About this audiobook
She was the mysterious woman in the long black cloak. He was the sexy guy next door. They shared a common wall between their Capitol Hill townhouses and not much else—until disaster scored a direct hit on the mystery woman’s bedroom and the sexy guy’s heart. He baked her a cake, she learned to throw a football, there were some misunderstandings in the living room, some mishaps in the yard, and some romantic moments everywhere...
Janet Evanovich
Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn’t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, “When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency.” But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000. She immediately quit her job and started working full-time as a writer. After a dozen romance novels, she switched to mystery, and created Stephanie Plum. The rest is history. Janet’s favorite exercise is shopping, and her drug of choice is Cheeze Doodles.

What our readers think
Readers find this title entertaining but not great. The storyline is just okay and actually got boring. However, the book has some funny moments that made the reader laugh out loud. The narration by C.J. Critt is excellent and enjoyable. Overall, it is an early work and not as good as the author's Stephanie Plum series.

Janet Evanovich wrote nine short romances pre-Plum. She explains this at the front of all the re-released books that have been coming out at regular intervals. I think she realizes they aren't brilliant but that they are a fun quick read.Back to the Bedroom is about a very busy woman, Kate, who has no time for anything beyond work and chores. Her neighbor, Dave is the exact opposite. He's got nothing but time and he's all about having fun. Obviously they are attracted to each other. When her house sustains damage in a freak incident, Kate and Dave get closer as he tries to help her out by hiring construction workers, and allowing her to stay with him.Through a series of events, which are at best disjointed, the couple grow close, fall apart, grow close, fall apart, and eventually get their happy ending. It's not a great book. The plot is weak and the characters are cliche. That being said, if you are a fan of Evanovich, it's worth reading if you have the extra time. It was cute. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Fun book to listen to while walking for fitness. Doesn't take much concentration and has amusing situations. Workaloholic cello player meets her next door neighbor after a part of a helicopter falls through her roof. She thinks the complete opposites and totally incompatible and he thinks she's pretty cute. The rest of the book is spent winning her over. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

You can definitely tell this is early work. The storyline is just okay and actually got boring. I had to keep replaying sections because I kept zoning out. I am a HUGE fan of her Stephanie Plum series tho! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

Silly story like you would expect from Janet Evanovich but a little to simple a romance. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

Part of a helicopter fell through her roof, making her week complete. Hearing the crash, David Dodd made his way to his neighbors house only to find that Katherine Finn knew less about it than he did. Busy person was an understatement, Kate was constantly running from lessons, to rehearsal to performances, so Dave took control of covering and repairing the roof, but he also took her to his house when things seemed to get dangerous. Men in the yard, men on the roof, even Kate’s new roommates (Elsie Hawkins) fondness for large gun didn’t make any of them feel safer. As another of Janet Evanovich’s re-releases (pre-Stephanie Plum) (originally published in 1989), this one is typical of the contemporary romance with the comedy, timing and the far fetched situation that surrounds Dave and Kate. Although I will never forget the helicopter part (camera mount) falling in the house, the rest is of a basic romance quality - fun while it lasts but not much more. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

OK, this is just undeniably cute and clever
I have been an Evanovich fan for a long time. Her stories are strong, well written, and have women characters that are realistic. They have trouble with money, men, jobs, all those things that the rest of us have problems with. Her books are side splittingly funny, and contain the occassional explosion. Hey, who can't love a woman who blows things up?
This is a very early work, and shows how Janet got her start. I won't go over the story line, as it is quite a short book, and I am sure other people have done it. My take on it is how nice it is to see that Ms. Evanovich has always had a sense of humour with her writing. This little story is rediculous in it's own way when it comes to the story line, but you can't help but be pulled in and then to roll over with true belly laughs while you are being led along. Take a Type A workaholic female musician, a Type "Who cares?" toy collector, drop in an elderly woman with a huge "hankie" (and the will to use it!), an hysterical dinner party, a kidnapping, an explosion, and several cats . . . well, you will understand when you read it. And don't fail to read it - it will lighten your whole day! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

This was a quick, fun read. There’s no deeper meaning, no seriousness, just a couple of seemingly incompatible people with great physical chemistry who are thrown into an unbelievable situation. This is very typical Evanovich, full of wild, over-the-top scenarios. After all, there’s nothing quite like meeting your girlfriend’s parents for the first time while there’s a drug bust going on across the street. This is a perfect book for a hot afternoon at the beach. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

I love this book! I laughed out loud at one line (when Kate was describing how she took out the string section), and probably more, but I was listening at 2.5 speed, so too fast for laughter. I was also reading along in my paperback, which is why I caught and laughed at Kate's description of taking out the string section.
C.J. Critt did an excellent job performing this story. I thoroughly enjoyed her narration.
