The Blood Ring spell allows a caster to call upon creatures they have previously prepared over decades or centuries to aid them in battle. Each round, the caster can summon one creature from their blood ring to fight for them until the spell ends. The summoned creatures cannot harm the caster or each other and will intelligently combat the caster's enemies. To prepare a creature, the caster must implant a drop of their own blood inside the creature's body.

Blood Ring
Type: Conjuration (Calling) Source: Original User: garethb23
Level: Sorcerer 9, Wizard 9 Spell Chain: Components: F,S,V,XP Casting Time: 1 full round Range: 0 Effect: One or more creatures previously prepared Duration: 1 round per level (D) Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No Summary: Calls one or more creatures that have been previously prepared to aid y ou in battle. NB - Inspired by a spell in "Elminster in Hell" by Ed Greenwood. Description: The Simbul of Aglarond created this complex spell and few others kn ow its secrets. When cast, it calls a number of creatures to aid the caster in battle at a rate of one per round. Those called on a previous round remain to fight on. The caste r chooses which of the ring of creatures available she wishes to appear that rou nd and how many of the ring will appear at all. The called creatures appear no m atter what barriers to summoning and astral travel exist around the caster excep ting an antimagic field or a dead magic zone or similar. If the creatures die in battle, they are no longer part of the ring and actually die, unlike summoned creatures. Those creatures left alive at the end of the sp ell's duration vanish none the worse for wear and are available the next time this spell is cast. Each of the creatures cannot, in any manner, detect the caster nor the other cal led creatures and none of their attacks or spells will affect each other or the caster. They react as if the caster's enemies were their enemies and will fight in telligently, using all of their abilities. In preparation for this spell, each of the creatures to be called must, somehow, have a drop of the caster's blood inside their bodies in a cyst, tiny receptacle or some such container. This blood drop has to remain liquid and whole. The care that it takes to set this spell up means that it can take decades or ev en centuries to form a blood ring. The Simbul's blood ring is known to contain at least 2 Red Wizards of Thay, a beholder of large size and an adult red dragon. Focus: a drop of the caster's blood inside each of the creatures. XP cost: 5000 experience points.
