Weather and climate are the two major abiotic (nonliving) factors responsible for determining the
major geographic ecosystems called biomes.

Search the web and give a definition of weather:

The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc.

Search the web and give a definition of climate: the composite or generally prevailing weather
conditions of a region, as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and
winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.

Climate is closely associated with the seasons, but do you know what causes the seasons? Log on to

Bob Dylan s Song The Hurricane
Bob Dylan s song, The Hurricane is a story communicated through song. It is a tribute to a man
whom Mr. Dylan felt compelled to tell the story of. It is a song of protest, fighting against racism.
The Hurricane is not a real person, it doesn t breath, eat, or have a need to be safe and loved, it is not
a man. Rubin Carteris a man, one who spent over 15 years of his life falsely imprisoned, robbed for
time no one could ever replace.
One of the first pivotal moments in this journey towards freedom is when Rubin sends
Bob a copy of his autobiography, titled The Sixteenth Round: From Number 1 Contender to
#45472. After reading Carters book, Dylan went to visit him while incarcerated. He felt a
philosophical connection to Carter, and went on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

evidence to even suggest Carters presence at the scene of the triple murders, only the words of
others who happened to be white. However in that time period, a white testimony against a black

lesser scale today. The racial tension of the times is evident in these next lines

My Interest On Medicine Stems From Family Experiences
Personal Statement

My interest in medicine stems from family experiences. My grandmother suffered from Parkinson s
disease for most of her life and required constant care. Helping my grandmother with simple tasks
like eating breakfast, or helping her up the stairs was a humbling experience. This experience drove
my curiosity about the human anatomy, specifically the brain and how it is treated, which led to the
realisation that, for me, a satisfying career would involve helping others. A career in medicine will
allow me to combine these motivations, and to gain knowledge that I can use to serve more people
than just my family.

I recall visiting the neurologist with my grandmother and realising that she experienced differing
levels of tremors according to her nervousness. I also took from this experience the extraordinary
will power and infectious love that she expressed through her never ending smile and warmth; at this
point one would forget that she was ever a Parkinson s sufferer. The consultant who treated my
grandmother took the time to listen and showed compassion and interest in his patient. I also
observed how the successes of field research can influence the development of treatments for such
diseases as Parkinson s.

Inspired by my grandmother s fight against her condition, I experience working alongside a

neurological consultant at John Radcliffe Hospital. There I witnessed functional surgery on the brain
for alleviation of the symptoms of Parkinson s.
Nazi Propaganda Poster Analysis
The intended goals of the influential posters were to influence public opinion whether it be for or
against a precise political agenda. These propaganda posters manipulated public attitude into
viewing things into their way of thinking. The pictures and words on the posters were
meticulously chosen and used deliberately to influence the way one thinks. The strategies utilized
in the posters appealed to emotions rather than logical reasoning and always had motivational
factors to influence. Nazi ideology was portrayed in posters as part of Hitler s plan to reshape
German minds into his way of thinking. For example, in poster #2 a smiling, good looking, well
groomed German student is depicted holding a Nazi flag. The young student is regarded in the
community because of his education. The poster emphasizes that he is proud to serve Nazi
Germany in hopes of influencing other young people to serve in the military. His proud stance
suggests that he feels privileged to be carrying a swastika which is the emblem of the German Nazi
Party. The student appears to embrace becoming a Nazi by creating a sense of pride in the poster in
an effort... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We follow you, leader. The poster emphasizes and tries to persuade the public opinion that Hitler
was the epitome of what a supreme leader is. The poster portrays an oversized picture of Hitler
positioned to appear to look like a strong minded leader. The community is looking up at him with
raised hands in an approving and adulating manner. The poster attempts to influence people how
they should feel about Hitler by persuading them to believe he is the ultimate leader. His stance
with the clenched fist indicates that he is ready to rule outwardly and take care of the people. The
poster tries to show the people if they stand behind Hitler and follow his lead good things will
happen. The propaganda message symbolizes a forced belief and was intended to deceive the people
even though it gained more
Summary Of The Portrait Of A Lady In A Blue Dress
Copley s piece titled Portrait of a Lady in a Blue Dress created in 1763 by John Singleton Copley,
represents an unnamed female portrait painted with oil on canvas. The piece currently resides in
the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. The work of art can be seen from one side only
because it hangs on the wall. There is a great deal of indications in the paintingto show the viewer
who this womanwas and how she ranked high within society.
The portrait is displayed horizontally with a gold trimmed frame. The subject is a female that
looks to be in her early 20 s sitting upright on a large brown chair. If the viewer travels up the
painting the first indication of the woman s class is her satin, blue dress. The saturated blue shines
and falls in the light like water. Paired with the dress are her exceptionally detailed endings to her
sleeves. The lace is even painted as though it is translucent, allowing a little of the blue dress to
show through the sleeve. Flowers throughout history have symbolized innocence of a woman and
her virginity. The repeating theme of flowers, in the sleeve cuffs and ribbon) in the woman s attired
suggests her purity or innocent nature. Another very details section of the painting includes the
corset/torso details. The sewing suggests texture in the torso with small beading in between.
Towards the top of the chest in the center, the female seems to bear an extravagant, ribbon piece
with a tear drop bead in the center. The light pink
National Debt And Debt Of The Federal Government
National debt, the accumulated debt of the federal government, has always been a major political
issue for the government. The United States has always been in debt, in fact, we started out in debt.
In 1977, The Continental Congress needed to borrow money to continue the Revolutionary War. As
the years went by, and more presidents took office, the national debt increased. As of September 1,
2016, the United States national debt was listed to be $19.5 trillion. With all the national debt, the
government must find a way to use it. This is where deficit spending, the use of borrowed funds to
finance government expenditures that exceed taxrevenues, comes in.
Although national debt has a lot of disadvantages, there are also many advantages. National debt
gives countries the opportunity to receive extra funds to invest in economic growth, and it s a safe
way for foreigners to invest in a countries growth by buying government bonds. National debt allows
the government to fight against contingencies, and also allows the government to build new roads
and bridges, improve education, job training, and provide pensions. This spurs citizens to spend
more instead of saving for retirement, further boosting economic growth. National debt can also help
cope with depression. Disadvantages of national debt include the fact that governments tend to take
on too much debt, and it will interfere with economic conditions. Fighting against contingencies,
such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes
Australian Drought
In Australia drought has, and can be a serious issue, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology says
drought is Rainfall over a three month period being in the lowest decile of what has been recorded
for that region in the past. Bureau of Meteorology records show that a fairly impacting drought in
Australia around once every eighteen years.

There are three types of drought present in Australia, Meteorological drought is the most basic and
common, it is a period with less than normal precipitation. Hydrological drought is when water
storages such as dams and lakes, fall below previous storage levels. This is a type of drought does
not need a lack of water to become and issue, it can also be caused by the overuse of water by
people. Agricultural drought is when there is not enough water present for the general amount of
crop production in an area. In 2009, The levels of drought in South Australia continued, this was
caused by a very dry summer. Melbourne had a level 3 restriction of water ... Show more content on

The soil on the top becomes very dry and therefore is very vulnerable to wind erosion. This can
very easily lead to this land becoming unusable and therefore the livestock and crop production
that could or did happen in said area cannot continue. People in cities can be directly affected as
well; the Warragamba water storage, which accounts for 80% of Sydney s water went from 76%
full 2002, and then dropped to 42% by 2005. The repercussions of these meant water restrictions
which included limited time to water plants and gardens, this also meant a complete ban of
sprinklers and hoses used on things like cars.

Overall, droughts not only affect the environment and ecosystems that belong to the area in drought,
but in turn also affect people; and in much larger cases, societies and economical things like food
pricing. The impact that drought has can come in many forms and each to their own
