application of rational
