Yettel led the mobile market across key performance metrics

Yettel was the fastest mobile provider in Hungary during 1H 2025, across all technologies combined, as well as specifically for 4G-LTE and 5G. It recorded a median 5G download speed of 369.08 Mbps, and an upload speed of 37.18 Mbps.

Yettel and One offered the best gaming experiences

Yettel offered the best 5G gaming experience in Hungary during 1H 2025, while One recorded the best gaming experience among ISPs.

Telekom the fastest fixed ISP in Hungary

Telekom was the fastest ISP in Hungary during 1H 2025 with a median download speed of 274.72 Mbps, and a median upload speed of 90.12 Mbps.

Szombathely and Miskolc were the top performing cities in Hungary

Among the most populous cities in Hungary, Szombathely recorded the fastest median mobile download speed of 130.9 Mbps, while Miskolc outpaced the other cities to record the fastest median fixed download speed, with 250.88 Mbps.

    Yettel had the Best Mobile Network overall, and the Best 5G Network, among providers in Hungary during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data. It recorded a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 80.28, and a Speedtest 5G Connectivity Score of 79.87. Speedtest Connectivity Score combines key metrics to evaluate the overall user experience that mobile providers offer. It includes Speed Score, as well as indicators for web browsing performance, and Video Streaming Score.

    Fastest 4G & 5G Networks

    Yettel was the fastest mobile provider across both 4G and 5G networks in Hungary during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data.

    Yettel led on median (and mean) 5G download speed, recording 369.08 Mbps, ahead of next placed Magyar Telekom, which recorded 101.82 Mbps, and One with 66.84 Mbps. Yettel also led the market on median (and mean) 5G upload speed, with 37.18 Mbps, and a latency over 5G of 31 ms.

    Yettel outpaced its rivals on 4G-LTE performance, recording a 4G Speed Score of 70.97, ahead of both Magyar Telekom and One. It led on median (and mean) 4G download speed, recording 68.40 Mbps, and also on median (and mean) upload speed, with 15.02 Mbps.

    Most Consistent Network

    Yettel recorded the best mobile network Consistency in Hungary, for all technologies combined and for 5G. Across all technologies, 94.6% of its samples met or exceeded the threshold of 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload, while 96.2% of its 5G samples met or exceeded the higher threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.

    Magyar Telekom recorded the highest 5G Availability in Hungary during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data, with 50.8% of its users accessing its 5G network a majority of the time.

    City Performance

    Szombathely had the fastest median mobile download speed among Hungary’s most populous cities, recording 130.9 Mbps. Szeged was second, followed by Budapest in third. At the other end of the scale, Székesfehérvár had the slowest median mobile download speed at 70.04 Mbps, followed by Kecskemét and Győr. Yettel was the fastest provider across ten cities.

    Regional Performance

    Budapest had the fastest median mobile download speed among Hungary’s regions, recording 89.02 Mbps. Somogy County was second, followed by Vas County in third. At the other end of the scale, Nógrád County had the slowest median mobile download speed at 43.74 Mbps, followed by Heves County and Pest County.

Telekom led on median download speed, recording 274.72 Mbps, ahead of next placed One, which recorded 235.3 Mbps, and Yettel with 82.58 Mbps. Telekom also led the market on median upload speed, with 90.12 Mbps, and recorded a latency of 14 ms.

Telekom was the fastest provider across five cities, followed by One in two.

      Heves County had the fastest median fixed download speed among Hungary’s regions, recording 245.65 Mbps. Budapest was second, followed by Nógrád County in third. At the other end of the scale, Bács-Kiskun had the slowest median fixed download speed at 113.11 Mbps, followed by Somogy County and Vas County. Telekom was the fastest provider across 15 regions, followed by One in two.
