ORDER OF SERVICE
Introit Hymn 224
Holy Father, great Creator,
source of mercy, love, and peace,
look upon the Mediator,
clothe us with his righteousness;
heavenly Father, heavenly Father,
through the Saviour hear and bless.
Holy Jesus, Lord of glory,
whom angelic hosts proclaim,
while we hear thy wondrous story,
meet and worship in thy name,
dear Redeemer, dear Redeemer,
in our hearts thy peace proclaim.
Holy Spirit, Sanctifier,
come with unction from above,
touch our hearts with sacred fire,
fill them with the Saviour's love.
Source of comfort, source of comfort,
cheer us with the Saviour's love.
2
God the Lord, through every nation
let thy wondrous mercies shine.
In the song of thy salvation
every tongue and race combine.
Great Jehovah, great Jehovah,
form our hearts and make them thine.
Salutation–
Gracious is the Lord and righteous: our God is full of
compassion. Psalm 116: 4

Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1: 2
PRESIDENT: Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy
Spirit.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
ALL: And blessed be His Kingdom, now and
forever. Amen.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
ALL
Blessed Lord and Father, we have assembled in your
name and in fellowship with one another. Enable us by
your grace to offer the sacrifice of praise and
thanksgiving; to proclaim and respond to your holy
word. Teach us to pray for your world and your Church.
Grant that we, confessing our sins, may worthily offer
to you our souls and bodies as a living sacrifice and eat
and drink of your spiritual food in this Holy Sacrament.
Amen.

Collect for Purity
ALL
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires
known, and from you no secrets are hid: cleanse the
thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy
Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily
magnify your Holy Name, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
THE KYRIES
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Gloria In Excelsis
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to His people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the
Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of
the Father: receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One;
you alone are the Lord:
4
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father. Amen
Collect: Proper 27
O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he
might destroy the works of the devil and make us children
of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this
hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he
comes again with power and great glory, we may be made
like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for
ever and ever. Amen.
First lesson: A reading from the word of God written in
the 3rd Chapter of the Book of Ruth beginning at the 1st
verse . (Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17)
Naomi her mother-in-law said to Ruth, “My daughter, I
need to seek some security for you, so that it may be well
with you. Now here is our kinsman Boaz, with whose
young women you have been working. See, he is
winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. Now wash
and anoint yourself, and put on your best clothes and go
down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself
known to the man until he has finished eating and
drinking. When he lies down, observe the place where he
lies; then, go and uncover his feet and lie down; and he will
tell you what to do.” She said to her, “All that you tell me I
will do.” So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife.
When they came together, the Lord made her conceive,
and she bore a son. Then the women said to Naomi,
“Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without
5
next-of-kin; and may his name be renowned in Israel! He
shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old
age; for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more
to you than seven sons, has borne him.” Then Naomi took
the child and laid him in her bosom, and became his
nurse. The women of the neighborhood gave him a name,
saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him
Obed; he became the father of Jesse, the father of David.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God
Psalm 127
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, *
their labor is in vain who build it.
2 Unless the Lord watches over the city, *
in vain the watchman keeps his vigil.
3 It is in vain that you rise so early and go to bed so
late; * vain, too, to eat the bread of toil,
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
4 Children are a heritage from the Lord, *
and the fruit of the womb is a gift.
5 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior *
are the children of one's youth.
6 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! *
he shall not be put to shame when he contends
with his enemies in the gate.
6
Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy
Spirit; as it was in the beginning is now and shall be
forever. Amen
Second lesson: A reading from the word of God written
in the 9th Chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews
beginning at the 24th verse (Hebrews 9:24-28)
Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a
mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven
itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the high
priest enters the Holy Place year after year with blood that
is not his own; for then he would have had to suffer again
and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he
has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove
sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed
for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, so
Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,
will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save
those who are eagerly waiting for him.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God
Gradual Hymn: 513
Come all Christians, be committed
to the service of the Lord.
Make your lives for him more fitted;
t.une your hearts with one accord.
Come into his courts with gladness;
each his sacred vows renew.
Turn away from sin and sadness;
be transformed with life anew.
7
Of your time and talents give him –
they are gifts from God above
to be used by Christians freely
to proclaim his wondrous love.
Come again to serve the Saviour;
tithes and offerings with you bring.
In your work, with him find favour,
and with joy his praises sing.
God’s command to love each other
is required of everyone.
Showing mercy to each other
mirrors his redeeming Son.
In compassion he has given
of his love that is divine.
On the cross sins were forgiven;
joy and peace are fully thine.
Come in praise and adoration,
all who on Christ’s name believe.
Worship him with consecration;
grace and love will you receive.
For his grace give him the glory,
for the Spirit and the word;
and repeat the gospel story
till the world his name has heard.
8
The Holy Gospel
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
A reading from the Holy Gospel According to Mark, the
12th chapter, beginning at the 38th verse. (Mark 12:38-44)
Glory to Christ our Saviour
As Jesus taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like
to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with
respect in the marketplaces, and to have the best seats in
the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! They
devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance
say long prayers. They will receive the greater
condemnation.” He sat down opposite the treasury, and
watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many
rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put
in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then
he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you,
this poor widow has put in more than all those who are
contributing to the treasury. For all of them have
contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her
poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live
on.”

THE NICENE CREED
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen or unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfilment of the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and
glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
10
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of
sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead.
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

ACT OF PENITENCE

And let it begin with me
Offertory Hymn 346
Summoned by the God who made us
rich in our diversity,
gathered in the name of Jesus,
richer still in unity:
Refrain:
Let us bring the gifts that differ
and, in splendid, varied ways,
sing a new church into being
one in faith and love and praise.
Radiant risen from the water,
robed in holiness and light,
male and female in God’s image
male and female, God’s delight:
Refrain
15
Trust the goodness of creation;
trust the Spirit strong within.
dare to dream the vision promised
sprung from seed of what has been.
Refrain
Bring the hopes of every nation;
bring the art of every race.
weave a song of peace and justice;
let it sound through time and space.
Refrain:
Draw together at one table
all the human family;
shape a circle ever wider
and a people ever free.
HYMN 742
I vow to thee, my country,
all earthly things above,
entire and whole and perfect,
the service of my love:
the love that asks no question,
the love that stands the test,
that lays upon the altar
the dearest and the best;
the love that never falters,
the love that pays the price,
the love that makes undaunted
the final sacrifice.
16
And there's another country,
I've heard of long ago,
most dear to them that love her,
most great to them that know;
we may not count her armies,
we may not see her King;
her fortress is a faithful heart,
her pride is suffering;
and soul by soul and silently
her shining bounds increase,
and her ways are ways of gentleness
and all her paths are peace.
HOLY EUCHARIST
THE OFFERTORY PRAYER
ALL
Father, We offer to you these gifts which you have given
us; this bread, this wine, this money. With them we
offer ourselves, our lives, and our work, to become
through your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively
sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and
Blood of Christ, so may we and all your people become
channels of your love; through the same Christ our
Lord. Amen.
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
PRESIDENT The Lord be with you.
ALL And also with you.
PRESIDENT Lift up your hearts.
ALL We lift them up to the Lord.
PRESIDENT Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
ALL It is right to give God thanks and praise
17
PRESIDENT
For by water and the Holy Spirit you have made us a new
people in Jesus Christ our Lord, to show forth your glory in
all the world.
Proper Preface
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. For in the saints you have
given us an example of godly living; that rejoicing in their
fellowship, we may run with perseverance the race that is
set before us, and with them receive the crown of glory.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with angels
and archangels and with all the company of heaven, who
forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
ALL
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might;
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Eucharistic Prayer D
PRESIDENT
All glory, praise. and thanksgiving be unto you, O Lord,
Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, you created the
world and all mankind, and of your tender mercy gave your
only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon Him, and to
suffer death upon the cross, for our redemption. He made
there, by His own oblation of Himself once offered. a full,
perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction
for the sins of the whole world; and He instituted, and in
18
His holy Gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual
memory of His precious death, until His coming again.
Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you;
and he pleased to accept, bless and sanctify these gifts
and creatures of bread and wine, that they may be for us
the Body and Blood of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ,
For, on the night He was betrayed He took bread, and
when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it
to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it:
This is my Body which is given for you. Do this for the
remembrance of me”.
And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He
had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this,
all of you: This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is
shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins,
Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of
me.”
PRESIDENT
In faith we acclaim You, O Christ
ALL:
Dying You destroyed our death;
Rising You restored our life;
Christ Jesus, come in glory.
Now therefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we your
servants with all your holy people, having in remembrance
the blessed passion, mighty resurrection, and glorious
ascension of your beloved Son, do offer unto your Divine
Majesty this Bread of eternal life and this Cup of
19
everlasting salvation, rendering thanks to you for the
wonderful redemption which you have made possible for
us in Him.
And we beseech you O Father, to accept upon your
heavenly altar this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving:
and to grant that by the merits and death of your Son Jesus
Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and all your
whole Church may obtain remission of our sins and all
other benefits of His passion.
And we pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit all who
shall be partakers of this holy Communion may be filled
with your grace and heavenly benediction, and be
numbered in the glorious company of your Saints.
And here we offer and present unto you O Lord, ourselves,
our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and lively
sacrifice.
And although we are unworthy to offer unto you any
sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this, our bounden
duty and service, not weighing our merits hut pardoning
our offenses;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom,
and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and
glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, throughout all ages,
world without end.
PEOPLE: Amen.
20
THE LORD'S PRAYER
PRESIDENT
As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray:
ALL
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD
PRESIDENT
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
ALL
Though we are many, we are one body, because we all
share in one bread.
The Agnus Dei
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world:
grant us peace
21
The Invitation Form A
PRESIDENT
My brothers and sisters in Christ, draw near and receive
His Body which He gave for you, and His Blood, which He
shed for you. Remember that He died for you, and feed on
Him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
ALL
Grant gracious Lord, that we so eat the flesh of your
dear Son, Jesus Christ, and drink His blood, that we
may evermore dwell in Him and He in us. Amen.
THE SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER
Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits
you have given me, for all the pains and insults you
have borne for me. Since I cannot now receive you
sacramentally, I ask you to come spiritually into my
heart. O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother,
may I know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and
follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.
HYMNS FOR THE EUCHARIST
Hymn 617
Once, only once, and once for all,
his precious life he gave;
before the cross our spirits fall,
and own it strong to save.
‘One offering, single and complete,’
with lips and heart we say;
but what he never can repeat
he shows forth day by day.
22
For, as the priest of Aaron’s line
within the holiest stood,
and sprinkled all the mercy-shrine
with sacrificial blood;
So he, who once atonement wrought,
our Priest of endless power,
presents himself for those he bought
in that dark noontide hour.
His manhood pleads where now it lives
on heaven’s eternal throne,
and where in mystic rite he gives
its presence to his own.
And so we show thy death, O Lord,
till thou again appear;
and feel, when we approach thy board,
we have an altar here.
*All glory to the Father be,
all glory to the Son,
all glory, Holy Ghost, to thee,
while endless ages run.
Hymn: 606
Lord, accept the alms we offer,
tokens of our love to thee;
out of grateful hearts we render
this our act of charity;
even though full well we know
all we have to thee we owe.
23
Use them, Father, to thy glory,
teach us fully how to give,
for his sake who leaving heaven
gave us all that we might live:
all we have could not suffice
to repay his sacrifice.
Now the priest upon the altar
doth present the bread and wine,
to become, in wondrous manner,
for our souls the food divine:
soul and body by thee fed,
praise we give for daily bread.
With our alms and our oblations
take, O Lord, our prayers of love;
make thy church in fullest concord
serve as one, below, above;
and in fellowship complete
reach at last thy mercy-seat.
Hymn 504
JUST as I am, without one plea
but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou bidst me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt,
fightings and fears, within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come.
24
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
sight, riches, healing of the mind,
yea, all I need, in thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve:
because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am (thy love unknown
has broken every barrier down),
now to be thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, of that free love
the breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Children’s Hymn 322 (Blessing)
It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
and soon all those around, can warm up in its glowing;
that's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced
it:
you spread his love to everyone;
you want to pass it on.
What a wondrous time is spring when all the trees are
budding,
the birds begin to sing; the flowers start their blooming;
that's how it is with God's love,
once you've experienced it you want to sing,
It’s fresh like spring; you want to pass it on.
25
I wish for you, my friend, this happiness that I've found;
you can depend on him, it matters not where you’re
bound;.
I'll shout it from the mountaintop,
I want my world to know;
the Lord of love has come to me, I want to pass it on.
Post Communion
ALL
Eternal God and Heavenly Father,
we thank you for feeding us
with the Body and Blood
of your Son Jesus Christ.
Send us now into the world in peace,
and grant us strength and courage
to love and serve you, and all persons in you, with
gladness and singleness of heart, through your Son
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
THE DISMISSAL
The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will
guard your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of
God and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, and the blessing
of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
