Procedure Text
A. Definition (Pengertian)
What is procedure text? Procedure text is a text that explains, informs, or helps the reader on
how to make or use something.
B. Purpose (Tujuan)
The purpose of procedure text is to show how something is made/used/done through
sequence of steps. tujuan procedure text adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu dibuat,
dilakukan atau digunakan melalui langkah-langkah yang berurutan.
C. Generic Structure (Struktur Teks Prosedur)
in procedure text there are 3 parts of generic structure
1. Goal: is a procedural text structure that explains the purpose.
2. Materials: is a procedural text structure that explains the tools and materials needed.
3. Steps: which contains steps or instructions for making or doing something.
D. Kinds of Procedure Text (Macam-macam Teks prosedur)
1. Manuals (buku manual): If we have bought a gadget, bought a TV, we will get a book
that is used to explain how we operate these products. The explanation in this text
will be specific, so that we who have bought the product do not make mistakes in
operating it.
2. Recipes (Resep): example in this section is a food or drink recipe, is one of the most
common procedural texts. In this text there will be detailed instructions, such as
what tools and ingredients we need, to how to cook in sequence so that the cooking
results are according to the reader's expectations.
E. Language Features (Unsur Kebahasaan)
1. Imperatives Sentences (Kalimat Perintah) Imperative sentences always begin with
verb 1 of an action verb or a verb that involves physical activity.

2. Connectives (kata penghubung): The steps in the procedural text are arranged
sequentially, so from one step to the next step, we use connectives. Examples: First,
Second, Then, and then, After that, Last,Finally.
3. Adverb: We used adverb of manners (kata keterangan cara) to clarify instructions to
provide the expected results. Examples: Finely ground (digiling halus), Stir it until
well (aduk sampai rata), pour it Slowly (Tuangkan perlahan)
Berdasarkan data PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) 2022,
Indonesia kini menempati peringkat 70 dari 80 negara dengan skor literasi membaca
hanya sebesar 359.
