Lithurgy

V Katedrální knihovně v Ostřihomi se nachází antifonář (signatura: Ms. I. 313), v jehož dodatku se zachoval téměř celý latinský text jediného oficia napsaného na počest Jana Husa. I proto považujeme za důležitou součást příspěvku představit tento kodex. Písař opisující tento antifonář považoval za důležité doplnit tuto knihu pražského ritu o dvě modlitby církve: Jan Hus a Proměnění Páně. Nečinil mezi nimi rozdíl v důležitosti, oběma přisoudil stejný důraz. V případě transfigurace si lze povšimnout
téhož, co platí pro Husovo oficium: i v tomto případě jsou z oficia obsaženého v našem kodexu v různých jiných antifonářích rozesety pouze jednotlivé části. Na základě kodikologické expertizy lze říci i to, že antifonář přechovávaný v Ostřihomi dobře odráží rovněž další tvrzení odborné literatury, a totiž že ani do počátku 16. století, tedy sto
let po Husově smrti, se nevytvořila zvláštní, od pražské dobře odlišitelná husitská liturgická praxe, ačkoliv také v případě našeho kodexu jsou patrné snahy o její změnu. Ty jsou dobře uchopitelné a vystopovatelné na vzhledu různých variant textů těchto oficií, na snaze o tropaci a v neposlední řadě na zesílení úcty k českým svatým, jež se projevilo v rozšíření repertoáru oficií o další texty. Antifonář přechovávaný v Ostřihomi sice nese výrazné husitské znaky a velmi úzce souvisí s husitskou liturgickou praxí, avšak za úplný jej můžeme považovat teprve
společně s dalšími texty, jež byly sepsány během následujících dlouhých desetiletí. Po vyjasnění dalších drobných detailů bude mít v budoucnu přinejmenším stejnou důležitost také výzkum toho, v jakém prostředí mohly být používány a jak žily vedle sebe a snášely se utrakvistická a oficiální katolická liturgická praxe.

Az Esztergomi Főszékesegyházi Könyvtár kódexállományának feldolgozása során első ízben került sor annak az antifonálénak a teljes körű kodikológiai vizsgálatára, amely a Husz János tiszteletére íródott latin nyelvű zsolozsma eddig ismert legteljesebb szövegét őrzi (jelzete: Ms. I. 313).
Husz János zsolozsmájáról korábban számos kiváló tanulmány született, és a szövegét is többször közölték (Radó Polikárp, František Fišer, David R. Holeton, Hana Vlhová-Wörner), ám a kódex egészére vonatkozó formai és tartalmi elemzés mindezidáig nem történt meg, a korábbi szakirodalomban csak részleges utalások történtek rá. E tanulmány a teljes kódex vizsgálata alapján ad közre újabb eredményeket, és ezzel együtt a huszita liturgikus gyakorlathoz is szolgáltat új adalékokat.
Ezek közül kiemelendő, hogy a kódex másolója a prágai rítusú, de huszita jegyeket is hordozó szerkönyvet nem csak Husz János zsolozsmájával, de az eddig érdeklődésre számot nem tartó Urunk színeváltozásának (Transfiguratio Domini) zsolozsmájával is kiegészítette.
A mai ismeretek szerint a Transfigurationak ezen énektételei más szerkönyvekben nem szerepelnek (amint Husz zsolozsmájáé sem), kivéve az egyik responzóriumot, amely egy utrakvista használatra készült vesperáléban maradt fenn (Praha, Národni Knihovny IV H 12). A tanulmány ebből kiindulva több érvvel támasztja alá, hogy Husz János zsolozsmája mellett Urunk színeváltozása is az utrakvista liturgikus gyakorlat fontos eleme lehetett, ezért közli zsolozsma szövegét is. Érdemes lenne filológiai és zenei szempontból is alaposabban megvizsgálni, vajon egyszerre készült-e Husz zsolozsmájával.
A kodikológiai vizsgálat ezen kívül sorra veszi a kódex későbbi latin és cseh nyelvű bejegyzéseit, amelyek jól reprezentálják a liturgikus gyakorlat folyamatos változásait. Elemzi a kódex írását, díszítését, kötését, vízjelét, és párhuzamba állítja más kódexekkel . Mind ezzel lényegesen tovább árnyalja és megerősíti a szakirodalomnak azt az álláspontját, hogy még száz évvel Husz halála után, a 16. század elejére sem alakult ki egy, a prágaitól jól elkülöníthető huszita liturgikus gyakorlat.

Il saggio indaga le radici culturali e l’uso agiografico della figura del drago soffermandosi in particolare sul tema della sauromachia nella tradizione agiografica italiana. Particolare attenzione è dedicata al trasferimento di questo simbolo dalla semantica del potere imperiale – Costantiniano in particolare -  a quella pontificale, attraverso l’attribuzione a papa Silvestro di una sauromachia. L’autore richiama poi la casistica italiana dei santi uccisori di draghi e il progressivo assorbimento di quel topos negli usi folklorici e nella tradizione liturgica.


The essay investigates the cultural roots and the hagiographic use of the dragon, focusing in particular on the theme of the killing of dragons in the Italian hagiographic tradition. Particular attention is paid to the transfer of this symbol from the semantics of imperial power - Constantinian in particular - to the pontifical one, through the attribution of a ‘sauromachy’ to Pope Sylvester. The article then focuses on the Italian saints slayers of dragons and the progressive overlap of that topos from folkloric uses to liturgical tradition.

A b s t r a c t. This article concerns the execution of the ornaments—a very important question in the stylistic interpretation of the French harpsichord baroque music. The starting-point for reflection is treatise of the Monsieur de Saint-Lambert, a very enigmatic person, the author of Les prin-cipes du clavecin, centenant une explication exacte de tout ce qui concerne la tabulature et le cla-vier avec des remarques necessaires pour l'inteligence de plusieurs difficultées de la musique (The fundamentals of harpsichord playing, with explanations on musical notation and performance , together with explanatory remarks about different music issues), issued in 1702. He was highly valued as a harpsichord teacher and his treatises concerned the different aspects of playing keyboard instruments are the only preserved evidence of his musical and educational activities. It must be noticed that Saint-Lambert was the author of one of the oldest French treatises dedicated solely to the issues of harpsichord playing and his teaching method of mastering the instrument was at that time quite pioneering. The most important part of his treatise is the last nine chapters, focused on practical issues, where we can find the author's advice on different aspects of existing keyboard music. The main problem in performing harpsichord music at Saint-Lambert's time was the proper interpretation of music notation, which due to technical constraints (not yet perfect printing and editing of music works), was not able to reflect the whole variety of nuances of contemporary music style. So, the treatise Les principes du clavecin is a very helpful key to the understanding of the 18 th century music.

En la España del Renacimiento el contrapunto improvisado constituía uno de los pilares de la formación de todo músico profesional, además de ser un recurso normalmente empleado en la liturgia. Los tratados de contrapunto de los siglos XV y XVI nos proporcionan una idea bastante clara sobre las tipologías de poli-fonías no escritas que se practicaban en la época. Sin embargo, resulta a veces difícil establecer las características del contrapunto improvisado que efectiva-mente se practicaba en la vida diaria de las capillas musicales o cuáles eran los momentos de la liturgia en los que se improvisaba polifonía. De hecho, en la mayoría de los tratados no se proporciona información que permita establecer en qué medida las diferentes tipologías de polifonías no escritas eran empleadas no solo en base al contexto litúrgico o la tipología del canto llano, sino también dependiendo de las capacidades de los cantores de cada capilla musical o en base a las tradiciones locales de cada institución. Para contestar a estas preguntas es necesario dirigirse a otra tipología de fuentes como son los libros de ceremonial, donde encontramos información complementaria con respecto a la que nos pro-porcionan los tratados teóricos.
En esta contribución se analizarán varias tipologías de libros de ceremonial como consuetas, actas capitulares, capítulos, ordenanzas y directorios de coro, con los siguientes objetivos: 1) examinar qué clase de información sobre prácti-cas de polifonías improvisadas nos puede ofrecer cada tipología de texto norma-tivo; 2) establecer las clases de polifonías no escritas que se practicaban en las capillas musicales según el momento litúrgico; 3) averiguar en qué medida la praxis de improvisar polifonía tenía características homogéneas en la España del Renacimiento o si es posible trazar variantes significativas según la época o las tradiciones locales de las diferentes instituciones.

Fortsetzung der Grabungsberichte zu den Ergebnissen der Lehr- und Forschungsgrabung auf der Wachtenburg bei Wachenheim an der Haardt/der Weinstraße in Rheinland Pfalz im Rahmen des Kooperationsvertrages zwischen dem Förderkreis für den Erhalt der Burgruine Wachtenburg e.V., der Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe Rheinland-Pfalz Außenstelle Speyer und der Abteilung Frühgeschichtliche Archäologie und Archäologie des Mittelalters des Institut für Archäologische Wissenschaften an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau. Vorgestellt wird ein Sonderfund aus der Kernburg der Wachtenburg: ein Altarleuchter der Deutschen Spätromanik aus der Werkstatt des Theophilus Presbyter.

A b s t r a c t. The article focuses on the rules of organ playing presented by Jacques Boyvin in his Traité abregé de l'accompagnement pour l'orgue et pour le clavessin (Paris, 1705). Boyvin, born about 1653 in Paris, and died 1706, June 30 th , spent most of his life in Rouen, the capital of Nor-mandy. There, since 1676, he occupied the position of cathedral organist, earning fame of one of the most accomplished organists of the second half of the 17 th century. His main musical output consists of two collections of organ music: Premier livre d'orgue contenant les huit tons à l'usage ordinaire de l'Eglise, published in Paris in 1690, and Second livre d'orgue contenant les huit tons à l'usage ordinaire de l'Eglise (Paris, 1700) and the above-mentioned treatise, which is considered to be one of the most important sources regarding keyboard playing practice at the turn of 18 th century. In the first chapter Traité abrégé Boyvin discusses the main rules of music composition and he explains the symbols used in the transcription of basse continuë. In the second chapter he concentrates on various aspects of practical harmony of sounds. The third chapter includes a list of remarks on practical and performing aspects, which should be followed while playing the organ and the harpsichord. The last chapter (Des transpositions) deals with the important issue of scales transposition, which is often applicable in liturgical music. The important part of this article is the first in Polish literature of the subject, translation of the whole treatise, and the collection of organ exercises (preludes) originally published at the end of the treatise. The author of the article hopes to provide satisfactory amount of information both for organists and musicologists interested in the 18 th century French music theory.

The Alan “gloss” on the margins of the Akathist to Saint Nicholas
(the problem of reception)
The study of ethnolinguistic aspects of the reception of the Christian
(Byzantine) spiritual tradition by the local (Alan) tradition has become
particularly relevant after the recent discovery of Alan medieval marginal
glosses. For the first time, this problem of the reception of Christianity by
the Alan flock is solved comprehensively and systematically through an
appeal to the Akathist to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, which contains
a characteristic innovation interpreted as a kind of “gloss” to Christian
worship. Comparative-historical and structural-semiotic analysis of the
Ossetian lexeme kºuvd | kovd ‘ritual feast, collective prayer’ allows us to
compare it with the Greek λειτουργία ‘common cause; worship’. As a
result, it is possible not only to trace both ways of the Alan reception of
Christianity, historical-theological and mytho-ritual, but also to reveal its
very cultural and historical core, going back to the same Proto-Indo-European source as the ancient Greek rite of θεοξένια.

Il corso si propone di fornire le linee guida per lo studio dell’Instrumentum Domesticum e della cultura materiale dei secoli tardo antichi ed alto medievali, con lezioni frontali in aula ed esercitazioni pratiche a cura dei massimi specialisti del settore.

Il corso, in lingua italiana, avrà inizio lunedì 2 marzo e terminerà venerdì 6 marzo. Venerdì 6 marzo, nel pomeriggio, sarà previsto un esame per verificare quanto appreso in aula.

ATTESTATO

Al termine del ciclo di lezioni verrà rilasciato un attestato di partecipazione per il numero delle ore effettivamente frequentate: nel caso di frequentazione di tutto il corso e di passaggio dell’esame, l’attestato sarà equivalente ad un totale di 6 crediti universitari.

È possibile concordare l’iscrizione a singole lezioni del corso, con rilascio di relativo attestato. L’iscrizione deve avvenire entro il 7 febbraio, con relativo pagamento della quota e si effettua presso la Segreteria dell’istituto dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 9 alle 12,30.

Wydany anonimowo 1 w roku 1673 traktat La science et la pratique du plain-chant 2 (Teoria i praktyka plain-chant), którego autorem okazał się Pierre-Beno-ît de Jumilhac 3 (1611-82), jest jednym z najbardziej obszernych i szczegółowych źródeł wiedzy na temat monodii liturgicznej XVII wieku. Ze względu na niespo-1 W chwili wydania traktatu i przez pewien czas później sądzono, że jego autorem jest Dom Jacques le Clerc (†1679), a Jumilhac jedynie czuwał nad redakcyjną stroną dzieła. Przekłamanie to skorygował Edmond Martène (†1739) w swej pracy Histoire de la congrégation de Saint-Maur (dzie-ło to przez dłuższy czas pozostawało w rękopisie i zostało wydane dopiero w XX wieku). Dodajmy też, że w literaturze naukowej nie ma wielu prac poświęconych Jumilhac' owi. Pierwszym obszer-nym omówieniem jego działalności jest XVIII-wieczna antologia zawierająca spis najważniejszych członków zgromadzenia zajmujących się działalnością naukową: R.P. Tassin, Histoire littéraire de la Congrégation de Saint Maur, ordre de Saint Benoît, Paris 1770. Z nowszych pozycji naukowych jemu poświęconych wymienić należy przede wszystkim przekrojowy artykuł autorstwa C. Facsimile strony tytułowej zamieszczono na końcu niniejszego artykułu. 3 Po odbyciu studiów fi lozofi cznych w Bordeaux Jumilhac wstępuje do nowicjatu w opactwie Saint-Remi w Reims, gdzie w roku 1629 przyjmuje świecenia. W krótkim czasie zostaje wysłany przez władze zgromadzenia do Rzymu, gdzie jednak, ze względu na problemy ze zdrowiem i nie-korzystny dla niego klimat, przebywa dość krótko i wraca ponownie do Francji. Przez kolejne lata przebywa w różnych klasztorach zgromadzenia, pełniąc różne funkcje i ciesząc się opinią niezwykle pobożnego i sumiennego zakonnika. W roku 1666 na własną prośbę zrzeka się pełnionych dotąd funkcji w zgromadzeniu i za zgodą władz osiada w paryskim klasztorze Saint Germain des Pres. W tym właśnie czasie rozpoczyna się okres szczególnie intensywnej pracy naukowej, której efektem jest m.in. omawiany traktat.

This study represents a spatial study of medieval coins discovered in the nave and the tower of the church of Bunge on north-eastern Gotland. With more than 4,000 coins, Bunge represents one of the most prolific and productive Christian ritual sites in Scandinavia. The aim is to analyse and compare the use of coins in Bunge and the issue of how coins, as a means of payment, relate and interact with the liturgical space. In the church, the well-documented and richly furnished church, the ubiquity of coins, which almost litter the space, and the presence of other small finds such as beads and pins make it possible to study the coins as an integral part of material culture discarded or offered. It is argued that clustering of coins, beads and pins may reflect movements of people and things, burials, offerings and monetary behaviour. In some instances, densities of coin material and empty spaces indicate the placement of medieval interiors and constructions now lost.

  Church archaeology provides evidence for patterns of monetary use related to liturgy, church architecture and devotional culture through the centuries.
