FP Uptown

This document provides instructions for making a 66" x 87" quilt using 27 different coordinating fabrics. It includes a list of the fabrics needed and cutting instructions for each piece. Quilter Basics:
Read instructions before beginning a project. All instructions include a " seam allowance. Label each group of cut pieces. Press as you go. Press seams in one direction toward the darker fabric whenever possible

Fabrics:
Coordinating fabrics for color blocks 27 Total 18 fabrics yard each 9 fabrics yard each Sashing and Inner border 1 yards Outer Border 1 yards Binding yard Backing 5 yards 72"x93" Batting

Note: There are 61 color blocks of varying sizes in this quilt.

From yard assortment (18), cut: Block A B C D E F G H I J K Size 2"x 7" 3"x 7" 3"x 7" 4"x 7" 5"x 7" 5"x 7" 6"x 7" 7"x 7" 8"x 7" 8"x 7" 9"x 7" to Cut 1 3 1 6 6 3 6 3 6 6 3

Cutting:
From Inner Border/Sashing fabric, cut: 7 strips, 2"x WOF for inner border Piece and cut: 2 strips, 2"x72" for sides 2 strips, 2"x54" for top and bottom 9 strips, 3"x WOF for sashing Then cut: 23 rectangles, 3"x7" 11 rectangles, 3"x10" From Outer Border fabric, cut: 8 strips, 6"x WOF Piece and cut: 2 strips 6"x75" for sides 2 strips, 6"x66" for top and bottom From Binding fabric, cut: 8 strips, 2"x WOF

From yard assortment (9), cut: Block L M N O P Size 5"x 10" 7"x 10" 8"x 10" 10"x 10" 10"x 10" to Cut 6 6 2 3 3

Assemble Quilt:
1. Arrange the cut color blocks and vertical sashing segments in 9 rows as illustrated. Letters in diagram correspond with the cut color blocks. Rows 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 will nish at 7" in height. Rows 2, 5 and 8 will nish at 10" in height. 2. Sew blocks and sashing together in rows. Press joining seams in one direction, alternating directions for each consecutive row. 3. Sew rows together. 4. Add borders starting with inner border. Sew sides rst then top and bottom. Then add outer border in the same manner. Row 6 Row 7 Row 1

Finishing:
1. Prepare the binding. Press binding strips in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. 2. To quilt, layer and baste the quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt by machine or by hand. Apply the prepared binding to quilt.
