Fa Mulan In The Woman Warrior
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston depicts Fa Mulan as an inspirational, incredible,
young warrior. The narrator desperately needs to have the strength and power of Fa Mulan.
However, the narrator s family follows the stereotype of the women in the kitchen and taking care of
the children while the men work to financially help the family. The narrator also feels like she knows
nothing about her ancestors. The narrator s motherand her sisters, battle against ghosts, insane
asylums, and suicide. The nameless aunt that Brave Orchid guilt trips, proves Brave Orchid s old
school lifestyle of the unfair and inequality of women. Brave Orchid infiltrated talk story and her
life of receiving a medical degree while trying to auction her daughter
The Northridge Earthquake
Knowledge is the skill acquired by a person to have facts or information through education or
experience. To wonder is to be curious to know something. The meaning behind Morgan s quote is
that once someone learns something new, they want to investigate or know more.
Once we are told something we did not know, our curiosity tells us to do some research or to ask
questions in order to know more about the topic. I have been in this situation multiple times. When I
was first told about the Northridge Earthquake that happened a few years ago, I was shocked and I
was dying to know more. I had to do some research on my own and my knowledge about the
earthquake expanded. Not only did I know what happened, but I also knew how it happened, why it

Personal choices are very important in one s life. The stories that will be compared are, The Use of
Force , by William Carlos Williams and Lather and Nothing Else , by Hernando Tellez. It is how the
protagonists deal with a situation and how they use their intellectual thinking to deal with the
situation. However, personal choices can change the outcome of a conflict, which will either be
insightful or pessimistic. People make their own personal choices in everyday life. If the personal
choices are not well made, the conflict can either have a positive conclusion or negative conclusion.

It is no longer a professional encounter. However, he is able to diagnose the illness. Just as in
Tellez s story, the barber s problem is now that he has an enemy in his shop with the ability to
send him to his death. The barber s first choice is to resolve the conflict by simply murdering
Torres. However, the barber does not execute Torres. He does not want to become a slaughter. It is
clear in both of the stories, the protagonists are in their professional jobs and face an antagonist. The
protagonists have a problem with the antagonists which causes a thug of war in between them. By
making personal choices, they are able to solve the conflict and proceed on with their regular
activities. It is evidently demonstrated in both stories that the protagonists make their own choices
which help them solve the conflict. Both of the protagonists are using their thinking and
judgmental skills on how to approach the conflict. The doctor has to determine in which way he is
going to be able to confront the patient and diagnose the problem. Correspondingly, the barber as
well has to comprehend, concerning how he is going to deal with Captain Torres. The society
creates their own personal opinions in everyday life, but if the decisions made are not well
informed, there will be difficulties.
If intelligent personal choices are not well built, the conflicts can one or the other have a positive or
negative conclusion. In Williams The
Negotiation, Game Theory and Cultural Resource Management...
The final article is Negotiation, Game Theory and Cultural Resource Management presented by K.
M. Sullivan in 1986. This paper is about game theory and negotiation processes. It refers
specifically to the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service s approach to cultural
resource management. It has implications for academic researchers in dealings with Aboriginal
people. In New South Waleswhere environmental impact assessment is required, the Service has the
right to require archaeological survey to be carried out for Aboriginal sites. Such work is done at
the expense of the developer who engages consultant archaeologists. If sites exist, the developer must
either show that they will not be adversely affected, or must apply for consent to destroy the sites.
Such consent is given only after any further detailed archaeological investigation and in consultation
with local Aboriginal people, whose agreement is sought for research, mitigation or destruction.
Academic research which in any way damages a site must be the subject of an application which
must meet both academic and conservation standards and requirements, and must have Aboriginal
consent. During these processes, there are many issues which could result in various costs to the
developer. Negotiation is required to resolve conflict over sites, which is essentially land use
conflict. The aim of the Service is to protect sites, but in resolving the conflict surrounding any one
site, the long term general

October 1, 2017 Dear Elder, The purpose of writing this paper was, to explain how vampires, have
been influenced by Bram Stroker s Dracula novel. As well how Dracula and vampires have
influenced the Victorian era and gothic genre. The process that this paper and I have gone through,
was a mesmerizing one. I ve learned so much more about vampires and why they were created in the
Victorian era. As well the impact that the original Dracula had back then and now. The difficult part
of this journey was the choosing of the prompt. I wanted to challenge myself, so I chose prompt
3, and it gave me the challenge I was looking for. This challenge has made such an impact on my
English. It has made it stronger and more improved than before. The feedbacks and reactions I
received were positive, and there some few errors, but that s all part of the process of improving. I
would really appreciate that, my paper be checked again, just to know where else I can improve on
more. Overall this experience was an amazing one, and I hope to keep continuing writing in general,
in order to improve my English. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Structural Functionalist Marriage
The Structural Functionalist view marriage as essential to society and its wellbeing. According to
the Functionalists marriage is universal in its fulfillment of six needs of society: Economic
production, Socialization of children, Care of the sick and aged, Recreation, Sexual control, and
Reproduction.
In the view of Functionalists marriage helps with the taboo of incest also helps avoid role confusion,
ensuring people look OUTSIDE the family for sexual/marriage partners. Exogamy (looking outside
ones immediate social structure), helped forge alliances between tribes, nations, and cultures. Henry
VIII marriage to Katherine of Aragon of Spain is one such example, another is between tribes of

Quest for Self-Identity in Margaret Atwood’s Surfacing...
As the post colonial criticism developed, the theorists have agreed upon the fact that the role of
feminism in the post colonial practice is crucial. Moreover, these two theories clearly have the same
goals. On the one hand, the main objective of both of them is to disclose the traditional power
structures, both patriarchal and imperial. On the other hand, both feminism and post colonial
criticism aim to show the way the writers challenge the respective forms of authority. The main
concerns of the post colonial criticism are the formation of canon, the phases through which
imperialism and decolonization have gone, as well as how these processes are expressed in
literature. What is more, the criticism is also concerned with the ways of... Show more content on

Today when the term identity refers, more often than not, to something noisily demonstrative, to a
more or less desperate quest, or to an almost deliberately confused search... The nameless narrator
in Margaret Atwood s novel is on the pathway of unresolved crisis, she stands at the crossroads
between different values, and her insecurity of her self certainty limits her presenting her self image
to others. The novel reflects her journey of finding a resolution for her identity crisis, her struggle to
conquer one of the most difficult issues in lives.
In Spite of The Bell Jar, Esther searches consistently for some kind of identity but finds her
options limited as a young woman with little money of her own. After a disappointing summer as
a guest editor in New York City, she fails to be accepted into a prestigious writing course and
gradually loses much of her sanity and ambition. She mentally explores many wild scenarios for
happiness and fulfillment (e.g., apprenticing herself to a pottery maker, finding a European lover),
tries to write a novel, does such bizarre things as wearing her mother s clothes and eating raw meat,
and finally attempts suicide. Obviously, she is not mentally well, but to some extent society s
repressions for females and the lack of creative inspiration in her life have both contributed to her
collapse. Since society does not encourage
Long John Silver In Treasure Island
He had taken me aside one day and promised me a silver fourpenny on the first of every month if I
only keep my weather eye open for a seafaring man with one leg, and let him know the moment he
appeared. Change can be positive or negative, it is unpredictable, and it is inevitable. Silver in the
book Treasure Island changes in positive and negative ways such as standing up for Jim when the
rest of the mutineers want him dead, turning on Jim and the rest of the non mutineers, and taking
off with a sack of gold. Long John Silver from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson changed
by the forces and his identity changed because of friends such as Jim and fellow buccaneers, the

Silver said, I ll finish with em at the island, as soon s the blunt s on board, and a pity it is (61; ch.

seemed to be a better person in the beginning such as But one look at the man before was enough.
I had seen the captain, and Black Dog and the blind man, Pew, and I thought I knew what a
buccaneer was like a very different creature, according to me, from this clean pleasant tempered
landlord (43; ch. 8). At the end of the book he was impacted for the worst by greed. Ben Gunn
said, The sea cook had not gone empty handed. He had cut through a bulkhead unobserved and
had removed one of the sacks of coin, worth, perhaps, three or four hundred guineas, to help him
on his further wanderings (194; ch. 34). Greed transformed Silver back to his old, buccaneer,
self. Silver was impacted by the conflicts between good and evil. Thank ye kindly, doctor, says he.
You came in in about the nick, I guess, for me and Hawkins (187; ch. 33). Silver became more
thankful because doctor, Gray, and Ben Gunn saved him and Jim from the mutineers. When Jim
told all the mutineers that it was he that had found out about their plan and told Squire and doctor
(156; ch. 28) it angered them. After that Morgan got up to kill Jim because of what he did but
Silver had Jim s back (157; ch. 28). The conflicts between good and evil made him a better
Oresteia Suffering Into The Truth Analysis
Oresteia: Suffering Into the Truth
Oresteia is a script whose story goes on by recalling Orestes lost memories. The main idea which is
prevalent throughout this story is about finding the truth hidden in the acts of revenge, lies, and fates
which are intricately intertwined. However, as the truth does not always give us hope and pleasant,
in this story, the characters are suffered by the truth and the way to find it.
Orestes father, Agamemnon, is suffered for the truth of the prophecy, the child is the price: if he
kills his child, his country will win the war. Due to this prophecy, Agamemnon is tortured and
agonizing between his two important roles: father of his family and father of the country. If he
chooses his family and doesn t kill his child, they will lose the war. All people in the country will
be tortured as slaves and colonists. However, if he chooses the win, the peace and the pleasant
from a family will not exist anymore. His family will be demolished. Eventually, in the middle of
the story, he decides to kill Iphigenia. Agamemnon chooses his country, his subjects, and the win,
not his family s peace. He makes Iphigenia drink three solutions including the pills which make
her die. I feel like I ve done something so wrong that my whole life, my family, nothing will be able
to the worst mistake. I got it wrong. It was wrong. It was wrong (Aeschylus, 56.) This demonstrates
how he is suffered by the truth that he killed his daughter. His choice, even
