Lecture Notes

The class notes cover Newton's Laws of Motion, detailing the First Law of Inertia, Second Law relating force and acceleration (F=ma), and the Third Law of Action and Reaction. Additionally, the notes explain the concepts of work and energy, defining work (W=F×d), kinetic energy (KE=1/2mv²), and potential energy (PE=mgh). Students are reminded to study real-life examples of these concepts.

Here are some more short class notes:

Class Notes: Laws of Motion

Date: March 29, 2025

Subject: Physics
Topic: Newton's Laws of Motion

1. First Law (Law of Inertia):

An object will remain at rest or move at a constant velocity unless
acted upon by an external force.

2. Second Law (Force and Acceleration):

The force on an object is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by
its acceleration:

F=maF = ma

o Force (F) is in Newtons (N), mass (m) in kilograms (kg), and

acceleration (a) in m/s².

3. Third Law (Action and Reaction):

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

End of Notes

 Reminder: Study examples of Newton's laws in real-life situations

(e.g., car acceleration, jumping).

Class Notes: Work and Energy

Date: March 29, 2025

Subject: Physics
Topic: Work and Energy

1. Work:
Work is done when a force acts on an object and moves it in the
direction of the force.
W=F×dW = F \times d

o Work (W) is in joules (J), force (F) in newtons (N), and distance (d)
in meters (m).

2. Energy:
Energy is the capacity to do work.

o Kinetic Energy (KE): Energy due to motion.

KE=12mv2KE = \frac{1}{2} mv^2

 Where mm is mass, vv is velocity.

3. Potential Energy (PE):

Energy stored due to an object's position or configuration.

PE=mghPE = mgh

o Where mm is mass, gg is acceleration due to gravity, and hh is

height.

End of Notes

 Reminder: Review kinetic and potential energy examples, such as a

moving car or an object lifted to a height.
