VIETNAM'S ECONOMIC LANDSCAPE FROM 2019 TO 2023

Reference data: Statistics from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam

Requirements and Instructions:

1. Analysis of GDP fluctuations over 5 years

• Analyze the fluctuations over 5 years (with data and charts) for:
o What is GDP?
o Provide data and draw 5-year charts of GDP by economic sector, economic type,
and economic sub-sector.
o Analyze and explain the increase or decrease in figures (by how much? in
percentage? why?)
• Research and identify some reasons and explain their impact on Vietnam’s GDP growth
over the past 5 years.

2. Analysis of the fluctuations of Gross National Product (GNP) and interest rates over 5
years

• Analyze the fluctuations over 5 years (with data and charts) for:
o What is Gross National Product and interest rate?
o Provide data and draw 5-year charts for GNP and interest rates.
o Analyze and explain the increase or decrease in figures (by how much? in
percentage? why?)
• Compare Vietnam’s GDP and GNP over the past 5 years and explain the differences.

3. Analysis of Consumer Price Index (CPI) fluctuations from January to December 2024

• Analyze the 12-month CPI fluctuations in 2024 (with data and charts) for:
o What is the Consumer Price Index (CPI)?
o Provide data and draw a chart of the monthly CPI for 2024.
• Provide an overall assessment of Vietnam’s CPI in 2024 and list the reasons behind this
trend.

4. Business development analysis

• Analyze the fluctuations over 5 years (with data and charts) for:
o Number of newly established enterprises, number of operating enterprises by
economic sector and locality.
o Analyze and explain the increase or decrease in figures (by how much? in
percentage? why?)
• Analyze some difficulties and advantages in establishing new businesses over the past 5
years.
5. Analysis of average income of workers

• Analyze the trend of changes in the average income of Vietnamese workers from 2020 to
2024 (with data and illustrative charts).
• Assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the average income of workers during
2020–2021.
• Explain the reasons why the average income of workers increased in 2024.

6. Analysis of business performance results over 5 years

• Analyze the fluctuations over 5 years (with data and charts) for:
o Profit and profitability ratios of enterprises by locality, type of enterprise, and
economic sector.
o Analyze and explain the increase or decrease in figures (by how much? in
percentage? why?)
• What are the main challenges Vietnamese enterprises are currently facing?
