Gniezno

The aim of this thesis was to change the land development plan of urban
park in Gniezno. The work was achieved basing on the collected planning
materials and questionnaire among the citizens. Two different concepts of the land development plan are the result of the collected data. One of the concept relates to the former look of the urban park in Gniezno, the other one is based on the citizens suggestions from the questionnaire, which they filled in. To the work was attached the map lad use structure, area development plan, which is setting of Jelonek lake and conceptual designs with its visualizations. Both concepts includes interesting solutions which influence on rising attachments of the urban park.

Ofiarami zbrodni pomorskiej 1939 roku byli także duchowni. Tekst omawia męczeństwo dwóch z nich, duszpasterzy z parafii św. Bartłomieja ze Szczepanowa (powiat mogileński): ks. proboszcza Michała Rólskiego i ks. wikariusza Władysława Nowickiego oraz formy pamięci o nim, a także ślady kultu w rozumieniu Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego.

Lusatian cuLture and Pomeranian cuLture in Gniezno – an outLine of the research issues abstract: The purpose of this article is to re-analyse and verify the current arrangements for the settlement of the Lusatian and Pomeranian cultures on Lech Mountain in Gniezno. An attempt to interpret the phenomenon which was the settlement from the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age was made based on the repeated, more detailed analysis of the archival material and new finds. The article focuses on the issues of the role of Gniezno in the era of the formation and development of both archaeological cultures, inter alia it stresses the connections between the societies of the Lusatian culture in the middle and younger Bronze Age with the western Wielkopolska groups, and also stresses the connections between the Lusatian culture and the Pomeranian culture in the early Iron Age, while putting new research questions and issues about this subject.

The present work aims to study one of the basic problem of the medieval Polish ecclesiastical hierarchy, the formation of the first (arch)bishopric centers, the construction process of the ecclesiastical hierarchy. Two different level are to be distingished in this process, the first, the foundation of Poznań supported by Otto I’s imperial-eccliastical policy which attached the Polish territories to Magdeburg and the imperial hierarchy. On a second level, around the first millenium, the foundation of the archbishopric seat at Gniezno, by Otto III referrs to a new imperial and ecclesiasical idea, the development of the Orbis Christianus by the organization of independent ecclesiastical province of Poland. The present study examinates also if this double level has influenced the further development of the hierarchy and contributed to the dichotomy which is clearly detected in the 12th century.

Dopiski na marginesach w Pontyfikale z Płocka, podobnie jak cały manuskrypt, odznaczają się niezwykle burzliwą historią, w której pozostało jeszcze wiele tajemnic. Nie wszystkie addycje udało się w ramach prowadzonego projektu odczytać, ale już na podstawie niektórych z nich, można zaproponować w tym miejscu pierwszą hipotezę na temat losów słynnej księgi przechowywanej obecnie w Płocku.

The analysis is devoted to the St. Stanislaus chapel erected near Gniezno Cathedral on the initia-tive of Primate Jan Łaski between 1518 and 1523 (pulled down in the late 18th century). Foundation of this central, free-standing mausoleum plays an important role in the history of the beginnings of Renaissance art in Poland. Its realisation took place simultaneously with construction of the chapel: the mausoleum of King Sigismund I the Old at Wawel. Archbishop Jan Łaski was involved in bringing to Poland Bartolommeo Berrecci, a designer of the royal chapel, who perhaps also participated in preparing the Gniezno design. Undoubtedly, the Łaski foundation was influenced by his stay in Rome in 1513-1515, when the Archbishop was permitted to take some soil from the Roman necropolis of Campo Samo and use it to sanctify the cemetery at Gniezno Cathedral. The concept of the mausoleum was also connected with the tombstones ordered in Hungary in Giovanni Fiorentino studio.On the basis of the preserved line of foundations, we can distinguish a number of important featu-res of the building. It had a central layout. The core part took the form of a cylinder, most probably vaulted by the dome. Three semi-circular apses formed a elear triconch. From the south there was an entrance to the chapel. No less important was location of the mausoleum, situated between the cathe-dral and St George’s a collegiate church. On the same axis was the original location of the tomb of St. Adalbert. The solutions applied in Gniezno may have had their sources in a Roman art centre. They were used in a sedes of projects and concepts appearing around the Julius II foundation, renovation of St. Peter’s Basilica and the concept of the papai mausoleum. They were related to the work of Donato Bramante and Giuliano da Sangallo. The Vatican architectural designs were formulated in the context of unique historical significance of St. Peter’s burial place. A similar, ancient context appeared in Gniezno, a place associated with the beginnings of Christianity in Poland.

In the name of the national socialist ideology, German scholars and cultural personalities weeded out Polishness from the history of Gniezno during the Nazi occupation (1939-1945). Consequently, in their perception, culture was only a weapon in the struggle to strengthen the process of Germanization. Their reinterpretation of the city's history, mendacious and incoherent as it was, provided a basis of the cultural policy addressed exclusively to the German population. The process of strengthening Germanization involved both the mass culture (e.g. movie projections) and the high culture as well as the unfulfilled idea of a regional museum. Konsekwentnie w kulturze widzieli je-dynie oręż do umacniania w nim niemczyzny. Ich reinterpretacja historii miasta, kłamliwa i niespój-na, była teoretyczną podstawą polityki kulturalnej, adresowanej wyłącznie do Niemców. W proces umacniania niemczyzny wciągnięto zarówno kulturę masową (np. projekcje filmów), jak i kulturę wysoką, a także niezrealizowany projekt muzeum regionalnego.

The aim of this thesis was to create a concept for rail service, public transport of the city of Gniezno and communes located along the Gniezno Narrow-Gauge Railway route (GKW) in the light of the concept of a tram-train. The work was carried out on the basis of existing planning documents and with the using research tools such as traffic measurements, or the analysis of migration related to the place of employment. The result of the activities carried out are two proposals for the tram system, separately for the GKW route, and separately for the city of Gniezno. The work includes drawings showing the development of areas around bus stops, elements of small architecture and maps of traffic generators and population density. Ideas presented at work improve the condition of public transport in Gniezno and its surroundings.

Znamienity pamiętnik z czasów Powstania Wielkopolskiego.
I to pamiętnik nie byle kogo, bo jednego z liderów powstania w północnej części kraju – nie tylko Wielkopolski, bo zakusy Jacobsona sięgały znacznie dalej.
Autor zamyka opisywane perypetie powstańcze w ramach czasowych od grudnia 1918 do połowy lutego 1919 roku. Opowiada, jak będąc jeszcze oficerem niemieckim, trafił w szeregi powstańców, jak objął zwierzchnictwo nad powstańczym „pospolitym ruszeniem” w Gnieźnie i jak zarządzał operacjami powstańców na terenach na północ od Gniezna. Przy czym wszystkie te funkcje sprawował nieformalnie. Jako że działał poza strukturami Naczelnej Rady Ludowej, nie musiał podporządkowywać się jej zarządzeniom i kursowi polityki pójścia na ugodę z Niemcami (co z satysfakcją przyjmować miał formalny komendant Gniezna).
Swoje wspomnienia Jacobson kończy krótkim podsumowaniem. Ocenia zdarzenia, których był uczestnikiem, w kontekście efektów, jakie udało się osiągnąć. Sporo uwagi poświęca „czynnikowi ludzkiemu” – tak pod względem statystyki, jak i sprawowania. Sprawowania nie zawsze tak bohaterskiego i zorganizowanego, jakby mogło się zdawać. --- Wydawnictwo Replika ---

Dr Wojciech Jacobson podzielił całość swoich wspomnień na cztery części. W pierwszej ukazał swoje ostatnie tygodnie w szeregach wojsk niemieckich jesienią 1918 roku, panujące wówczas nastroje oraz sytuację Polaków w jej szeregach. Druga część obejmuje udział autora w Powstaniu Wielkopolskim na terenie Gniezna oraz północnej Wielkopolski. Część trzecia traktuje o udziale autora w wojnie polsko-bolszewickiej 1919–1920. Ostatnia, czwarta, stanowi swego rodzaju załącznik i dotyczy różnych zagadnień z okresu Powstania Wielkopolskiego, takich jak: działania kontrwywiadowcze, zdobycie pociągu pancernego pod Rynarzewem, relacje z gnieźnieńską Strażą Ludową czy stosunek kolonistów niemieckich do powstania.
