ACROSPORT
What is acrosport? Its an acrobatic-choreography sport, that integrate three key
elements:
Formation of body figures and pyramids.
Doing floor gymnastic skills (jumps, spins and balances) that are used such
as transitions of some other figures.
Music, choreography component that supports the combination of the
previous items.

You can also define as a cooperative sport, where some other people work
together to get figures and human pyramids
This activity demands strength and flexibility (basic physical skills),
coordination and balance (motor skills) and most of all this activity requires
responsibility and cooperation. The importance of the assistance (helps) between
members is crucial.
Differences between figure and pyramid:
FIGURES are body combinations done by all or some of the members of the group
without being one above another.
PYRAMIDES are combinations or figures in which at least there are two levels.
Always the lower levels are wider than the upper ones.
THE ROLES
Each member of the team has always a role that
has to be clear before we start to assure the safety of the
activity. We can make a difference between three roles
in acrosport:
PORTOR or LIFTER: it is the person that is situated
at the base, using his or her body for support.
ACROBAT or AGILE: is the person who is lifted.
They are those who perform more complicated
elements (acrobatics) and climb to the upper levels
of the pyramids.
ASSISTANCE or HELPER: its function is to assists
in the phases required and aesthetics take a position
in the final of the structure.

These functions may be combined by making every member assume all the
roles.
Team work is very important especially the helpers who support the person
being lifted. The supporters MUST NOT force any position.
SAFETY
Every member can assume all the roles but you must pay attention in buildingup the structures in a proper way. Sometimes to create a correct figure or pyramide is
not about strength but the correct application of it and the right balance between
partners.
For the lifter (portor): the correct position is a straight back and spine, maintaining
the muscle tone all the time without relaxing the trunk
For the person being lifted (agile), must be stable the whole time. They must not
move until the lifter is completely stable. You must pay special attention in the
contact point with the lifter: IT MUST NEVER BE ON THE CENTER OF THE
BACK SPINE. The proper contact points are the shoulders and the end of the back.
THE HAND GRIPS
How do we hold each other? In acrosport there are different grips that we can
use depending on the figure or the pyramid. They are an important aspect to guarantee
the safety and the correct stability of the structure. We can difference:
HAND TO HAND GRIP
HAND TO WRIST GRIP
PINCH GRIP

FIGURE BUILDING RULES
Team members: each team will have more members than the ones needed to build the
structure or pyramid. They are the helpers and must always pay attention to their
partners.
The build up: You must build the structure in a coordinate way. Help is always
needed. The structure must start from the center and grow to the sides. The last parts
must be the upper levels.
Stabilisation: The position must always be held, especially if you are supporting a
partner. Structures must last at least five seconds.
Dismantling the structure: It must be coordinated. In reverse of the building, and
always with help.
Roles: Each person must practice each position, building a figure, helpers must
change places with those who were previously part of the structure.
KEEP ON MOVING, PLEASE!
