Intensity

During the last decade, there was a paradigm-shift in order to consider terrestrial planets within liquid-water habitable zones (LW-HZ) around M stars, as suitable places for the emergence and evolution of life. Here we analyze the influence of UV boundary conditions to three planetary systems around dM (HIP 74995, HIP 109388 and HIP 113020). We apply our model of UV habitable zone (UV-HZ) (Buccino et al. 2006) to these cases and show that during the quiescent UV output there would not be enough UV radiation within the LW-HZ in order to trigger biogenic processes. We also analyze the cases of two other M flare stars and show that the flares of moderate intensity could provide the necessary energy to trigger those biogenic processes, while the strong flares not necessary rule-out the possibility of life-bearing planets.

The effect of the nature and concentration of coagulants on the effectiveness of reducing the colour intensity with varying the concentration of sorbent from 1 to 3 g/l and coagulants Al2(SO4)3 and FeCl3, respectively 0.5; 0.75 mg/l. It has been shown that from the mentioned reagents the optimal option is the use of aluminium sulfate and iron chloride as a coagulant, as a flocculant - anionic polyacrylamide in concentrations of 0.5 mg/l, 0.75 mg/l and 0.5 mg/l respectively. It is determined that application of coagulants and flocculant for treatment of wastewater of silkworm production makes it possible to achieve required parameters of quality of treatment, at that efficiency of treatment on suspended substances makes 94.0-97.0%, on COD 87.0-91.0%, on dyes 91.0-94.0%.

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of playing formation on high-intensity running and technical performance during elite soccer matches. Twenty English FA Premier League games were analysed using a multiple-camera computerized tracking system (n = 153 players). Overall ball possession did not differ (P < 0.05) between 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 formations (50%, s = 7 vs. 49%, s = 8 vs. 44%, s = 6). No differences were observed in high-intensity running between 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 formations. Compared with 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formations, players in a 4-5-1 formation performed less very high-intensity running when their team was in possession (312 m, s = 196 vs. 433 m, s = 261 vs. 410 m, s = 270; P 5 0.05) but more when their team was not in possession (547 m, s = 217 vs. 461 m, s = 156 vs. 459 m, s = 169; P < 0.05). Uma questão ou questionamento sobre o corpo presente nas práticas e nas reflexões que envolvem a forma de dança denominada Contato Improvisação é o ponto de partida para uma revisão das principais abordagens sobre o corpo nas Ciências Sociais, especialmente na Antropologia, relacionadas a negociações sobre os domínios natural e cultural. A análise de um aspecto específico do Contato Improvisação ilustra a sugestão de que a noção de intensidades, na forma como desenvolvida por Deleuze e Guattari, pode elucidar relações dessa e de outras práticas que envolvem o corpo com modos diferenciados de engajamento no mundo.

solaire qui représente l’intensité et l’acceptation de la finitude comme les
deux versants du monde méditerranéen.

O objetivo deste artigo é discutir a diferença entre produtividade e intensidade de trabalho e seus efeitos sobre a subjetividade dos trabalhadores à luz teoria do valor, de Marx. Enquanto produtividade é frequentemente tema debatido nas Ciências Econômicas, a intensidade tem sido tema de pesquisas na Sociologia, com enfoque principalmente sobre os seus efeitos nos trabalhadores (doenças ocupacionais, acidentes de trabalho, etc.). Foi realizada uma revisão de literatura para levantamento de artigos e livros que abordam cada um dos conceitos e seus efeitos sobre a subjetividade dos trabalhadores. Pretende-se demonstrar que, embora ambos os conceitos sejam muitas vezes tidos como semelhantes, eles produzem um impacto diferente na subjetividade dos trabalhadores. Parte-se da hipótese de que enquanto a produtividade pode ser vista como positiva pelos trabalhadores, a intensidade produz efeito oposto. Ao final do estudo, concluímos que tanto intensidade como produtividade podem ser vistas pelo trabalhador como positivas ou negativas, dependendo da forma salarial. Concluímos também que é importante para a análise do processo de trabalho na contemporaneidade e seu impacto sobre a subjetividade do trabalhador o resgate da discussão sobre salário por peça, por hora e por tempo, feita por Marx nos Capítulos XVIII e XIX do Livro I de "O Capital". Η 12βάθμια ITIS2012 (Integrated Tsunami Intensity Scale) δομήθηκε και προτάθηκε από τους Lekkas E., Andreadakis E., Kostaki I. και Kapourani E., με βάση την εμπειρία έρευνας πεδίου, αλλά και το πλήθος των διαθέσιμων δεδομένων που αφορούν στα δύο πρόσφατα mega-tsunamis στην Ινδονησία το 2004 και στην Ιαπωνία το 2011. Σκοπός της προτεινόμενης κλίμακας είναι να καλύψει την ανάγκη υιοθέτησης μίας μεθόδου υπολογισμού της έντασης των tsunami ευρείας από άποψη τόσο βαθμίδων, όσο και παραμέτρων. Βασίζεται στην καταγραφή των βασικών φυσικών μεγεθών του φαινομένου, αλλά και των επιπτώσεών του στον άνθρωπο και τον ανθρώπινο πολιτισμό και στο περιβάλλον, δομημένο (υποδομές, κατασκευές, μετακινούμενα αντικείμενα) ή μη.
Η ITIS2012 εφαρμόζεται στην μεταπτυχιακή αυτή διατριβή για πρώτη φορά στην περίπτωση του tsunami που εκδηλώθηκε εξαιτίας της σεισμικής δόνησης μεγέθους 9 Mw στην Ιαπωνία στις 11 Μαρτίου 2011 και ειδικότερα στην παράκτια περιοχή του κόλπου του Ishinomaki. Συλλέχθηκαν για το σκοπό αυτό δεδομένα ανάλογα με τα κριτήρια της κλίμακας, από τα οποία εξήχθησαν μέσω λογισμικού GIS θεματικοί χάρτες απεικόνισης της έντασης κατά ITIS2012 ανά κατηγορία κριτηρίων και τελικός χάρτης έντασης tsunami για την υπό μελέτη περιοχή.
Τα αποτελέσματα αποδεικνύουν την εφαρμοσιμότητα της κλίμακας σε περιοχές που παρουσιάζουν ποικιλία γεωμορφολογίας και χρήσεων γης και είναι αξιοποιήσιμα τόσο στην αξιολόγηση της κλίμακας, όσο και στην εξαγωγή συμπερασμάτων για τη διάδοση και καταστροφικότητα των κυμάτων tsunami στην περιοχή μελέτης.

This paper introduces Deleuze’s philosophy of becoming in a system theoretic framework and proposes an alternative ontological foundation to the study of systems and complex systems in particular. A brief critique of systems theory and the difficulties apparent in it is proposed as an introduction to the discussion. Following is an overview aimed at providing access to the ‘big picture’ of Deleuze’s revolutionary philosophical system with emphasis on a system theoretic approach and terminology. The major concepts of Deleuze’s ontology—difference, virtuality, multiplicity, assemblages, quasi-causation, becoming (individuation), intensity and progressive determination are introduced and discussed. Deleuze’s work is a radical departure from the dogma of western philosophy that guides the foundations of science and systems theory. It replaces identity with difference and being with becoming; in other words, it provides systems theory with an ontological ground based on change, heterogeneity and the inexhaustible novelty-producing process that underlies all phenomena. The conceptual tools made available by this philosophy seem to capture the fundamental aspects of complexity and complex systems much better than the current conceptual system that is based on static transcendent ontological entities.

The high seismic activity demands the preparation of seismic zoning map for planners to mitigate earthquake impacts on civil infrastructures and urban development in Pakistan. The available indigenous and international seismic zoning maps usually are prepared by methods using seismological data and surface geology. Such maps mislead in areas where seismicity is diffused in relation to surface geology. Therefore, an attempt has been made to analyze tectonic, deep structural and seismological data in addition to specific seismic force, deformation intensity of Earth crust and geophysical data to determine seismogeodynamical environment of hypocenter of earthquakes and attenuation of intensity proportional to depth and magnitude of earthquakes for preparation of a more appropriate seismic zone map of Pakistan. Hypocenters of Pakistani shallow earthquakes are confined mainly in seismogenic layers, 10-20 km and 30-45 km. So, knowledge of tectonic processes and physico-chemical properties of seismogenic layers and deep faults separating seismogeodynamical zones are also important in seismic zoning. The deep structures controlling dynamics of tectonic structures with axis perpendicular to main faults are considered as boundaries between Indian and Eurasian Plates in Pakistan. The correlation between depth, magnitude and attenuation specific intensity value of earthquake allows to understand the role of depth and magnitude as essential parameters in seismic zoning. Seismic zones of Pakistan are determined by evaluation of all available parameters. The present seismic hazard map contains intensity isoseismals values 7, 8 and 9 of the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale. It is observed that 80% of the territory of Pakistan is vulnerable to earthquakes.

anthropology of intensity studies how humans encounter and communicate the continuous and gradable features of social and environmental
phenomena in everyday interactions. Focusing on the last twenty years of
life in a Mayan village in the cloud forests of Guatemala, this book provides
a natural history of intensity in exceedingly tense times, through a careful
analysis of ethnographic and linguistic evidence. It uses intensity as a way
to reframe Anthropology in the age of the Anthropocene, and rethinks
classic work in the formal linguistic tradition from a culture-specific and
context-sensitive stance. It is essential reading for not only anthropologists
and linguists, but also ecologically oriented readers, critical theorists, and
environmental scientists.
