III. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the students to the fundamental concepts and principles of the monetary system, monetary policy, and the role, the functions of the
central banking systems of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Federal System and the European Central bank. Topics include money creation and
central banking: instruments of monetary policy, operations of the monetary board, crosses, models and curves; monetary theories, policies ideas and results.
This course covers the system of public finance. This course develops in the students an in-depth understanding of monetary concepts relevant to the finance
to the finance function.

IV. COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this course the students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate understanding and explain the workings of banks and other financial institutions with regards to the profitability, liquidity and solvency.
2. Relate to the real life situations on the importance of the workings of banking institutions and other financial intermediaries that are equipped with
honesty and integrity.
3. Develop appropriate values such as respect/politeness to clients.
4. Practice what they have learned in school when they become employees of a bank.
