SCENE-1 - Drummer

A young teen enters home late. (Meanwhile, her mother walks towards her, stressed, looking at
her watch)

Mom: Is this the time you come home? Why are you late?
Teen: Uhm… Ma… We had a special class today…
Mom: Hmm… Wait! What's in your hand?
Teen: (hides the paper immediately) Nothing ma! It's just.. My report card..
Mom: (snatches the sheet) Let me see your grades(examines the paper with shock and rage)
What is this!? How can you get a 'D' and 'E' in all your subjects? You useless fellow! You'll never
improve in life. You're fit for nothing. You will become worse than a maid if you go on like this! Get
away from my sight! I should not see your disgraceful face after this.

Scene cuts to a girl holding the trunk of a mango tree and saying:

"Mango Tree, Mango

Tree Give me some
apples"

Mom: You foolish idiot. How can you expect a mango tree to give you apples?
Messenger: Just like you can't expect apples from a mango tree, you cannot expect good grades from
your daughter. You should not pressurize a person to do well if they are not efficient enough. Rather you
should encourage your daughter in her other talents.

Song:
Stop sexual abuse,
It's killing our childhood,
Say no (29)
(Tune – Jalabulajangu)

SCENE-2 - Drummer

The math teacher enters the class.

All students: Good morning sir!

Teacher: Good morning everyone, please get seated. Are you all ready to get your mark sheets?
Students: Yes sir/ No Sir (mixed answers)
Teacher: Very well then. (Starts calling out students’ names with their marks)
Teacher: (after calling out the name of a specific student) What happened my dear? Why are your
marks very low?
Student: (looks down in shame) I was not able to concentrate on this subject, Sir.
Teacher: Now all of you, check your mark sheets while I go and come. (Takes the failed student with
him. Puts his hand over shoulder and tightens the grip.)
All students: (whisper while pointing to the teacher sexually abusing the student)
Student: (pushes the teacher away and runs to commit suicide {stands on top of two people
and is shown dying by hanging herself} )

Song:
You do the same thing
You told me that you never would
Told me you'll change
But you never (3) do
We need a change (2)
(Tune - STAY)

SCENE-3 - Drummer

A mother leaves her child home alone after informing him that his uncle will be visiting.

Mother: My dear Sathish, your uncle will be visiting today. I have an important errand to run. Please
take care of him and treat him with hospitality.
Sathish: But mom I don't feel safe around him. He makes me very uncomfortable. It's as if he is
mentally traumatizing me.
Mother: What? He's not of that sort. You stop your imagination from going bonkers.
Sathish: But…(sighs) Okay mom. I'll take care of Uncle.
Mother: Hm.. I'll see you later dear.
Sathish: Bye… (goes inside the house and starts to read a book.)
Uncle: (knocks on the door)
Sathish: (with an anxious face) Oh my…Guess it's him… (opens the door and talks very stiffly)
Come inside Uncle, I'll bring a glass of water.
Uncle: It's fine dear. What happened? Why do you look dull? (Puts his arm on the Sathish’s
shoulder, he roughly pushes it and turns around pretending to walk)
Sathish: Oh, nothing that needs your concern.
Uncle: (is shocked but does not express it and goes stiffly to the hall and gets seated)
Sathish: (comes with a glass of water and gives it from a defined distance) Here you go, drink
it. (Refuses to make eye contact with his uncle while talking and instead stares at the floor)
Uncle: Thank you dear. (Drinks it and keeps the glass down) Let's talk about school. How are your
classes going on?
Sathish: Uhm.. It's fine… (tries to take the glass, Uncle grabs his wrist. His Uncle stands up,
Sathish pulls his hand away and the doorbell rings. His Mother enters.)
(Sathish runs to open the door, his Uncle gets seated like nothing happened and stares out of the
window. Sathish hugs his Mother.)
Mother: What happened dear?
Sathish: Oh mother, that uncle. How disgusting! He grabbed my wrist! I hate him!
Mother: How dare you speak of our relatives in such an awful manner! He is such a respected man in the
society. Now better go to your room. I will go and talk with him.
Sathish: No one understands me! (Runs crying to his room).

Song:
Don't spoil our childhood - by abusing
You don't know what we undergo - it's terrifying
For a better nation
Stop exploitation
Stop playing with us
Respect our emotions

(Tune –
Dippam Dappam)

SCENE-4 - Drummer

Vendor: Fertile eggs for sale! Fertile eggs for sale!

(Scene where the mother and daughter go to the vendor and gives him a box)

Drummer: Several years later when the mother is unfit to provide eggs, she decides to sell her daughter's
eggs who is now 14 years old.

(Scene where the mother calls her daughter after dinner)

Mother: So my dear. Now you are going to do us a great favor. Our life depends upon your sacrifice. You
know about me taking you to the vendor every year right?
Daughter: Yes mom, you take me with you to sell eggs.
Mother: Well, now the time has come that now I am unfit for it. Hereafter you must carry on my work.
You must not let anyone know it. It involves a lot of risk. This is our only hope.
Please dear.
Daughter: You have been selling them illegally? Oh mom, I would not do anything against the law!
(Rushes out of the room in a hurry)

All young victims of abuse gather together and express their opinion

SCENE-1 CHILD: Am I not good enough? Why aren't my other talents encouraged?
SCENE-2 CHILD: Aren't teachers supposed to be our second parents?
SCENE-3 CHILD: Yes, It happens to boys too.
SCENE-4 CHILD: Why are we misused when we can make a better future for ourselves?

Messenger: Yes my dear audience, as our elders words say that a child is as sacred as God, we misuse
their innocence and ruin their futures. We all play a very important role in sculpting the characters of our
future generations. When we discourage children of their talent, take advantage of their vulnerability,
instigate them against the law and order, we model them into the threats that will kill our species. As
Nelson Mandela once said,
"We owe our children - the most
vulnerable citizens in any society a life free from violence and fear. "
Let's bring a change in ourselves and in our society by making our country into a place where no one is
judged or misused. We conclude our drama by pledging to never hurt anyone and respect everyone.
