    Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn’t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, “When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency.” But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000.     Readers find this title funny and intriguing, with laugh out loud moments and a mix of comedy, mystery, and action. The interactions between the characters, especially Stephanie and Joe Morelli, are enjoyable. However, some readers had issues with the narrator's audible breaths and the abridged version missing parts of the story. Overall, this book is an easy and fun read.

      After the movie, One for the Money (I loved it), I wanted to read the books. I was half happy and half disappointed (to be fair the first few books were better than the rest - I've read 17 or 18). The writing isn't anything special but there is banter and wit (which is waning). I love her grandma, the ex-hooker, and some other random side characters - that and the witty moments kept me coming back for more.By the time of the 5th book (or at least by the 10th) you would think she would start to get the hang of her job or get a new one - nope. At a certain point she is just a pretty woman of 30ish who can't pick from 2 men (or choose to move on from both), who is bad at her job, and relies on luck and the men in her life to save her (to be fair I think of one time she was saved by a woman).So why do I keep reading? In spite of how annoying she is, and how she is hopelessly in love with 2 mildly mentally abusive men? Despite all the half attractive or good guys being over 6 ft tall for some reason and all the other men are taken or ugly? The reason is the supporting crazy characters, and the fading wit.

      Rereading this ultra fun series so I can read the newer ones in a linear fashion and know everything that went on. In this one, Stephanie and Morelli start to heat up while looking for a relative of Morelli's that may have stolen some military weapons. A wonderfully fun series.

      I didn't love this one like the 1st one...but it was a good read, drug out a bit though. I hope the 3rd one picks up a little bit like the first one did. I wanted to prove all those reviewers wrong that said it wasn't as interesting, but I can only agree. I am glad we got a more in depth look at Grandma though.

      I love the narrater, Lori Petty.
      The book is funny and intriguing. The idea of Stephanie Plum being a bounty hunter is funny but she certainly has all the luck. I love the interactions between the characters, especially Stephanie and Joe Morelli. There are laugh out loud moments as she and her Grandma Mazur , especially when they attend a series of funeral house viewings. Grandma Mazur has to be my absolute favorite character. This book is an easy read with laughter and suspense on the menu.

      Although I did like this book I wasn't wild about it. It's funny but if you've read the first book in the Stephanie Plum series, One for the Money, it's predictable.

      As before Stephanie gets a job to find a someone who skipped bail, Kenny Mancuso, and is suspected of murdering his best friend. It's a job which, to begin with, is too big for Stephanie's limited experience but she needs money. Together with the help of policman Joe Morelli and colleague Ranger she goes after Mancosu but becomes one of his targets himself. The second storyline deals with Stiva's funeral parlor when undertaker Spira Stivo asks Stephanie to find a shipment of caskets that has been stolen.

      Each character has it's own function. One of the most prominent is grandma Mazur, who tries to help Stephanie, but is actually more interested in the morbid details of the investigation. One of her roles is to be a comic relief but after a while she started to irritate me a bit with her antics.

      As I've said before this feels too much like a rehash of the first novel in the series. Stephanie has to find someone to get money, becomes a target of that person herself, she needs help of one or two men to solve the problem and not be killed.

      My first book by Janet Evanovich, I love all the characters (especially Grandma Mazur.I have to get One for Money and all of the Stephanie Plum series. I wish they would make a TV series.

      I am officially hooked on this series. About 3/4ths of the way through I made sure to go out and get books 3-6. This book was as good as the first, if not better. I loved that Grandma Mazur went along with Stephanie on some of her bounty hunter duties and I loved how Joe and Stephanie's friendship grew. I look forward to reading more of this series.

      I am loving this series, especially on audio. The narrator, C J Critt, does an outstanding job of capturing every nuance of Stephanie Plum's wry humor and personality. I was glad to see Grandma Mazur get a more prominent role in this 2nd installment. She offers plenty of LOL opportunities. Looking forward to the next book.

      "Dumb chick feeds information to slimy guy. Come on, slimy guy, I thought. Get careless. Give me some information in return."Moving on from instalment one, Stephanie continues to attempt to catch bail dodgers for her cousin Vinnie. He gives her what he thinks is an easy case in Kenny Mancuso, a first time offender. Kenny proves alarmingly slippery. Meanwhile, Grandma Mazur keeps getting into trouble and not all is as it should be at Spiro's funeral home.I think Stephanie and I will be parting ways. She's fun, she's fiery, but she keeps finding body parts in her fridge. The writing is just a little more graphic than I prefer it (VI Warshawski and Kinsey Millhone are my female PIs of choice). Stephanie herself remains so-so for me - I don't feel a connection to her as a character, there doesn't seem to be very much investment in her personal character development as all the focus is on her professional development.All the support characters remain highly entertaining. I love Grandma Mazur. In this one she conspires to open a casket in a closed-casket viewing, has some choice comments on the unfortunate things that show up in Stephanie's post, and gets herself into Quite Serious Trouble.Good unchallenging thriller/investigator reading. But I won't be carrying on with the series.

      And the story continues... I'm absolutely having a great time reading about the developing relationship between Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli. (Enough that I read the last page of the book before I started, which is not something I have done since I was a child. By the way, it didn't ruin the story.) The secondary characters in this novel are well-rounded within the context of this story, but getting to know them over the past two books has been fun. I get a kick out of Grandma Mazur. Let me just say that the whole "Bobbsey Twin" thing really added something to the story. I even "enjoyed" reading about the creepy Spiro and crazy Kenny, but only because all the humor kept me laughing despite the morbid/dark moments. This is a great book for readers who enjoy laughing, a mystery, and a bit of romance. I must get the third book!

It is as fun (so far) as people said. Stephanie Plum is one hot mess :)Audio Review: C.J. Critt actually did a wonderful job with the narration. My problem was with the long pauses between chapters. I am guessing that it is because the book may have been recorded for cassette tape rendering.Quick Review: Since most people have read the Stephanie Plum series there isn't much I can add about what a joy the stories are. In the 2nd book there still isn't a whole lot of the choose Team Morelli or Team Ranger stuff. Right now I am Team Grandma Mazur---that woman is a hoot. Since most of this book took place in and around a funeral home (one of her favorite pasttimes is to attend funerals), she was in the story a lot. Stephanie, Ranger, and Morelli were also fantastic though Ranger's role was a bit limited. Overall, if you are looking for a fun mystery series with great characters then I would highly recommend reading these books.

      Evanovich's style is very conversational and forward and it works so well creating the character Stephanie Plum. I definitely think this series gets better the further one reads into it. I love the sexual tension, the little quips, and the way the family and various characters are so easy to picture. The plot goes by smoothly and quickly with several hilarious points in between. Definitely a great beach read.

      2nd book in the Stephanie Plum mystery series. In this one she's doing her normal job of a bounty hunter and also takes on a side job looking for some missing caskets. Fun easy read like most of the Evanovich books I've read. This one starts to flesh out some of the side characters more. Lula makes a brief appearance. And Grandma Mazur is just about a driving force through this one with her going to funeral visitations for socializing.

      It was an enjoyable reading. Sometimes I had to laugh out loud on the one hand Stephanie would like to be a hero and is stomping straight into a mess on the other hand she is acting like a coward and has to take her grandma with her as a kind of protection. Unfortunately she abandons her granny into dangerous situations, whereas the old lady seems to enjoy those situations and can be really tough. Nevertheless without the help of her 'might to be lover' she wouldn't be able to solve the case and couldn't get out of some delicate situations.

      This author needs to include a box of Depends with the sale of each book. You pee yourself laughing at the antics of Stephanie Plum and her cohorts!

      Picking up Kenny Mancuso should have been an easy job for Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, however, Mancuso was a bigger pain in the ass than she expected. I'd say this book was another hit with me. I loved that there was more Grandma Mazur, she's such a riot, especially when Stephanie opens a suspicious package at the dinner table.

      Another great addition to the Stephanie Plum series, with a growing relationship between Stephanie and Joe, missing body parts from the funeral home. Vehicle accidents and of course Grandma Mazur in the mix makes this another exciting and interesting 2nd book to the series.

      I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Newly-minted bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum returns in Evanovich's second book to track down more FTAs (Failure to Appear). In addition to the many humorous situations surrounding Plum, she is also joined by some familiar faces from the first book. I love these!

      Enjoyable characters, enjoyable storyline. I especially like Grandma Mazur ... I can see Sophia from Golden Girls in that part. I really enjoy the fact that Stephanie Plum is a great anti-hero. She just stumbles through it all like real people do.

      BOTTOM-LINE:Another great one in the series.PLOT OR PREMISE:This is the second book in the Stephanie Plum series, new bounty hunter. This time around first love's distant cousin, Kenny Mancuso, is supposed to be a relatively easy pickup. Sure, he shot a guy, his best friend, but he's not all that bright. Except that he's fresh out of the army and suddenly wealthy..WHAT I LIKED:I liked the expansion of the role by Plum's grandmother, even though I thought she was over the top in the first one. Here, it's funny, as she is out of control. She goes to a funeral with a closed coffin for a guy who was shot, and she opens the coffin to see what he looks like. Another dead guy has a strange looking ring so she touches the hand and the finger comes off. Don't even ask about her shooting a gun. The love story with Morelli moves along a bit until he screws up (as all men do) and the brakes come on hard. Add in the sub-plot of 24 missing coffins, and the read is a riot. An improvement over the first book, and further expansion of some nice supporting characters..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:There are a few too many guys running around with no real explanation, and the major baddie Kenny does a pretty good job of going wherever he wants to despite a large number of people looking for him (remembering that he wasn't too bright to begin with)..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review.
