BABY BLOCKS QUILT By Joan Bassett

Size 36 x 36 MATERIAL NEEDED White background 1-1/8 yard Pink 2/3 yard Blue 3/4 yard Backing One piece 42 x 42 Batting One piece 41 x 41 CUTTING From white fabric cut: Seven strips 3 by width of fabric (selvedge to selvedge). From these strips cut (64) 3 squares. Six strips 1 by width of fabric for strip piecing. From pink cut: Two strips 3 by width of fabric. From these strips cut (16) 3 squares. Eight strips 1 by width of fabric. From two of these strips cut (32) 1 squares. Save the remaining six strips for strip piecing. From blue fabric cut: Eight strips 1 by width of fabric. From two of these strips cut (32) 1 squares. Save the remaining six strips for strip piecing. Four strips 2 by width of fabric for binding. ASSEMBLY Use seam allowances for all piecing unless otherwise instructed. Step 1. Sew a 1 white, blue and pink strip, right sides together, lengthwise. Press seams to the blue. Repeat five more times for a total of six pieced strips. Sub cut into (64) 3 sections. See Diagram 1. Blocks measure 9 x 9 finished.

Diagram 1 Step 2. Draw a diagonal line on the back of the (32) 1 pink squares. Place a marked square on one corner of a 3 white square. Stitch on the marked line. See Diagram 2. Trim seam allowance to . Diagram 2a. Press pink back over the seam allowance. Diagram 2b. Make a total of thirty two units.
