Setting the driving rods

Driving rods 1 are fitted in the driving rod holders

with screws 2. The screw connections 3 (counter-
sunk nuts at front, countersunk screws at rear)
are greased lightly and tightened with 40 Nm.

Slacken screws 2 and adjust the harness drive

linkages to measurement a, which can be found
in the table below.

Tighten screw 2 with 11 Nm.

Note: When machines are supplied, the driving

rods have already been set to the correct length
ex works.

Replacing the bronze bushing

Pushing out the bronze bushing

Insert pressing sleeve 4 into the bronze bushing

and from the other side, screw threaded bolt with
star knob 9 through spring washer and spacer
into the pressing sleeve.

The bronze bushing is then pushed out by turning

the star knob while holding the pressing sleeve
firm. The pressing device is then screwed apart
and the bronze bushing removed.

Inserting a new bronze bushing

Fit a new bronze bushing onto pressing sleeve 4

and centre it to the hole in the driving rod.

From the other side, screw the threaded bolt with

star knob 9 through the spring washer and spacer
into the pressing sleeve.

The bronze bushing is then pressed into the dri-

ving rod by turning star knob 9 and pushing pres-
sing sleeve 4 firmly against it until the pressing
sleeve is right up against the driving rod.

Unscrew and remove the complete pressing

device.

Setting the shaft movement

Program the Bobby with a plain weave.

Turn the weaving machine into closed shed posi-

tion until all lifting jacks 5 are at the point of
intersection.

Once screws 6 have been slackened, all clamp-

ing links 7 are pushed downwards.

Tighten screws 6 slightly.

The 10,6 mm dimension (basic setting) can be set

separately for each clamping loop by turning
screws 8 in or out.

Fit harness stroke setting gage.

For smooth fabrics and terry fabrics the following

gages are used:

D obby m odel ite m n o .

2 6 7 0 -1 6 632 047 506

2 6 7 0 -2 0 632 047 507

The following gages are used for very delicate fab-

rics:

D obby m odel ite m n o .

2 6 2 2 -1 2 632 047 501

2 6 7 0 -1 6 632 047 502

2 6 7 0 -2 0 632 047 503

2 6 7 0 -2 4 632 047 504

2 8 6 1 -2 4 632 047 505

Attach the setting gauge for the required shafts to

the basic gauge, depending on the shed angle,
and secure with screw 11.

Note: If you are working with a raceboard, the

shed angle should not exceed 22°, otherwise the
warp ends in the lower shed would be over-tensio-
ned.

Slacken screws 6 on the occupied harness drive

linkages and beat up clamping links 7 on the har-
ness stroke setting gage.

Tighten all screws 6 with 12 Nm.

Remove gage.

Note: Since the closed shed line can be altered

slightly by the change in shaft movement, this
must be checked and reset if necessary in accor-
dance with the instructions "Setting the shaft
height".

Setting the shaft height

If harness drive linkages were set to dimension a

before the healds were attached (see table on
page 2), the process of setting harness height and
closed shed line can be started.

Program the dobby with a plain weave.

Turn the machine into closed shed position with

the handwheel, until all lifting jacks 5 are at the
point of intersection.

Slightly loosen screws 6 of the occupied driving

rods and ensure that the height of the clamping
loop 7 is not altered.

Set the closed shed line 10 of all shafts by turning

screws 8 in or out.

Note. The closed shed line 10 is determined by

the style and lies approx. 0 - 1.5 mm above
the gripper tip.

Tighten all screws 6 with 12 Nm.

Check: Turn the weaving machine into open shed

position and check the weaving shed over the enti-
re drawn-in width.
In the lower shed (at b = 35.5 mm), the warp ends
must be at least 6 ...7 mm below the upper edge of
the supporting teeth.
The warp ends in the upper shed must be at a dis-
tance of at least 2.5 ... 3 mm from the upper reed
baulk.

Parking position of the driving rods

If fewer shafts are to be used than there are shaft

drives, the unused driving rods 1 must be placed
in the corresponding slots of driving rod holder
12..

Tighten screws 13 of the closing strip with 15 ...20

Nm.

It is vital that unused harness drives are adjusted

as shown in the diagram to prevent loss of oil and
any possible risk of the harness drive linkages
crashing. This is achieved by securing clamping
links 7 of unused harness drives to lifting jacks 5
using screws 6 as shown in the diagram.

Caution! To make sure that the bearing

points of units which are not being
used are also kept lubricated, the
dobby performs a lifting motion on
all the lifting units one after the
other every 30 minutes.

Lateral position of the shaft assembly

Caution! The left-hand lateralshaft guide 14

should never be moved.

Position the right-hand lateral shaft guide 15 so

that the shaft assembly still has 1 mm play at the
side. Tighten screws 16 and check lateral play of
the heald shafts.
