Este ensayo tiene como objetivo el análisis narrativo de las representaciones contemporáneas más paradigmáticas de autómatas, robots, androides/ginoides, cíborgs o replicantes existentes en los ámbitos cinematográfico y televisivo. A través de diferentes técnicas –como el Matte Painting, 3D, VFX, CGI o Motion Capture–, los ejemplos escogidos provocan la más inquietante y desgarradora distopía posible: la del humano-no humano; unos engendros cuyos cuerpos se rinden a la voluntad del propio artificio, tendiendo en algunos casos hacia su transformación final en un complejo algoritmo. Para ello, se han seleccionado una serie de títulos a través de los cuales exploraremos diferentes vías: tanto la trasposición corporal de lo diferente en una serie de universo(s) futuro(s) imaginado(s), como la deconstrucción de la realidad-real, fuente de todo mundo alternativo –metaverso–; así como la disociación de identidades, elemento que supone el primer paso hacia la deconstrucción total del ser, c...

It was a slow start but the phonograph record gradually became a stage unto itself for a dancing figure, and the most popular of all were Ragtime Dancers from the World of Minstrelsy. "Rastus" was activated in Boston in 1914 and gave rise to several other - even newsworthy - terpsichorean combinations. But where did the little Automata get their own beginning? Could it have been even before the invention of the phonograph?

El proyecto del reactor nuclear de potencia CAREM es el primero desarrollado integramente en Argentina y unico en su tipo. Este desarrollo se enmarca en un contexto internacional de fuerte inversion en el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologias para aumentar el rendimiento y la seguridad de este tipo de plantas. Por este motivo, uno de los objetivos del diseno del CAREM es la automatizacion de ciertas tareas con la finalidad de reducir la exposicion del personal de la planta, ademas de posibles errores humanos. Como en todos los reactores, resulta critico asegurar la integridad estructural de los tubos de los generadores de vapor, ya que estos actuan de barrera entre los circuitos primario y secundario. En CAREM, los tubos se inspeccionan en cada parada programada de recambio de combustibles, una vez cada 18 meses. Para ello, se ha optado por la aplicación de una metodología analítico-estructuralista e interpretativa, propia de la disciplina de las artes y las humanidades. Su desarrollo conducirá al planteamiento de una sugestiva conclusión procedente del estudio textual de esas presencias: la existencia de una singular profecía en la que el ser humano, que ya no lo es tanto, puede eternizarse para así vencer su obsolescencia natural y biológica otorgada desde su tradicional nacimiento.

Automata Theory is an enthralling domain in computer science in which we develop abstract models of the logic or the computation that runs in the background of any machine.DFAs and NFAs play a tremendous role in designing, analyzing the dynamic behavior of these models.Each DFA is an NFA,but each NFA is not a DFA.However each NFA can be translated or made equivalent to a DFA .There are a few methods already available for converting a NFA into its equivalent DFA.Our aim through this paper is to design an efficient algorithm for NFA to DFA conversion in C language.

El campo de la robótica social antropomórfica constituye uno de los territorios más interesantes para la reflexión filosófica contemporánea, por cuanto
aúna en un mismo frente cuestiones de orden antropológico, ético y estético. Tomando como base la leyenda medieval del autómata de san Alberto Magno, el presente trabajo señala los riesgos asociados a la mimetización robótica del ser humano cuando las presunciones teóricas sobre el mismo son deflacionarias de su complejidad.

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo hacer una lectura del “juguete” de Holmberg, a través del análisis de la construcción del relato desde la perspectiva del “narrador autómata”, el cual efectúa en el discurso operaciones de simulación, disolución y, ante todo, desestabilización de la vida. Para ello, se examinará el texto desde el conocimiento que irrumpe con la carta que Fritz / Oscar Baum le dirige a Hipnock.

Modern collectors of World's Fair memorabilia often find an attractive full-color trade card showing a Talking Automaton of Uncle Sam at the (Chicago) World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 (May 1-Oct 30). It proudly claimed (in the caption) the delivery of over 40,000 speeches extolling the virtues of the new Hub Gore Shoes. But who made it, where was it shown, and what did it actually say? The few books that mention the patriotic device assume it was on the Midway despite a lack of such contemporary evidence. This March 2004 article was my first attempt to understand this little known invention, but I am re-visiting the subject, with renewed vigor, and will have a follow-up in March of 2023. Most of the historical questions concerning this unusual Display will then be solved. Watch this space (now above)!

People always valued nature around them so the gardens accompanied their houses and residences from the ancient times. Some features of garden compositions were recurring in historical periods differing only in some aspects. In contemporary gardens they are repeated again. To assess the coincidences, a short graphic analysis of the basic features of historical gardens was developed. A tool that has allowed to identify differences and similarities between old and contemporary is the tabulation of composition schemes of well-known historic gardens and comparing the results with the features of the recent developments. This allowed us to investigate whether the same elements of composition, despite 21st century changes, apply today. En este proyecto de grado se pretende diseñar un prototipo que permita realizar la inspección del interior de las tuberías de acueducto de la ciudad de Pereira, con el n de obtener las características internas y poder aclarar si las condiciones del funcionamiento son las más adecuadas o si es necesario realizar algún cambio de ésta. Este trabajo tiene como objetivos realizar el diseño electrónico y el diseño mecánico del prototipo de inspección. Para conocer el proceso de inspección, se realiza la reseña de los diferentes dispositivos que existen a nivel mundial, así como también las diferentes formas de defectos que se presentan en las tuberías. Developing and mantaining aeronautic software, such as on board software, is a very hard and complex task. Because of the long lifecycles of these applications, they are often developed in programming languages lacking the sophisticated tools that are available in today languages. Therefore, the software developers are forced to use adhoc, non reusable tools. The goal of this project is to improve de development process of aeronautic applications through the implementation of reusable tools, aimed to facilitate the production of high quality software.

At the end of the 18th century, the new idea of the mountain landscape as an ideal and beautiful landscape emerged in Central Europe. This cultural process was conditioned by the contemporary aesthetic concepts of the Sublime and the Picturesque, related to the development of a new cultural and social practice of education of the eye (described in the book of Peter De Bolla The Education of the Eye: Painting, Landscape, and Architecture in Eighteenth Century Britain, 2003). In a Central European context, the model of the mountain landscape was found in the Krkonoše mountain range, and travelogues, analysed in our case study, have contributed to its establishment.

The Greek original of Hero’s most influential text, the Mechanics, was lost early, and was only transmitted to the West in Arabic. The Greek text of his less important – and possibly unfinished – work on Pneumatics, however, found its way to Europe after the fall of Constantinople, where it had been preserved in what Will Noel calls ‘the Ark for ancient literature’. Texts often precede performance, but are equally often the consequence of a tradi- tion of ‘situated’ or maker’s knowledge. This paper looks at the ways in which knowledge became ‘resituated’ in the practice of Renaissance engineers, artists and garden architects through the rediscovery and diffusion of Hero’s Pneumatics. The first deals with water organs, including the musical compositions with which they were provided, and several automata of Heronian design, such as the androids of the Farnese court, the Fountain of the Owl, and the myth of Faun and the nymph Echo. The various hydraulic systems for providing the pressurised air needed for their operation, also adopted in forges and melting furnaces, are analysed from a technical point of view. In the second part are illustrated ingenia of various kind, not always hydraulically operated, like: organs and harpsichords activated by sunlight or counterweights , the automata that once figured in the Roman museum of Athanasius Kircher, those realized by the missionaries for the Imperial Court of Peking, several reconstructions of the mythical Vulcan's forge, Michele Todini's famous "Galleria armonica", and a special type of hydraulis made in Naples in the Late Renaissance.

El presente texto parte de un análisis histórico sobre figuras emblemáticas de la filosofía, las matemáticas y la ingeniería para proponer una lectura actualizada del origen ancestral de la tecnología digital y su intrínseco vínculo con el arte y el diseño. Las obras analizadas en este artículo comprenden los siglos II a.C. y XIV d.C. Se presenta la clepsidra como base para la elaboración de máquinas más sofisticadas, como los autómatas (ancestros de las computadoras actuales) y otros dispositivos. Para demostrar este punto se examina la obra de tres insignes inventores: Arquímedes de Siracusa, Ismail Al-Jazari y Leonardo Da Vinci.
