Scene 1: The Struggle of a Family
Narrator: once upon a time in a small home, two hard working parents and understanding daughters.
But the parents were worried because they didn’t have enough money. Let’s see what they decide.
(The father, dressed in a factory uniform is sitting after a long day of work. The mother is folding clothes
nearby.)
Mom: (with concern)
Suniye ji... we're running short of ration again this month. I don’t know what we’ll do. The thought of
going to bed with empty stomachs again—it terrifies me.
Dad: (voice strained)
Devi... this month too? Every night, hearing our daughters whisper they're hungry... it’s unbearable. It
feels like my heart is being torn apart.
(He stands up and paces)
Mom: I know... but what can we do? We’ve stretched every last rupee, yet it’s never enough.
Dad: We’re barely getting by, and our daughters are growing up. Maybe... maybe it’s time they stop
going to school. They could help us earn some money.
Mom: you’re right. School isn’t helping us with the bills, and we need every hand to work. Maybe it’s
better they start working now. We don’t have another choice.
Dad: You can take them at your job from tomorrow and i will continue working at the factory.
Scene 2: daughters secret talk
Narrator: the parents think making their daughters work will help. But is that the right choice? Let’s see
what the girls think?
(The two daughters, one elder and younger sit on the floor talking quietly)
Elder Daughter:(looking down)
Did you hear what Mom and Dad said? They want us to stop going to school and start working... like
them.
Young daughter: But i love school… i want to keep learning. i don’t want to stop going
Elder Daughter:
Me neither. I don’t want to see them working so hard forever. I think we should help them and go with
mom from tomorrow and work with her.
Younger daughter: (frowning)
yes we don’t have any other option.
Narrator: The daughters have big dreams. They want to learn and grow, but they know they must help
their parents too. Let’s see what happens next.
Scene 3: At Work with Mom
(The mom and her daughters cleaning the floor)
Mom: Hurry up! We need to finish here quickly and move on to the next house.
Narrator: Now the girls are helping their mom work as maids. But is this where they belong?
(The house owner watches them as they work)
House Owner:(surprised)
Wait, wait! Why are your daughters working with you? They should be in school, learning and playing
with other kids.
Mom: We need the money, madam. School isn’t helping us survive. We thought... they could help us
earn more this way.
House owner: These girls are the future, and education is their right. It will open doors for them that we
can’t even imagine. Without it, they will face the same struggles you do now.
Mom: But Madam, who will help me and my husband if they go to school? I still have to work to feed
them.
House Owner: There are many programs that offer free education. In fact, you don’t even have to pay for
their books and uniforms. And think of the long-term benefits, Rani. If they go to school now, they’ll be
able to take care of you in the future, with better jobs and more security. They’ll have a better life.
(elder and younger daughter get happy)
Elder daughter: really? We can go to school now?
House Owner: Education is your right. Every child should be in school, learning and growing.
Mom: Go, my daughters. You have a bright future ahead. School will be your first step toward it.
