Abir Binti Abdul Rahim is a First
Class Honours degree holder in BSc
Actuarial Science from Swansea University, Wales. She also owns a Master’s degree in Actuarial Management
from CASS Business School, London
which she was then one of the 12 recipients of the Agong Scholarship Award.
She has more than 7 years working
experience in Actuarial Pricing specialising in individual life insurance
products especially Takaful. Alongside
her tasks, she is involved in the development of Insurance and Takaful Industry working closely with industry’s
associations. Today, she continues
her contribution to nation building by
championing women empowerment.
In January 2016, Abir was named Regional Leader of Leanin.org by Sheryl
Sandbergy.
Aicha Koutoub Sano is also known
as Madam Souare, is known for her
enthusiasm in serving the youth. She
was selected as a former participant of
ALLY for Future in 2017. She completed her BSc. in psychology (2016), MSc.
in public health (2018) and is currently
pursuing her PhD degree in epidemiology and biostatistics at Malaysia. She
hosted, organized and participated in
several conferences, workshops and
seminars nationally and internationally. She is the Founder and Advisor of
Psychology and Life Annual Conference from 2014 up to date. She worked
as a teacher and a content creator
at both Malaysia and the Republic of
Guinea. She is passionate about writing to inspire, thus she opened a blog
page.
Amena Rafid Moujed was born
in Baghdad in 1999. She is currently studying dentistry at university of
Baghdad. Amena has started working
in the civil society at the age of 14 by
organizing campaigns for orphans and
IDP. She has participated in a series
of social activities including providing
moral support through educational
and motivational sessions with Youth
Peer Education Network and is a distinguished speaker at Baghdad Toastmasters, she also presented Iraq as
the youngest participant in ALLY4FUTURE 2017 program and is now leading
the ventures in Iraqi Dental Students

Ayşe Böhürler graduated from Istanbul University, School of Journalism
and Public Relations. Between 1992
and 1995, she worked as the editor of
the ‘Family and Education’ section in
the magazine İzim and later in Aksiyon
magazine. She took part in the production-management of Women, Children,
Education, Documentary and Discussion Programs. She worked as the Director of Educational Culture Programs
at Kanal 7. Since 2007, she has been
producing documentaries and programs as an independent producer in
her own company. Between 2001-2012
she served as a member of AK Party
CDAC. She is the author of two books.
Prof. Edibe Sözen was graduated
from Marmara University Faculty of
Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1982. In 1984, she completed her
Master’s degree in Istanbul University,
Department of Social Structure and
Social Change. In 1989, she received
the title of doctor in the same department with her thesis titled “Social
Structure, Change and Social Identity”.
From 1991 to 1993, she worked at the
Department of Communications Arts,
University of Wisconsin. She was elected as AK Party CDAC member in 2006.
In 2007, she was elected as AK Party
Istanbul Deputy. Sozen, who carries
on her duties as the Dean of Faculty
of Communication and Deputy Rector
in Hasan Kalyoncu University, was appointed to the membership of Presidential Social Policies Council in 2018.
Emine Erdem graduated from Notre Dame de Sion French High School
and has a degree in law and a M.Sc. in
business administration from Istanbul
University. A lawyer by profession, she
is a Board Member of Erdem Holding
since 1985 and served as a Chamber
Counsel for Turkish Airlines between
1990 and 2017 until her retirement.
She is the President of KAGIDER where
she has been a Board Member since
2013. Successively, she worked as the
President of Soroptimist International
of Turkey (2008-2010), Board Member
(2013-2017) and Vice President (20152017) of Soroptimist International of
Europe and President of Soroptimist
International Convention (2015.) She is
the Vice President of SEDEFED and a
member of UNESCO Turkish National
Commission Gender Equality Monitoring Committee. She has also worked
as the Assistant Coordinator of Istanbul Women’s Platform. She speaks
French and English.
EMINE HAXHIU
DR. ESRA ALBAYRAK
DR. FADILA GRINE
Emine Haxhiu received her Bachelor’s degree in the field of economics
at Istanbul Commerce University. After, she went to London Kings College
where she was a part of Political Economy School for six months following
some lectures on the Political Economy of Emerging Markets. Currently, she is a teaching assistant at Ibn
Haldun University where she is also
continuing with her Master’s degree in
economics. She is working on how developing countries, in particular, Western Balkans countries, can enhance
their welfare and reduce poverty concentrating on the role of government
economic decision.
Dr. Esra Albayrak was born in Istanbul in 1983. She completed both her
middle and secondary education in Kadiköy İmam Hatip High School in 2000.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in
the fields of sociology and history at Indiana University, Bloomington in 2003.
She completed her Master’s degree in
sociology in 2006 at University of California, Berkeley where she also did her
PhD. She continues to carry out academic studies, particularly in the fields
of state-religion relations, democracy
and civil society affairs. She currently
serves as a Board Member at Turkish
Green Crescent Society and is married
with three children.
Dr. Fadila Grine is the Senior advisor to the president of ICYF Islamic
Cooperation Youth Forum, Istanbul,
Turkey. She was previously the Director of Family and Social Affairs at the
Department of Humanitarian, Cultural
and Social at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a member of the
OIC Council of Muslim Women. Previously, while a Visiting Associate Professor to the Department of Islamic
History and Civilization, University of
Malaya, Malaysia, she served as Head
of Research and also the Head the International Bureau of Consultancy and
Training. Fadila obtained her Masters
from IIUM and her PhD in Islamic Culture and Civilization from the Academy
of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. She is a member of a number of
international committees, boards and
panels on women and family, and has
engaged extensively with youth work
and development.

Dr. Faruk Cengiz Tekindağ has
33 years of professional experience
through project finance and financial
services in banking sector project
management and PCM methodologies. He has extensive experience in
technical assistance/cooperation program development and implementation, preparation and evaluation of investment projects. He has Bachelor’s
degree in economics, Master’s degree
in accounting and finance, and PhD
degree in accounting. He has been involved in several technical assistance
programme funded by the local and
international donor institutions. He
has been working for WYG Turkey for
10 years and since 2016, he has been
acting as a Regional Managing Director for MENA and CIS countries.
Fatima Zibouh graduated from the
Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)
with a Master’s degree in political science and has an advanced Master’s
degree in human rights from the Universite Catholique de Louvain (UCL)
and Saint-Louis. Since March 2007,
she has been a researcher for the Centre for Ethnic and Migration Studies
at University of Liege. She is currently finishing her PhD on political and
sociological sciences at Universite de
Liege (ULg). The topic of her doctoral
research is about art, urban culture
and ethnicity. She was also awarded
the Observatory of Cultural Policies
Prize in 2014, and she also received
the Diwan Award for Personality of the
Year in 2014. In 2019, she co-founded
W100, a community of diverse women
from all corners of Brussels wishing
to connect and amplify the voices and
actions of women in the city.
Prof. Gülnur Aybet is Senior Advisor to the President of the Republic of
Turkey and Professor of International
Relations at Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul. She was former Head of
Department of Political Science and
International Relations and Founding
Director of BAUCESS, Centre for Security Studies at Bahçeşehir University.
In 2013, she founded the International Relations Department at Ozyegin
University, Istanbul. She held academic posts at the University of Kent
(England) between 2001-2013 (where
she created and directed the first MA
programme in International Security),
the University of Nottingham (England)
and Bilkent University (Ankara). She is
the author of the book titled “A European Security Architeture After the Cold
War: Questions of Legitimacy”
DR. HALİT YEREBAKAN
ASSOC. PROF. HASAN BASRİ YALÇIN
PROF. HATİCE FERHAN ODABAŞI
Dr. Halit Yerebakan graduated from Istanbul Science University,
School of Medicine in 2006. He started to dream of being a cardiovascular
surgeon in the first year he entered the
Faculty of Medicine, and devoted himself to academic advancement in this
branch during the whole education period. He entered the Medical Specialty
Examination in 2007 and he won the
Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine
Hospital and Vascular Surgery Department at his first try. He is still actively
working as a cardiovascular surgeon.
He is also working on health communication in order to improve health
literacy. His biggest dream is to support the future of young people in our
society and to strengthen the scientific
infrastructure in our country.
Assoc. Prof. Hasan Basri Yalçın
received his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations Department from
Beykent University. He get his Master’s degree at Koç University and PhD
at University of Cincinnati, USA. He is
a faculty member at the Department
of Political Science and International
Relations at Istanbul Commerce University. His research interests include
international relations theory, international security, strategy, NATO and
philosophy of social sciences. He is the
Director of Strategic Studies at SETA
Foundation. He also writes as a columnist for Sabah newspaper.
Prof. Hatice Ferhan Odabaşı was
born in 1957 in Kayseri. She graduated
from English Linguistics Department,
Hacettepe University in 1980. She received her Master’s degree in English
language education at Anadolu University in 1989 and PhD in Technology
Education in 1994. She is currently a
faculty member at Anadolu University,
Department of Computer Education
and Instructional Technology. She has
worked as an executive, researcher
and consultant in many international
and national projects. Her areas of interest are technology and social transformations, the Internet, children and
family and the professional development of higher education of educators.

DR. HİLMİ DEMİR
Hatice Özdemir Tülün graduated
from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Boğaziçi University. She is the founder of the food
blog “Orange Tree”. She worked as the
general manager of TRT Children’s
Magazine and as the editor-in-chief
of Lokma magazine. In 2011, she published “The Best Dishes of Orange Tree
for Mothers and Daughters”. She has
also written a children’s book called
“The Most Ordinary Tree in the Forest”.
Hikmet Barutçugil began his education in the field of textiles at State
Academy of Fine Arts, High School of
Industrial Applied Arts in 1973. He
graduated from the Academy in 1977.
He committed himself to relentless
research on paper marbling in London, where he stayed to enhance his
expertise between 1978 and 1981. He
was later recognized as the first artist
to discover a new paper marbling technique called Barut Marbling in 1988.
He has opened or participated in more
than 246 exhibitions. His works can be
seen in many museums, including the
British Museum (London, UK). He has
published twenty-four booksand currently is a lecturer at the Department
of Traditional Turkish Arts, Mimar
Sinan University of Fine Arts.
Prof. Hilmi Demir graduated from
School of Divinity, Ankara University.
In 2001, he received PhD in the field of
Kalam from the Social Sciences Department, Ankara University. In 20022003, he worked at Kyrgyzstan National University. He is currently teaching
at the Hitit University School of Divinity
and TOBB ETU School of History. He is
also a consultant to the Area Studies
Program of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV).
He is an expert on radicalization, Salafism, sectarian conflict and ISIS, and
has written widely on these topics in
national and international outlets.
İHSAN ATAÖV
PROF. İLHAN İLKILIÇ
KÜBRA BAYRAKTAR
İhsan Ataöv was born in 1979 in
Antalya. He graduated from Gazi University, Department of International
Relations in 2004. Between 2006 and
2007, he completed Marketing and
Professional Correspondence Techniques diploma programs at CDA College, Canada. He served as a Protocol
Specialist in the Department of Protocol at the Cankaya Presidential Palace
and Beştepe Presidential Complex in
2009-2015. During his tenure at the
Presidency, he travelled to 40 different
countries as official protocol officer.
He has also participated in the organization and execution of official visits, ceremonies and openings. He has
been giving trainings in his own consulting firm (İhsan Ataöv Consultancy,
Organization and Training Services)
since May 2015.
Prof. İlhan İlkılıç completed his
MD in 1990 from Cerrahpaşa Medical
Faculty of İstanbul University. He studied philosophy, Islamic sciences and
Oriental philology at the Ruhr-University Bochum and the Tubingen University, Germany. He did his Philosophical
Doctoral thesis at the Ruhr University
Bochum and the Tubingen University.
He was lecturer at the Institute for History, Philosophy and Ethics of Medicine
at the Johannes Gutenberg University
of Mainz Medical Center (2005-2012).
He is the first Turkish member of German Ethics Council since 2008. He
was director of Institute for Health Sciences of the Istanbul University (20162019) and he is currently Professor and
Chair of the Department of History of
Medicine and Ethics at the Istanbul
University Faculty of Medicine.
Kübra Bayraktar established the
Zemin Istanbul Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in 2018. She was
the director of Zemin Istanbul Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
Zemin Istanbul offers an opportunity
for its users to show their talents and
benefit from the solutions of modern
information and communication technologies. She was a leader in the field
of in-house entrepreneurship in IMM.
She also prepared the dictionary of innovation terms. In 2014, she won the
title of female leader in IDC-Womens
in Turkey Technology Sector event.
Currently, Kübra Bayraktar provides
consulting service in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation.

PROF. MEHMET EMİN BİRPINAR
Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş is a former Belgian politician and currently
Turkey’s Ambassador to Algeria. She
was a member of the Parliament of the
Brussels Capital Region serving 2 full
terms between 2009-2019. She is well
known for being the first Member of
Parliament to wear the hijab in Europe.
Her expertise lies in education, women’s rights and equal opportunities.
She is renown in Europe as a powerful
voice against Islamophobia and a leading advocate for minority rights. Mahinur Özdemir was recently appointed as
Turkey’s Ambassador to Algeria. She
is also a member of the Organisation
of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Women
Consultative Council. Furthermore,
she has been awarded the honorary
title of Chevalier de l’Ordre de Leopold by King Philippe of Belgium for her
contribution and service to society. She
is married and has two children.
Prof. Mahmut Erol Kılıç studied
at the Faculty of Political Sciences. In
1988, he started to work as an assistant in Marmara University, Department of Islamic Philosophy and wrote
his Master’s thesis “Hermes and Hermetic Thought in the Light of Islamic
Sources”. He defended his thesis titled
“The Existence and Order in Ibn Arabi”, which is considered the first PhD
thesis in the Department of Sufism.
He published articles about his field
in many encyclopedias and journals
in Turkish and foreign languages. He
presented papers at national and international conferences centered on

Prof. Mim Kemâl Öke was born
in 1955 to a family with Central Asian
Uyghur lineage. Receiving high school
education at Robert College and higher education in economics and history
at Cambridge University, Öke became
a Professor at Boğaziçi University. He
attended official meetings abroad on
behalf of Turkish Foreign Ministry. He
won various awards for cultural and
scientific studies. Over the last years,
Oke has gravitated towards human
sciences in his quest to understand
mankind, which mainly rests in Sufi
philosophy. Towards his social awareness, Öke offers rhythm/folk dance
classes to specially-gifted children and
individuals.
Miraç Tapan is Lifestyle editor at
Daily Sabah which is an Istanbul-based
English daily newspaper. Hailing from
İzmir, Turkey, Tapan graduated from
Hacettepe University’s Department of

strategies. She previously worked with
the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Indonesia, also engaged with Muslim leaders to create climate resiliency plans.

Prof. Recep Şentürk completed his

pursued his PhD in sociology at Columbia University, New York (1998). Between
1998 and 2007 he was researcher at the

coordinator of the Istanbul Research and
Education Association (İSAR) in Istanbul
for seven years (2009-2016). Currently,

Atlanta (2002-2003). He continued his research on human rights as a guest of the

Selma Öztürk Pınar was born in
1978 in Hannover. She is a German
Lawyer, who completed the Faculty
of Law at the University of Hannover
in 2006. Since 2013 she works at the
Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University in
the Department of Human Rights and
Islamic Law. She lectures on International Law of Human Rights, Case
Law of the European Court of Human
Rights, Introduction to Islamic Law
and Introduction to German Legal Language. She writes her doctoral thesis
on the topic “Compatibility of Human
Rights in Islamic Law and in the International Law”. She was also nominated as a judge at the European Court
of Human Rights in Strasbourg by the
Turkish State. She lives in Ankara and
Hannover.
Serdar Kabukçuoğlu is a business
graduate with a Master’s Degree in
Finance. He has more than 30 years
experience on development banking,
project finance, project appraisal,
loan evaluation, funding and strategic
planning at technical and managerial
levels. He has served as a member of
executive boards and audit committees in several different companies.
He lectures on project evaluation, loan
evaluation, project cycle management,
entrepreneurship and start-ups, equity
finance, international fund structures
and financial strategies at Yıldırım
Beyazıt and Başkent universities. He

Sultan Işık was born in İstanbul.
She graduated from George Mason
University, Washington, DC in 2010. She
had a BA degree in Psychology and a
minor degree in Global Affairs. In 2013,
she received her MA degree in Cultural
Studies from Istanbul Şehir University
and worked as an assistant at İstanbul
Şehir University between 2010 and 2012.
Then, she worked as managing editor
at Lacivert Dergi (monthly magazine),
between 2013 and 2015. In 2016, she
worked as clinical psychologist at MEVA
Hospital and Ümraniye Municipality.
She currently works as Deputy General
Manager at Green Crescent Society and
she is about to finish her second MA degree in Clinical Psychology. Sultan Işık
also works voluntarily as the Head of
Social Awareness and Project Commission at KADEM, and she is a member
of Green Crescent Society since 2015.
She has worked voluntarily as a social
worker and psychologist at the different
Syrian Refugee camps in Turkey.
Mrs. Sümeyra Merve Kılınç studied in University of Jordan where she

from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa
Medical Faculty in 2014. She completed courses about Climate Change and
Sustainable Development. In parallel

health and food policies.
Mrs. Kılınç is married and has two

Sümeyye Ceylan graduated with
a degree of Mathematics from the
University of Vienna. She defended
her master thesis in Fourier Analysis.
She has a second Master’s degree in
Pedagogy of Islam at the University of
Vienna. During her stay in Vienna, she
took Astronomy courses from Kuffner
Observatory in Vienna. In 2013, she
enrolled in Philosophy PhD program
at the Department of Philosophy, Istanbul Medeniyet University. Her main
academic interests are philosophy of
mathematics, logic, history of mathematics, history of logic, science-steam
education, social entrepreneurship.
After finishing her studies in Vienna,
she returned to her homeland, Turkey
in 2012. There was a growing urge inside of her to do something to change
the way of education system in Turkey.
She wanted to create a more child
friendly, child and imagination driven
education methodology. Therefore, she
established Usturlab Atölye, a company which produces contents, plays,
toys, games for children to learn and

Şadan Kaptanoğlu is a shipowner
and a shipyard owner. She is chief executive officer of Kaptanoglu Shipping.

Shipping,Finance and Trade. On 14th of
May 2019 at the BIMCO General Meeting in Athens, Şadan was elected as
President of BIMCO thereby becoming
the first woman to reach that position.
Şadan Kaptanoğlu is the chairperson
of TURMEPA and vice president of INTERMEPA. She is vice chairperson of
Turkish Chamber of Shipping as well.
Şadan is the first winner of Seatrade

Dr. Şule Albayrak is Assistant
Professor at Faculty of Theology of
Marmara University, Faculty of Theology. She received her PhD from the
Institute of Social Sciences of Marmara
University. Albayrak gives lectures on
sociology of religion, secularisation,
modernization, Islam in the modern
world and religion-state relations. She
specializes in secularism, state-religion relations and religious education.
She is also interested in fundamentalism in the USA, Muslim immigrants

is the author of the book “Christian
Fundamentalism” and the chief editor

Şule Güner is a journalist with
special expertise on artificial intelligence and robotics, the only one in the
Turkish media. She has been covering

Prof. Toker Ergüder is a Turkish
medical doctor, specialized in Public

has been working at the WHO Country
Office in Turkey. He managed WHO tobacco control activities at country level. Before joining the WHO, he worked
as Director of Tobacco Control Department of Ministry of Health of Turkey between 2002 and 2007. He also

Yücel Arzen was born in 1970 in
Adana. After completing his primary
and secondary education in Adana, he
went to Çukurova University, Faculty
of Education, Department of Painting
and Sculpture for one year. In 1988, he
entered the ITU Turkish Music State
Conservatory. During the conservatory, he took lessons in both traditional Turkish music and folk music and
universal music forms. In 1994, he
entered masters program in Istanbul
Technical University, at the Turkish
Folk Music department. His compositions that were published in the form of
song (nearly 150) have been performed
by popular Turkish music commentators. The composer has three personal
and one duet albums and still lives in
Istanbul.
Prof. Zaleha Kamarudin is a Professor of Law at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation, International Islamic University
Malaysia specializing in Comparative
Family Laws and Islam & Gender. In
2011, She was appointed as the first
female rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia, making her
the first woman to head an Islamic
university in the Muslim world. She is
also the first woman to be appointed
as a Shariah Appellate Court Judge in
Malaysia. She sat on several Technical
Committees drafting of model laws relating to protection of women’s rights.
Currently, she is a member of the OIC

finance, development aid. She has been
