Winery design can be very varied - the consequence of different influences acting at different times of construction. Unlike the designs of other food industries, those of wineries are commonly influenced by aesthetics - sometimes to potentiate wine tourism, and sometimes to safeguard the agricultural landscape of which they are part. However, the functionality of the production space cannot be ignored; the efficient distribution of space in a winery contributes towards both economic and environmental sustainability - two requisites of an ever more demanding and competitive market. The present work gathers qualitative and quantitative information on the design of industrial wineries in Spain’s Rioja winemaking region. Different classes of winery are identified and, using the systematic layout planning method, several type layouts proposed. Wine-growing landscapes establish a link between nature and culture, they have increasingly been the object of heritagisation in Europe in answer to a societal demand and a need for recognition on the part of the profession. At the same time the wine-growing business has been impacted by globalisation and illustrates the complexity of the relation between the local and global dimensions. Wine tourism, also globalised, is increasingly used as a communication and marketing tool at company as well as national levels. The wine-growing landscape has therefore become a tool and at the same time an outcome of this phenomenon.

Midyat district of Mardin province was called Matiate in the ancient period. The city of Matiate is located in the Tur Abdin region and the name of the city is found in texts dating to the Assyrian king Ashurnasirpal II and Shalmaneser III periods. Matiate Underground City is in Estel and it is part of Midyat. A-1 and A-4 are located in the 1st area of the underground city. In this area, excavated and cleaning works were carried out in 2020/21. This study aims to obtain results for the function of both areas. Grape workshop and silos used for storage are located in A-1 area. There are also seven architectural building elements used for storage purposes in the A-4 area. In the study, it is revealed that both areas based on production and their functions as winery have been examined.

The sherry origin denomination area (El Puerto de Santa María, Sanlúcar
de Barrameda and Jerez de la Frontera as capital) would become an extraordinary
economic emporium thanks to the wine business in the middle
of the nineteen century. At the end of the century the cities of the sherry
wine had been transformed based on the wineries constructions. This specific
industrial typology would redefine the urban center and it would build
the first historic outskirts.
Throughout these decades the image of wine architecture evolve independently
of constructive or functional factors, even typological, which
would be maintained with great stability. The interaction between the urban
center and the industrial building will be the determining factor in the
aesthetic evolution of the wineries. In those decades we also find some
symbolic matter with the will to generate company image throughout the
construction of the wineries. Stylistic issues will have little impact on the
architecture of the wineries, which is why they are incorporated in a fragmented
way. This incorporation is difficult to place in the eclectic global
context of the winery society.
This evolution, which has the functional and unornamented architecture of
the first large wineries as its starting point, will focus its efforts on the progressive
increase of the attention given to the aesthetics of the winery,
mainly in the urban facades of these constructions. This facade will be the
generator element of the scenography of the winery-city. Urban and corporate
image will be merged in the winery facade, becoming this elements
of business representation in prints, labels and advertising maps. The
commercial projection of some companies will be associated to the diffusion
of the urban image of the industry.

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo indagar sobre las características económicas del sistema productivo vitivinícola de Mendoza (Argentina) en un contexto de globalización, con el fin de develar los desfases entre la tecnosfera y la ecosfera local. En un contexto de crisis socioambiental mundial, resulta imperativo el análisis integral de los sistemas productivos en todas las escalas, con miras a pensar un rediseño de la tecnosfera que encaje en los límites biofísicos actuales. Para ello, se utilizan las herramientas teóricas provenientes de las corrientes del pensamiento ambiental crítico como son la economía ecológica y la historia ambiental.
La metodología seleccionada se basa en la triangulación de datos cualitativos mediante el uso de fuentes documentales y bibliografía especializada, con datos cuantitativos de fuentes estadísticas oficiales. Los resultados evidencian una evolución divergente en los últimos 30 años entre esta actividad y el desarrollo regional, en términos de persecución del bien social. Se destaca la acumulación de la renta en el sector comercialización y la posesión de la tierra por parte de capitales cada vez mayores. De manera paralela, se observa la intensificación del impacto ambiental y una depresión de los aspectos económicos y sociales.

The present research deals with floatovoltaics or floating solar in sustainable viticulture and oenology, environmental solutions in support of water-energy-food-land use nexus goals. Sustainable viticulture and sustainable oenology aim to minimize environmental impact of the overall winery processes by way of ensuring sustainability and economic viability through the environmentally sound production practices. In this context, the water, energy, land, food nexus concept is a valuable environmental tool to monitor sustainable viticulture/oenology goals. In this article, we use water, energy, food, land use nexus parameters to evaluate the environmental impact of integrated over-water vineyard irrigation solar energy solutions in agricultural viticulture and winery production systems. In these solutions, vineyard irrigation ponds house floating solar renewable energy supply systems, while precious agricultural land is conserved for growing grapes. It is shown that it takes around 10 litres of water is used to produce one litre of wine, of which 2.4 litres of water is used in the winery, while around 0.71 GJ of electricity is required to make one kilo-litre of wine. In this context, the article show how floating solar renewable energy systems on vineyard irrigation ponds provide positive environmental impact and water preservation benefits, such as irrigation pond water/wastewater evaporation and algal growth control, while being able to supplement the energy needs for vineyard irrigation (10-20%), winery refrigeration (40-60%); drives in pumps/fans (10-35%), bottling/packaging (8-30%), lighting (8-20%), compressed air (3-10%), as well as other energy requirements (3-15%). The article also discusses the latest South Africa carbon tax formulas and associated incentives that may provide the viticulture and oenology industries with the necessary incentives needed to push local agricultural economies onto a low-carbon growth trajectory. It is shown that concentrated solar and photovoltaic floating solar solutions in over-water vineyard irrigation systems may benefit from some of the latest changes expected in the final carbon tax, such as the inclusion of a formula to adjust the basic percentage tax-free threshold to reward over-performance (energy sold back into the national/Eskom-grid). Specific mention will be made on the implementation of the South African Carbon Tax for the Agricultural Sector.

Historical analysis of Bodegas de Santo Tomás, the oldest winery in Baja California. I focus specially on the predominant role of this company for open and introduce wine grapes crops into the Valle de Guadalupe lands. These facts in the middle of 1920s was the milestone to beginning the agricultural extensive methods activities to source the incipient Winery Industry settled in Baja California.

Wine tourism development requires the willingness of the winery owners to undertake tourism activities when running their business, thus meaning that a shift from a ‘pure product’ orientation to a tourism and hospitality mindset needs to occur. The analysis of the perceptions and attitudes toward wine tourism has gained huge attention in the last few years. However, in Italy very little research has been devoted to this topic adopting a supply-side perspective at a national level. This study was therefore carried out on a sample of 308 Italian wineries to deepen the knowledge about their involvement in wine tourism. Findings reveal that for the most part wineries are SMEs, or even micro, already somewhat involved in wine tourism. However, wineries lever on tourism as a further channel to both distribute and promote their wine production, while the desire to intentionally become a pole of tourism attraction is not so relevant. The marketing and promotional tools they use are mostly traditional, with a relatively low use of social media marketing activities; further, wine producers were reported to keep little data on visitors’ socio-demographic profiles and satisfaction.

During the last time, the attention to a phenomenon of family business steadily grows. Today, this form of business is considered to be a vital and needful for economic development. Despite this, the basic theory of family business is heterogeneous, limited and insufficient. There is a double subject of this study: firstly, to find out the main indicators and information resources about successful companies can be detected and, secondly, to analyse one representative family company managed by several generations as a case study for identifying its key success factors. This qualitative research was prepared on the basis of general theoretical scientific methods, in particular, analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparison, generalisations and methods of expert estimates. In the first phase, the secondary research of scientific literature and electronic resources about the paper topic was conducted. On the base of that results, the primary research was conducted, which is based on analysis of family wine company Quinta de Santa Eufemia in Portugal. The sources of that research are internet web-pages of the company, articles about the company in magazines and scientific journals form Emerald database, reports of the company and financial data from Amadeus database, in-depth interview with a family member of a family company representative. The scientific acquisition of this research is improving understanding of a family company's success from the perspective of difficulties faced by a family company and the way of overcoming obstacles. In addition, the activity of Quinta de Santa Eufemia was analysed as the case study for critical evidence of that phenomenon.

L’architettura sceglie un profilo mimetico, scavato, terraneo; i materiali sono naturali, duri, prevalgono il legno massiccio e il ferro crudo spazzolato. Una vela di copertura colorata di verderame emerge dal terrazzo, capta l’immagine del monumentale pinus pinea e la riverbera dentro gli spazi di accoglienza e degustazione.

Wine tourism is a set of products that includes a series of visitation services that includes visits to wineries (wine tasting, wine purchased and consumption), vineyards (walking, cycling or active part in harvesting), and wine museums (wine tours and learning). Wine, with its additional products and services, is a motivational factor for wine tourism. Though small in the size, compared to the global context of wine tourism, Thai wine tourism is regarded as one of the most prosperous in the Southeast Asian region. Nevertheless, it has been found that there has been limited information available about Thai winery's development with regards to winery tourism products. The purpose of this study is to understand the potential and issues relating to wine tourism in Thailand, and to identify future developments for improving the winery tourism products for tourists. This research demonstrates the findings of qualitative research interviews with the key informants from the Thai wineries participating in wine tourism in Thailand. The qualitative data were obtained from owners and managers from Thai wineries through face-to-face semi-structured in-depth interviews and were analyzed using a descriptive thematic approach.
