GROUP ASSIGNMENT – CHAPTER 3

Requirements:

Each group is required to leverage their personal and social networks (including parents,
relatives, neighbors, senior students, friends, etc.) to identify one organization that will allow
observation and provide information throughout the entire Introduction to Business course.

• All group assignments must be conducted at one single organization only.


• The selected organization must have between 10 to 30 employees - no more, no less.
• It is recommended to choose an organization where a group member has personal
connections (relatives, acquaintances currently working there) or where a group
member is currently employed part-time. This is to facilitate easier access to
information.

Guidelines:

1. Provide an overview of the selected organization:


o Full name of the organization:
o Address:
o Type of business organization (e.g., sole proprietorship, partnership,
corporation, etc.):
o Field of operation (industry sector):
o Brief history of establishment and development (5-10 sentences):
o Description of the products/services offered by the organization:
2. Organizational Capacity:
o Maximum daily capacity (the total quantity of products/services that can be
produced/delivered in a single day).
o Production/service area (area of the production workshop, customer service
area such as café floor area, hotel premises, etc.).
o Capacity of machinery and equipment (if applicable):
3. Number of employees and their positions within the production/service area:
(e.g., number of parking attendants, order staff, kitchen staff, tailors, etc.)
4. Describe all categories of products/services provided by the organization:
(e.g., describe the menu - how many drink categories, what groups? what types of
services are offered, etc.)
5. When a customer purchases a product/service from the organization, they are
buying:
o What is the tangible component?
o What is the intangible component?
6. Describe the main groups of raw materials:
7. Evaluate whether the use of these raw material groups is efficient or not.
Clearly explain why it is considered efficient or why it is not.
8. Describe the production or service process:
9. (For example: entering the café → placing an order → …)
(If the organization offers multiple products/services, select one product/service to
illustrate the process diagram.)
10. Assess the operational efficiency of the organization:
o Is it efficient?
o In what aspects is it efficient?
o In what aspects is it inefficient?
11. Prepare a presentation slide deck for a 10-minute in-class presentation.
