Sand Country Almanac Review
In A Sand Country Almanac by, Aldo Leopold, he talks about the sky, and the horizon but also
explaining how a new day has begun . He talks about the ice age and the history explaining the
change of our generations. He expresses how beautiful nature is, and the need to preserve it, for
example, there are no words to describe the beauty of nature. Due to a glacier, one fell and crushed a
valley that had soon slowly started filling with water; this is explaining the change that had
occurred from long ago to how it is now. In Land Ethic it talks about evolution and how it was
studied. He talks the relations between people and their society but also the specific role people
had, due to the Golden Rule. There are two Kinds of Ethics Leopold talks about, which are
ecological and philosophical. Ethic is carried in a way to be a connection with people and the land,
for example they think the people will start to feel more of an authority to care and respect for
natural resources. He wants everything to stay in balanced, but with humans, they are producing a
different cycle and creating the loss of natural.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berry is afraid with our population increase; our natural resources will be limited due to how much
our society intakes on consumption of natural resources. Berry talks about the difference between
the natural and the human and how they are indivisible but different, at the same time explaining
how we are wild . Berry believes that plant and animal has a right to live. Berry also tends to think
the increase of population is dangerous because of people becoming individually
Female Substance Abuse Counseling At The Hendry County Jail
A large number of incarcerated women report high rates of abuse, including physical, sexual, or
emotional abuse (Wolff, Frueh, Shi, Schumann, 2012). This writer recently started to conduct
individual substance abuse counseling to women incarcerated at the Hendry County Jail. During the
time of speaking to these women, a common factor has arisen, that is the fact that most of these
women have been involved in some sort of domestic violence. Although there are women s jail
groups available throughout the country, there are not enough of these groups that focus on battered
women. This writer proposes to incorporate a battered women s in jail group that will focus on
helping those women who are incarcerated and who have been involved in domestic violence
throughout their lifetime.
Proposal
Purpose and eligibility of group:
The goals of the battered women s in jail group were sampled from The National Clearinghouse for
the Defense of Battered Women and would include educating women about the dynamics of
domestic violence, supporting domestic violence survivors healing from the effects of trauma,
supporting survivors of abuse in developing strategies and identifying resources to help prevent them
from experiencing abuse again in the future, helping survivors plan and prepare for being released,
including developing comprehensive strategies for enhancing their safety while in the community
(Bible, 2011).
Due to concerns of confidentiality, participation would be limited to those
China s Influence On The United States
The products of China played a role in the way the United States came about and how their identity
was created and solidified. China was seen as influential and beneficial for the Americans through
trade and customs that they brought along with them. Some individuals have traveled over to the
United States for the Gold Rush and others just wanted a better life for their future and for their
families future. There were other convincing reasons that pushed the Chinese to migrate away from
their hometown into a new environment as well. Chinese people were the first to migrate to the
United States. Majority of the young men chose to come over to experience a better life in the
States. However, the only Chinese women that would be able to... Show more content on

Groups that would agree and come over to work as a coolie were from Hong Kong, Canton, Macao,
Amoy, and Swatow. Social challenges the Chinese experienced ranged from how they were treated
in their jobs to how they would marry. Along with the occurrence of the coolie trade, the workers are
upset at the employers abuse and how they cannot regulate the laws within their job. When the
Chinese came over, the Americans were discriminating against them and their manner. The way
Americans described Chinese revolved about how China s culture is not normal because it is being
compared to their American culture and racialized comments. When you move into a new town
or city, it is harder to get comfortable when the ones that already resides in area are judgmental
and puts down the newer people. The Americans called the Chinese hurtful and unkind words like:
cowardly , submissive , silly grunts , and menaces . Interracial marriages were shunned and
disapproved by many, it created problems in racial and family order. An example of how a Chinese
man with a White woman relationship was ruined when Elise Sigel was murdered and Leon Ling
was called out for the murder because there was a rumor that they were in an affiliation with one
another. From this incident and others, there were laws that were created to separate whites and
Asian individuals from getting into any sort of relationship or contact. The Chinese did not have
much to say about
Influence Of The Aeneid
Aeneid s Influence on Modern Literature Almost every modern movie or text is influenced by much
older pieces of literature. Without these ancient influences, some of these movies or texts could
possibly be different or even nonexistent. The Aeneid by Virgil has been a political, historical and
literary influence to modern day literature. In Aeneid, the love between Dido and Aeneas serves as a
prototype to modern love stories like Romeo Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, Tristan Isolde by Richard
Wagner, and Tosca, an opera by Giacomo Puccini, but also serves as a political influence in literature
and left its mark on history. During the time the Aeneid was written in the 20s BCE, the first Roman
emperor, Augustus, established his new regime after the defeat of Antony and Cleopatra
(IBTauris.com). The change in regime influenced the Aeneid, as it both criticized and praised its
government. In a time that was ridden with war and bloodshed, Augusts Caesar brought peace and
control to the empire which led Virgilto celebrate his rule by alluding Aeneas to Augustus
(cedarcrest.edu). According to IBTauris, The Aeneid influenced future epics, both in Latin and
modern European languages, celebrating kings and emperors, or tracing legendary and historical
foundations. For example, Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene, a romance epic which gives
poetic form to the ideology of the British Protestant state under its queen Elizabeth I, is heavily
indebted to the Aeneid s influence. As
Anova Testing of Atm Tranactions by Debit and Non-Debit...
Due to the latest technology in today s world nobody carries cash on them anymore; everyone use
credit cards or bankcards. Using the statistical data provide by textbook: Lind, Marchal, and

debit cards use the ATM as much as people that don t have debit cards.

I was expecting to be correct in the assumption in the case of debit card holders having to make less
visits to ATM machines than non debit card holders, but I was also prepared to be proven wrong
in the same scenario should the study and information we discovered shed light on the other side
of the argument in this case. Reasoning out the hypothesis statement that people with debit cards
would automatically no longer need to make as many trips to ATM machines does seem to be the
logical deduction, as it only makes sense that a person who can then have access to his account
and able to make withdrawals from any location that can accept debit cards would then have little
need to go directly to his or her banks own ATM machine. On the other hand, what may make sense
does not always happen to be what occurs, and so we were ready to put our hypothesis to the test to
prove our reasoning and confirm or refute our case.

From the information gathered and the studies we researched, I was quite pleased at the results I
had found. In nearly every case in which I was able to document and verify that the data came
from a trusted source, I was discovering a near two to one ATM visitation rate between non debit
card holders and those that did possess debit cards. The extremes of the test did prove to be
fascinating in showing the disparity of the data collected, and showed that even with room for error,
my hypothesis was well deserved. In one case,

Analysis Of The Man In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was...
In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Dave finds himself throughout the course of
the story. Throughout the story, Dave is constantly seeking the pleasure of obtaining and then
eventually shooting a gun in order to be a man and find himself. However, Dave does not expect the
consequences that are to follow the pursuit of pleasure. The moral of the story pertains to the role
pleasure and its consequences have in development and finding oneself. The story narrates a
common, but little talked about problem, that runs rampant in today s society. In the story The Man
Who Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright illustrates Dave s development, or lack thereof, through the
symbols of the gun, the train, and the mule.
The most obvious symbol mentioned in this story is the gun. Throughout the story, the gun is
constantly shown as a symbol for power, as well as masculinity and independence. Several times
throughout the course of the story the narrator states, If anybody could shoot a gun, he could
(Wright 222). In the fields, Dave is treated as a child, and he believes that he is an adult and should
be treated as once, which includes owning a gun. Dave is disillusioned by the gun, and believes that
it will solve all of his problems and strengthen his weaknesses, including granting him independence.
Dave fails to realize that not being able to properly operate a gun only relinquishes freedom. This can
be further evidenced when Dave accidentally shoots Jenny, the mule. This situation should have put
an end to Dave s obsession with power and guns, but instead he was still fascinated, demonstrating
his lack of maturity and development. Overall, the gun demonstrates the maturity, independence, and
developmental level that Dave wishes to achieve, but severely lacks.
Mr. Hawkins s mule, Jenny, represents Dave. Overall, Dave fears working on the fields under
everyone else for the rest of his life, constantly being treated as a child. Dave connects with the
mule and consciously draws connections between the two of them such as the time Dave states,
They treat me like a mule, n then they beat me (Wright 221). Dave believes he is treated like a
mule, and believes there is little hope for anything

How Medicare Is Financed By The Social Security...
How Medicare is financed
Medicare is funded by the Social Security Administration, which means it s generally financed by
taxpayers. Payroll taxes paid by most employers, employees, and people who are self employed
help finance Medicare. There are 4 parts of Medicare, each part is funded differently. Part A, the
Hospital Insurance (HI) Trust fund is paid by taxpayers. Employees pay 1.45% of their earning
into the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA), which goes into the trust fund. Employers
pay an additional 1.45% into FICA. Those who are self employed pay 2.9% towards FICA.
Individuals making $200,000 or more and couples making 250,000 or more pay a higher percentage
of 2.35% into the Health Insurance Trust Fund. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remaining balance of 74.5 percent for the cost is funded by Medicare. Once more, higher income
beneficiaries will pay a larger share of the cost of regular drug coverage.

Eligibility for Medicare

Medicare coverage is available for most people who are 65 years old or older. Individuals may find
that Medicare offers better coverage at a lower cost than the coverage they had previously (CPA
Client Bulletin, 2012). However, a person is automatically permitted to Part A, if the participant or
their spouse are eligible for Social Security payments and have made payroll tax contributions for
more than 10 years. To be eligible, the person must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal
resident. There are no income or asset tests, and the participant qualifies without concern of their
medical history or preexisting conditions. Participants do not pay premiums for covered services
under Medicare Part A. However, if an individual is 65 years old or older, and has not paid enough
Medicare taxes for more than 10 years, they pay a monthly premium to receive Part A coverage.
Specific groups of people who are not 65 are also eligible for Medicare. Adults under the age of 65
with permanent disabilities are eligible for Medicare after receiving Social Security Disability
Income (SSDI) for 2 years. Adults with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or Lou Gehrig s (ALS)
disease are likewise eligible for Medicare benefits. Coverage
The Alberta Occupational Health And Safety Essay
SCOPE
The Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OH S) Code and Alpine Construction Policies both
indicate that the employer is responsible for the identification, assessment, elimination or control of
hazards in the workplace. Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control is critical to the success
and effectiveness of any OH S program. This program specifies requirements for the elimination of
OH S hazards and for the control of risk associated with the remaining hazards that cannot be
eliminated.
Alpine Construction has adopted a step by step process to guide responsible persons to an effective
hazard identification, assessment and controls system. These steps include:
Hazard Identification: identifying the actual and potential hazards
Hazard Assessment: determining the risks and the risk rating associated with the identified hazard
based on probability, severity and frequency of occurrence
Hazard Elimination: eliminating the hazard
Hazard Control: if the hazard cannot be eliminated, controls for the hazard and the risks associated
with the hazard will be implemented
Providing information, education, training and supervision on the hazards, risks and controls to
employees, contractors, and stakeholders
Periodic review of the hazard assessment and control process.
AUDIT STANDARD CRITERIA
Alpine s step wise approach to identify, eliminate or control hazards associated with all aspects of its
operations is intended to meet
a)the legal requirements for hazards
The Family Struggle In Gail Tsukiyama s A Thousand Blossoms
One word to describe family is team. Relating to a sports team, there will be players who struggle
with getting along, but it doesn t take long to realize that the team will not work if everyone doesn t
figure out a way to compromise with all the diverse personalities they ve got. With family comes
struggle and disappointment but that will only to an increased relationship of love and loyalty. No
matter what it is, when familystruggles and starts to see the family bond weaken it only opens their
eyes to how much they need each other. Struggle leads to sadness which leads to loneliness and
from that people need someone to rely on. Whether or not their struggles be with family sometimes
they are too private and too personal for friends, so they lean back on family. In the book The Street
of a Thousand Blossoms by Gail Tsukiyama she portrays a message similar to this throughout the
entire book. In most families overcoming obstacles is expected, but the most important thing is
being there for each other during and after the fact. At the beginning of the story the two main
characters, Kenji and Hiroshi had to go through something as horrible as their parents death.

Perceived Susceptibility Of Being Attacked By Malicious...
However, the studies reveal inconsistent results as to whether both constructs always determine
security behavior (Liang Xue, 2010). Woon et al. (2005) indicate that perceived severity determines
whether individuals take security measures to protect their home wireless network security. Ng et al.
(2009) reveal that perceived susceptibility impacts users securitybehavior to protect their emails,
while Workman et al. (2008) show that both perceived susceptibility and perceived threats
determined user IT behavior. As perception of threat increases, users are more motivated to engage

this study will apply the concept of knowledge sharing to VCs. On the basis that knowledge sharing

Safa et al. (2016) defined collaboration as a recursive process, where people, teams, or organizations
work together to perform a task or accomplish a goal. Hence, information security collaboration can
assist in distribution and sharing of information security knowledge among users, as highlighted by
Ahmad, Hadgkiss, and Ruighaver (2012). Similarly, Feledi, Fenz, Lechner, (2013) indicated that
collaboration can be applied in the form of submitting, commenting on, and peer reviewing the
knowledge shared, while Mace, Parkin, and Moorsel (2010) suggested that collaboration is a key
benefit for identifying features to assess information security threats also that collaboration can
create valuable knowledge in information security domain as it assist users to understand and extend
their information about security breaches. Bernard (2007) found that information security
collaboration decreases the cost of gaining security knowledge
