Антропоэстетика - новый раздел физической антропологии, разработанный автором на базе материалов полевых сезонов, проводившихся с 1991 года. Антропоэстетика изучает характер эстетического восприятия красивых лиц в разных группах современного населения. Автором применялся новый метод, соединивший традиционные приемы сбора антропологического материала и практику тестирования, принятую в области социально-культурных и психологических исследований. Впервые в отечественной физической антропологии ставится проблема изучения эстетического предпочтения варианта внешности на фоне и во взаимодействии с антропологическим разнообразием и биометрического моделирования этого процесса. Обосновываются методологические аспекты антропоэстетики. По результатам анализа полученных данных выстраивается картина эстетического выбора вариантов лиц в группах русских, башкир, татар, чувашей, коми, марийцев, мордвы, венгров, литовцев, калмыков, китайцев, арабов. В научный оборот вводится новая информация об опыте эстетического взаимодействия человека с окружающим антропологическим разнообразием и механизмах его восприятия. Program Pendidikan Guru Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PG PAUD) nantinya akan menghasilkan pendidik dan tenaga  kependidikan anak usia dini yang professional, baik secara teoritis maupun praktis. Untuk mencapai hal itu, mahasiswa tidak hanya dibekali dengan dasar-dasar kependidikan anak usia dini, namun juga memahami anak itu sendiri baik dari psikis maupun fisik. Bioantropologi adalah salah satu ilmu yang dapat membantu memahami mengenai fisik anak. Bioantropologi atau dapat disebut Antropologi Fisik merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu Antropologi yang menitikberatkan pada kajian tubuh atau jasmani manusia. Bioantropologi berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan terutama mahasiswa, mengenai seluk beluk tubuh manusia terutama tubuh anak, apalagi dengan mereka yang nantinya akan berinteraksi langsung dengan anak di sekolah. Pengetahuan dasar mengenai tubuh manusia penting untuk diketahui, setidaknya pengetahuan mengenai fenotipe (karakteristik yang tampak dari luar atau dapat diamati langsung), sehingga
dapat memahami perbandingan ciri fisik tubuh normal dan abnormal. Ciri karakter fisik tersebut dapat digunakan untuk melakukan deteksi dini jika terdapat kelainan pada tubuh terutama pada anak. Perbandingan fisik normal dan abnormal dapat diketahui dengan pengukuran Antropometri. Selain itu, pengetahuan mengenani Neurobiologi atau Neurosains dapat membantu guru untuk memahami cara kerja otak anak sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai pertimbangan dalam menentukan metode belajar pada anak usia dini.

Thinning of the parietal bone is a disease described in the eighteenth century. Although it has been known for such a long time, there is still no consensus in terms of its aetiology. Some have considered it an anatomical variant or a non-progressive congenital dysplasia of the díploe, others think it is an acquired and progressive disease, some associate it with senility or osteoporosis, others blame growth defects or even constant pressure on this area of the skull as its cause, and
finally, there are researchers that relate it to acute inflammatory atrophy associated with trauma, primary and metastatic tumours, the Gorham-Stout disease, diabetes mellitus, and, in actual clinical practice, a prolonged steroid therapy.
Five skulls with this pathology were discovered in the necropolis excavated inside of cloister of Infante Don Juan Manuel (Belmonte, Spain). In this necropolis 84 individuals have been exhumed;
74 females, 3 males and 7 indeterminate, all aged from 14-16 to more than 60 years of age. Documentation of that period indicates that mostly nuns were buried in that cloister.
Radiography was performed on all the cases from both necropolises in order to establish the correct diagnosis.
All of them were woman, four of them aged between 40-50 to more than 60 years, and in one case it was impossible to determinate the precise age.

Resumen
El adelgazamiento bilateral de los huesos parietales es una enfermedad descrita desde el siglo XVIII, aunque no hay unanimidad en cuanto a su etiología: algunos lo han considerado como una variedad anatómica o una displasia congénita no progresiva del díploe, otros una enfermedad
adquirida y progresiva, otros lo relacionan con la senilidad, la osteoporosis, diversos defectos del crecimiento, o incluso provocada por una presión constante en esta zona del cráneo, y por último, hay investigadores que lo relacionan con una atrofa inflamatoria aguda asociada a un trauma, tumores primarios y metastásicos, la enfermedad de Gorham-Stout, la diabetes mellitus, y, en clínica actual, a una terapia prolongada de esteroides. Estudios actuales lo asocian con la osteoporosis senil post-menopáusica.
Los cinco casos provienen de una necrópolis del siglo XVI-XVII excavada en el Claustro del Infante Don Juan Manuel, en Belmonte (España). En esta necrópolis se exhumaron 84 individuos (74 mujeres, 3 hombres y 7 indeterminados), con edades comprendidas entre los 14-16 y más de 60
años. Documentación de la época indica que en este claustro se enterraba preferentemente a las monjas que habitaban el convento.
En todos los casos y en ambas necrópolis se realizaron radiografías para establecer un correcto diagnóstico.
Todos los cráneos pertenecen a mujeres. Cuatro de ellas con una edad entre 40-50 y más de 60 años, y un caso donde fue imposible determinar la edad.

The book Relics @ the Lab, an Analytical Approach to the Study of Relics includes a series of studies presented at the first international workshop Relics @ the Lab organized by the Royal Institute of Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) in Brussels, Belgium (27-28 October 2016). The papers cover a large variety of themes as well as analytical methods. Some papers focus on the primary relics while others deal with the nature and origin of secondary as well as tertiary relics. The first group of papers emphases on the archaeological authenticity of the relics, the second group elucidate the use, additions and manipulations of the relics through the ages.
The applied analytical techniques are very divers. Radiocarbon and physical anthropology are the main tools to study the primary relics, while dye analysis, imaging techniques, textile analysis and dendrochronology are used to study the secondary and tertiary relics. Sometimes unexpected techniques, like the analysis of writing ink or the determination of plants and excrements, complete the wide range of analytical methods used to understand the origin, nature and context of the relics.

Academics as well as professionals working in archaeology, art history, museum labs and conservation sciences will find this an invaluable reference source.

Female monasteries had a very important role in society. Not only were they the centre of spirituality, but also the centre of education, and they often provided shelter and food for beggars, medical care for the sick and home for the elderly poor and orphans. Apart from orphans, historical sources mention other children – very young novices, often from noble families, sent to convents. Although the Council of Trent in the 16th century decided that the minimum age to enter in religion was 12 for girls, it seemed that this rule was often disobeyed in Spain.
The study of skeletal remains from two monastic necropoles, both found in the abandoned Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena in Belmonte, dating from the 16th-18th and 19th-20th century, confirmed the presence of two non-adults, aged 11.5±1 and 16.5±1 years, in the Early Modern age necropolis. Pathological changes, pointing to metabolic stress, were noted in both individuals. The older individual had poor dental health. 
Taking into account the fact that the remains were found in the necropolis where nuns were buried (and not in the civil cemetery) it is more likely that those non-adults were novices than orphans. Although it is not clear from their skeletal remains what the cause of their death was, it is possible that a sudden switch to life in cloister, which included hard physical work, reduced alimentation and fasting, could have produced a sort of metabolic shock, especially knowing the fact that most of the girls came from a high class of society.

Esta siguiente propuesta busca reconsiderar la correlación existente entre los astroritmos en la intensidad y propagación de una epidemia (o microorganismos). Para ello nos valdremos de datos epidemiológicos y astrociclos a lo largo de la historia.

Por su vinculación con la edad cronológica y el estatus de maduración, la edad ósea es útil en los campos clínico, forense, legal y deportivo. En 1983 Tanner y colaboradores propusieron el método TW2, años más tarde lo modificaron denominándolo TW3. En Latinoamérica, los estudios en población abierta en los que se han estimado las edades óseas empleado dichos métodos son muy escasos y no se llegan a conclusiones precisas sobre la conveniencia de utilizar uno u otro, y en México no se cuenta con trabajo alguno publicado en el que se utilice el método TW3. Previous studies have shown that ecological factors had a significant role in shaping the patterns of craniofacial variation among South American populations. Here, we evaluate whether tem- perature and diet contributed to facial diversification in small geographic areas. Facial size and shape of 9 osteological samples from central Patagonia (Argentina) were described using 2D land- marks and semilandmarks. Data on mean annual temperature, diet composition (delta 13 C and delta 15 N values) and femoral head maximum breadth, used as a proxy of body mass, were obtained for each sample. We then tested the association of body mass and the eco- logical variables with facial morphology using spatial regression techniques and a model selection approach. Akaike Information Criterion produced disparate results for both components of facial morphology. The best model for facial size included temperature and body mass proxy, and accounted for more than 80% of varia- tion in size. Lower temperatures were related to larger facial sizes. Body mass was negatively associated with facial size and showed no relationship with the temperature. This suggests a relatively inde- pendent variation of cranial traits and body mass at the spatial scalestudied here. Facial shape was not associated with the tempera- ture or diet composition, contrasting with the patterns observed at larger spatial scales. Our results point out that the effect of cli- matic variables on cranial traits might be a source of morphological differentiation not only at large scales but also in small geographic areas, and that size and shape display a differential preservation of environmental signals.

Panquilma is a 13th–15th century pre-Hispanic community of the Lurin Valley in Lima, Peru and is located in the hinterland of Pachacamac, an important religious center of the ancient Andes. Sector 03 is composed of hundreds of burial cists, most of which are arranged in clusters and have been heavily looted. Because of this, there is a lack of original context of burial substance for the cist excavated over the Summer 2013 field season.

This paper addresses field and lab methodology as well as serves as an examination of osteological and artifact data collected over a period of one month in a superficial cleaning of Unit 14, a burial cist located in Funerary Sector 03 of the Panquilma Archaeological site. This area was chosen due to a large concentration of visible artifacts and human remains on the surface. The purpose in the superficial cleaning was to recover as much information as possible in a short time frame. Data collected for this paper specifically target questions concerning the minimum number of individuals, age range, sex of individuals, stature, and touches on the presence of possible pathological conditions, traumas, or degenerative processes that acted upon individuals buried there throughout their lifetimes, as well as status and burial ritual interpretations.

de un proyecto de conservación en el Área de Antropología Biológica del Museo
Etnográfico J. B. Ambrosetti, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Este Plan Integral de Manejo de Colecciones Osteológicas se propone desarrollar un protocolo basado en el tratamiento ético de los restos humanos, destacándose los conceptos
de custodia, identidad y respeto, que cubre aspectos articulados en cuatro ejes
principales: ética, educación/investigación, conservación y patrimonio. Dentro de ese
marco, se discuten los procedimientos específicos implementados tendientes a la
salvaguarda y minimización del deterioro de un conjunto de restos humanos
afectados por agentes medioambientales. Se enfatiza en la interacción entre
especialistas de diferentes disciplinas para desarrollar tareas de conservación desde
una perspectiva integradora. Esta forma de abordar las colecciones establece nuevas
estrategias que contemplan la necesidad de desarrollar tareas de conservación y
analizar la información científica en un marco que priorice los aspectos bioéticos
de las políticas de manejo patrimonial. Los resultados son prometedores para la
caracterización de las colecciones, lo cual incluye la identificación, documentación,
conservación y guarda de restos humanos prehistóricos procedentes de diferentes
regiones del mundo. La aplicación de esta propuesta surge desde la bioantropología
para abordar las investigaciones de restos humanos desde una perspectiva integral.
Se pretende contribuir a generar conciencia entre los investigadores de restos humanos sobre la importancia de su participación en la generación de protocolos de conservación.

Tradicionalmente las determinaciones de sexo utilizadas en antropología se basan en la ponderación visual de rasgos osteológicos dimórficos del esqueleto pélvico y del cráneo. El objetivo de este trabajo es comparar determinaciones de sexo en poblaciones humanas arqueológicas, utilizando datos morfométricos craneales y determinaciones visuales realizadas a partir del esqueleto pélvico y del cráneo en una muestra de individuos de San Juan, Argentina. Esta muestra (n=18) está formada por un conjunto de individuos procedentes de distintos sitios de la  Provincia de San Juan, depositados en el Museo de La Plata y Museo Etnográfico "J.B. Ambrosetti". Se registraron puntos 3D en el cráneo utilizando un digitalizador Microscribe ® y se definieron seis conjuntos de datos morfométricos: cráneo completo, cara, bóveda, base, puntos dimórficos convencionales y mandíbula. Se cruzaron los conjuntos de datos morfométricos con determinaciones de sexo a partir del esqueleto pélvico y a partir del cráneo y se realizaron análisis de componentes principales para cada conjunto de datos morfométricos, clasificándolos mediante ambas determinaciones de sexo. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias en la determinación del sexo debido a que el dimorfismo sexual se expresaría de forma desigual en distintas estructuras anatómicas, siendo la cara la estructura que permite una mejor discriminación entre sexos.
