Se tienen en cuenta para el análisis factores relacionados con la apuesta estética e intención comunicativa de los directores, así como el incremento sin precedentes de filmes nacionales debido a la creación de FOCINE, entidad pública históricamente cuestionada por el funcionamiento burocrático que caracterizó sus procesos de financiación.

There is an urgent need to address interlinked sustainability issues in a world challenged by inequality, finite resources and unprecedented changes across Earth’s systems. As Future Earth Fellows, based on our collective expertise in a diverse range of sustainability issues, here we identify a specific need to recognise and respond appropriately to the nexus between human health and wellbeing, urbanisation, and ecosystem services (the ‘WUE nexus’). This nexus is a priority area for research, policy and practice. In particular, it provides a useful pathway to meet the challenges of successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Massive material and energy are consumed in the integrated iron and steel industry, which results in substantial emissions. Many technologies and policies have been employed in the industry to achieve sustainable steelmaking. The potential of these technologies and policies is generally assessed at the facility/process level. The sitewide potential is usually overestimated or underestimated due to double-counting and missing items. To tackle this problem, a matrix model of the sitewide material-energy-emission nexus is developed in terms of the interconnection and interdependency of multiple flows. Based on the nexus model, the effects of operational actions on material, energy and emission intensities are investigated. In addition, the contribution of various operational parameters to the change in each flow is determined. Coke purchase, cast iron export, scrap steel utilization and metallic yield improvement are examined as a case study. The results showed that energy deficits or over-standard emissions may occur in certain cases influenced by the material-energy-emission nexus, and it is suggested to consider the whole-site energy balance and emission structure when making decisions. Finally, policy implications for reducing material consumption, energy consumption and emissions are provided.

in the chapter Li of La Vie mode d’emploi (Life a User’s manual) by Georges Perec, the intention of the painter Valène to create a painting representing all the persons having lived in his building corresponds to a unique syntactic and textual structure. each of the 179 verses is like a piece of puzzle depicting a character engaged in an activity. From the syntactic point of view, we argue that most of these verses , if not all, represent a secondary predication, defined by Havu et Pierrard (2008 : 8) as having two basic properties : « an attributive kind of predicative relation between a topic and a predicate (feature a) without a finite verbal marker of predication (feature b) ». in 162 of them, the secondary predicate is a French present participle. as a continuous non-temporal verbal form with functions of a noun modifier, the French present participle depicts the activity of a character as a property, without the possibility to assign limits to the process or to locate it on the time axis.

Notre analyse porte sur le chapitre Li de La Vie mode d'emploi de Georges Pe-rec : après une mise en abyme en prose qui décrit l'intention de Valène de « se peindre en train de se peindre », suit un long « poème » de 179 vers, chacun présentant un personnage en train d'accomplir une action. Ces 179 vers correspondent à plusieurs types structurels de prédications secondes, définies surtout par deux propriétés spécifiques (Havu et Pierrard, 2008 : 8) : « l'instauration d'un lien prédicatif de type attributif entre un thème et un prédicat (trait a) mais sans marque verbale de prédication (trait b) ». Pour ce qui est des participes présents, nous arguons que l'ambivalence syntaxique et l'absence d'ancrage temporel qui les caractérisent produisent un effet stylistique « scénique » dans le texte : ces scènes, avec leurs protagonistes, sont situées en dehors de tout temps spécifique, comme éternisés les uns et les autres bien qu'éphémères.

Tout comme l’adjectif en position identique, le participe présent directement postposé à un SN est analysé traditionnellement comme épithète dans la grammaire française. Vu d’importants changements de fonction que connaît le participe présent (et l’adjectif) dans cette position, selon que changent la fonction et la position du SN dans la prédication première, nous réexaminons la notion d’épithète et présentons quelques arguments en faveur d’un traitement linguistique unifié de tous les segments SN+PPR, et ce en termes de prédication seconde.

Concepts such as complex adaptative systems, networking and chaos have been around over much of the twentieth century in many fields and disciplines. Yet, complexity thinking is mostly overlooked in the education of future military leaders. Consistent with the traditional Newtonian reductionist approach, the world is still presented in a linear and causal fashion with ready-made problem-solving methodologies. In this paper, we challenge this linearity and argue that to address complex challenges in a complex world, we should shift to complexity thinking as the principal cognitive imprint. With the multidimensional reorganization of global society, the metaphorical boundaries circumscribing military interventions, the battle-space, become porous and difficult, if not impossible to isolate. Today’s battle-space expands into a complex environment encompassing all societal domains to create the war nexus. Yet we still think of the battle-space as a closed system. To understand this evolving paradigm, leaders at all levels need to process reality in terms of complexity while retaining their operational focus. In time, this shift will provide the institutional capacity to understand, analyze, plan, and act in the current multidimensional war nexus.

The Wounded Hero in Contemporary Fiction tracks the emergence of a new type of physically and/or spiritually wounded hero(ine) in contemporary fiction. Editors, Susana Onega and Jean- Michel Ganteu bring together some of the top minds in the field to explore the paradoxical lives of these heroes that have embraced, rather than overcome, their suffering, alienation and marginalisation as a form of self-definition.

Accounts of hydro-hegemony and counter hydro-hegemony provide state-based conceptions of power in international river basins. However, authority should be seen as transnationalized as small states develop coping strategies to augment their authority over decision-making processes. The article engages Rosenau’s spheres of authority concept to argue that hydro-hegemony is exercised by actors embedded in spheres of authority that reshape actor configurations as they emerge. These spheres consist of complex networks challenging customary notions of the local-global dichotomy and hydro-hegemony. Hydro-hegemony is therefore not fixed. The article examines these processes by analysing the dispute over the Xayaburi Dam in the Mekong Basin.

Following the likes of Johnny Manziel’s “Show me the money” publically-displayed hand signals during the 2013 – 2014 college football season, and the recent NLRB decision ruling that Northwestern University football players qualify as employees of the institution and can unionize, the debate over whether student-athletes should be paid for their services is one of the biggest issues surrounding college sports right now.  The purpose of this article is to analyze the potential state income tax implications of paying student-athletes, and to address the impact that such taxes could have on college athletics as a whole. To meet this objective, this article explores the history of the pay-for-play model and its relationship to the NCAA, analyzes the potential impact which state income taxes may have on college athletics should student-athletes be paid, and draws the conclusion that from a state income tax perspective, paying student-athletes will have a significant effect on the evolution of college sports.

In recent years, numerous studies have discussed, examined and explored the links between research and teaching in Higher Education. These studies have given rise to anumber of concepts, such as the research-teaching nexus and research-informed teaching, but the relationships that these concepts have to one another, and to the wider research-teaching debate, is not well-understood by a significant number of academics. Here, eachof these concepts, and their relationship to one another, is briefly examined. This leads to a redefinition of research-informed teaching that acknowledges input from academic programme research, as well as pedagogic research and the scholarship of learning andteaching. This broader definition also gives rise to the notion of a research content continuum along which teaching may be placed according to its research content. Finally,an overarching context is proposed that provides a framework within which these variousconcepts may be viewed and understood, and which is referred to here as the research-teaching complex. It is hoped that this framework will aid development in this area and stimulate further discussion and debate.

- The establishment of universities was conceived to be a
unified single institution that will have one arm of authority taking
care and control of the entire programs of each university. This
arrangement has been applied in other administrative directorates
except that of the student affairs. Whereas vice-chancellors as
heads of universities supported by deans of faculties, directors and
heads of departments control student affairs of both the
undergraduate and postgraduate students, the dean of the students’
affairs is restricted to the welfare of undergraduates, while the
dean postgraduate (PG) school handles postgraduate students.
This compartmentalization has created a socialization problem
such that there is separation between students-students, staff-staff
and students-students versus students-staff mix thereby denying
all the benefits derivable from such union. Data for the study were
obtained using primary and secondary sources, while the
descriptive and inferential techniques were adopted for analysis.
The study revealed the division between PG school and the
students’ affairs directorate and recommended administrative
harmony between both schools for a formidable academic
relationship and administration. It concludes that universities
should consider bridging this administrative lacuna to ensure
equitable learning process between the young and the old; both
staff and students.

This third and final issue of Volume 5 of the International Journal of China Studies (2014) represents an excellent collection of research articles covering some of the most pertinent aspects of the state and changes in the internal political economy and foreign relations of today’s China. This December 2014 issue of the International Journal of China Studies, the third and final issue of the fifth volume since the launching of the journal in 2010, thus significantly completes a trilogy beginning with the April issue (Vol. 5, No. 1) that focused on Taiwan’s democracy and cross-Strait relations, followed by Vol. 5, No. 2, covering the quarter-century legacy of the Tiananmen demonstrations of 1989 which culminated in the June Fourth tragedy – a June/August issue as the usual August publication date was brought forward to June to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of a momentous, tragic event of June 1989 that tremendously shaped and altered China’s trajectory of development whether in terms of her internal political economy or her foreign relations and diplomacy in the subsequent decades. The impacts, overt or subtle, are undoubtedly still strongly felt today. We analyse the threats of global environmental change, as they relate to food security. First, we review three discourses: (i) 'sustainable intensification', or the increase of food supplies without compromising food producing inputs, such as soils and water; (ii) the 'nexus' that seeks to understand links across food, energy, environment and water systems; and (iii) 'resilience thinking' that focuses on how to ensure the critical capacities of food, energy and water systems are maintained in the presence of uncertainties and threats. Second, we build on these discourses to present the causal, risks and options assessment for decision-making process to improve decision-making in the presence of risks. The process provides a structured, but flexible, approach that moves from problem diagnosis to better risk-based decision-making and outcomes by responding to causal risks within and across food, energy, environment and water systems.
