may be at the demobilization stage.
Step 9:
Remove Footings by gas cutting: Gas cylinder to be equipped with flash back arrester and
fire blanket with fire extinguisher. The personnel cutting the footing should hold a valid
certificate. Area around the cutting zone should be free of fire prone materials like wood
pieces, rags, fuel etc. proper sanitation around the vicinity of the operation.
Step 10:
RCC foundation to be taking care of by the project team
PICTORIAL DEMONSTRATION OF SEQUENCE OF TOWER CRANE DISMANTLING
All sections of Crane will be inspected visually at plant yard and at site by supervisors.
Materials to be delivered on 12 meter long trailer with maximum of 20 ton materials.
Preparation:
a- RCC foundation to be prepared as per approved design
b- Well compacted space to be prepared at the close range to the RCC foundation for mobile crane
positioning
c- Lay down area of 75m x 10m space at close range to mobile crane positioning and foundation
Unloading Procedure
a- Delivery inspected by the site logistic team.
b- Once drivers reached the site, they will be inducted and given the directions to tower Crane
unloading location
c- Truck directed to material lay down area for the crane
d- Plant team in association with site safety conduct a joint material safe handling exercise and off
load the truck
NB : Mobile crane for the offloading to be jointly assessed by the plant team and safety
department for safe lift and documentation.
e- Lifting Operation Procedure to be complied with relative to the offloading of materials.
f- Working area must be barricaded with appropriate safety signs displayed during the offloading
procedure.
Power requirement
a- Total power supply of 250kva shall be recommended for each crane.
b- MCCB with enclosed breaker of 250 amps recommended for the isolating system panel
c- 95 MM2 Cables for power supply will be laid down 50cm below ground level with required
warning tapes and tiles as per attached layout
d- The closer the power sources the smaller the size of the armour cable. But not smaller than
50mm2
e- The chosen armour cable to run underground to prevent frequent running over by site earth
moving machines
f- Continuous cable is recommended to avoid power leakage from jointed end
g- Boom lighting 220v/400watts to be arranged by the projects and fix on the boom before erecting
the boom.
Assembly of crane members
Prior to any erection work, weather forecast will be checked before & continuously during the
time of assembling, maximum allowable wind speed is 25 km/hr.
the below are our assembly sequence by the help of a 50 ton mobile crane
Vertical members:
a- All sections to be pre-assembled from plant yard and delivered to site.
b- The Lifting Engineer of the plant and Machinery shall be responsible for correct assembly and
safe delivery of parts.
c- Climbing cage platforms and safety rails assemble at site.
d- Operators cabin to be fixed with the slewing member with the shear pins provided by the
manufacturer.
e- Connecting the cat head and the back tie bar.
Horizontal members:
a- Connect the back jibs together with the specified shear pins and cutter pins and safety lock pins
b- Connect the front jib with the specified safety pins and locks
c- Fix the jib lightings and the radius flags
6 Erection
Crane members and accessories to be physically inspected for
damage/structural deformation by the plant Engineer, 160 ton mobile crane as the minimum
capacity for the lift, erection of the crane shall be as following:
1- Connect the master section to the basic sections up to 15m high from G level
2- Ensure the ladders and rest platform is secured.
3- Rest platform is available in the tower crane for every 9m
4- Fix the assembled climbing cage
5- Fix more sections up to 34m and 40m on either crane from G level,i.e 19m and 25m from
heights mentioned in section of erection.
6- Fix the slewing head and the cabin
7- Fix the cat head
8- Fix the fully assembled back jib
9- Fix a counter weight
10- Fix the hoisting motor mechanism
11- Power will be supplied to Tower Crane MSDB.
12- Electrical Connection to be made by the competent electricians and competence certificate to
be provided before installation.
13- Connect power supply of 250amps to the hoisting motor
14- Fix the 70m assembled front jib
15- Connect the front and back tie bars
