SCENE 1 (00:12)
AH BOY: Ahh! gasp!
MOM: Ah Boy! Wake up! Quickly! You are late already! cough cough
AH BOY: I’m coming, I’m coming!
MOM: Ah Boy... Come and eat quickly. Your papa already ate. cough
AH BOY: Ah papa why do you eat so fast? You didn’t wait for me.
(both Boy and Ma resume eating)
AH BOY: Ma I’ll go and deliver the newspapers after I finish eating.
MOM: cough cough Alright. Eat slowly and be careful.

(Ah Boy delivers the newspapers in the village)

(Ah Boy enters class)
TEACHER: Class, open your textbooks to page number 15. We will be
having a test next month, so we will be reviewing this now.
(knock knock knock)
TEACHER: Prince Chen! You are late again! In my class students are
not allowed to be late! Run for ten rounds now!
AH BOY: aww… But teacher… I just got to school… Can I run for five
rounds instead?
TEACHER: You dare to bargain with me?! Run for ten rounds then add
five rounds more!
(School kids laugh)
TEACHER: Class, everyone has their own talent that you should try to

(Boy walks back to class panting)

(School bus honks)

(Bus leaves Ah Boy behind)

(Ah Boy walks to the playground)
BULLY 1: Rock... Paper! Haha beat you again loser. Hey… it’s Prince…
Hey Prince! Don’t go anywhere! Wait up! What do you have there? Let
me see! Run for 500 meters? I want to join too! You’re going to join?
You won’t win. There’s no need for you to join. Do you guys agree?
BULLY 2 & 3: Yeah!
BULLY 1: You want to win? Then you’ll have to run faster than me first.

(Ah Boy and Bully get ready to race)

(Ah Boy walks home defeated and spots a shoe vendor)
OLD MAN: Hello little boy! Do you want to buy some shoes?
AH BOY: Oh wow! I like these shoes.
OLD MAN: Ahh! These shoes are very popular. I’ll give it to you for thirty
pesos if you want.
AH BOY: Huh... thirty pesos... I don’t have any money.
OLD MAN: Never mind then. You can get lost kid.

(Ma and Boy at home)
MOM: Ah Boy. You’re back already? Lunch is ready. Wash your hands
quick and have something to eat! Boy? Boy? Aya?! What happened to
your leg! Hay! You wait for me and I’ll go get the medicine.
AH BOY: Okay… hurt panting
MOM: Ohh… why did it become like this? So careless.
AH BOY: Ahh... It’s painful…
MOM: Painful?
AH BOY: I accidentally stepped on a stone. Ah! Ow!
MOM: Done. Now it’s time to eat your lunch. I’ll go out first, then you
walk out slowly later. Understood?

MOM: Good.
(Ah Boy reads his competition flyer)

MOM: What is this? Ahh Boy, Boy… Your studies are very important.

(Ah Boy returns to the shoe vendor)
OLD MAN: Oh little boy it’s you again? Do you want to buy some shoes?

OLD MAN: Ahh these shoes I’ll give you for 40 pesos.

you.
(Bullies spots Ah Boy with new shoes)
BULLY 1: Oy! Isn’t that Prince?
BULLY 2 & 3: Yeah
BULLY 1: What’s he doing there buying shoes? Aww so rich! Let’s go
over there and bully him hehehe…
OLD MAN: Thank you little boy.
AH BOY: Thank you!
SCENE 9 (11 :20)
(Ah Boy cries at home after his shoes are stolen)
MOM: Ah Boy! What happened? Cough cough
AH BOY: I lost my new shoes…
MOM: Don’t cry… Don’t cry… Come let’s go inside and have dinner…
Please don’t cry…
(Ah Boy continues to cry while mom gets something in the house)
MOM: Prince… Have a look, I’ve repaired your shoes. Although they
may look ugly... at least you can still wear these… cough
(Ah Boy throws the shoes to the ground)
AH BOY: MA! You don’t understand that’s not what I want! I want a new
pair of sport shoes! Not broken ugly shoes! I don’t know why I was born
in this poor family!
(Ah Boy runs to his room still crying. Mom follows him and leaves the
shoes in his room. Ah Boy reads a note left by his mother)
MOM: Prince… I know that in this single family I can’t give you anything
new... And what I may give may never meet your demands. Maybe you
will blame yourself for being born in to this poor family. But I want to tell
you that the moment you were born in to this family… Happiness
followed in your steps… At that moment, I was filled with joy and full of
love…. Mama is already old. My body is not as strong as it once was.
But I hope that I will be able to take care of you always… Although
these shoes are broken… I hope I can still save it for you. Because even
broken old shoes have its value. Your father is gone because of an
accident. He left nothing behind… Only a pair of old sport shoes. I pass

(Boy hugs Mom while they both cry)
MOM: Ah Boy… I know that you are good boy… Work hard to help this
family… I know that you hope to win this competition. I will support you

SCENE 10 (15 :00)
(The day of the school running competition has arrived)
BULLY 1: Ah Boy! Hehe... Sorry for throwing away your shoes last time.
Snarking Oy! New shoes again? You won’t win anyway. Why did you
even come here? Go back home and sleep or something. You can’t win!
ANNOUNCER: Today is our running competition for the 500meter dash.
Our champion will be receiving a cash prize of up to 500 pesos! Good
luck to all of those who will be competing. We will start the race in
approximately two minutes from now. Are all of you ready? Everybody
give around of applause for our contestants!
(crowd claps and cheers)
ANNOUNCER: Is everyone excited! Our contestants are now warming
up to the field and the race will begin very soon.
COACH: On your marks!...
(gunshot is fired and the race begins. While running Prince is pushed by
one of the bullies and falls down. A look of determination is shown in his
face and he quickly gets back up. He runs as fast as he possibly can
and wins the race! Both Prince and Ma are awarded the trophy and prize
money. Everyone smiles for the camera.)
