ABSTRACT Megacities citizens suffer with air pollution which affects their health and quality of life. To provide more reliable regional emissions and climate change scenarios for South America, and to implement a regionally coordinated chemical weather forecast tools are key-objectives of the ongoing South American Emissions, Mega -cities and climate (SAEMC) project.

ABSTRACT This paper gives an overview of SAEMC (South American Emissions, Megacities and Climate) project cyberinfrastructure. This cyberinfrastructure consists of a set of High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, situated in Chile and Brazil and interconnected by Grid Technology (gLite). As obtaining computing resource allocation, connecting from the command line of each computational or storage resource, setting up individual codes and environments, bringing together the tools and finding the best resources to accomplish their research goals are not easy tasks. An important feature to broadening the participation in grid computing is providing easy access mechanisms and user interfaces, to allow a wide range of users with different computer skills to access the computational and data resources. So, the most important feature is the GUI (Graphical User Interface) to SAEMC team. It connects users to chemical and weather numerical model (CATT-BRAMS - Coupled Aerosol and Tracers Transport model to the Brazilian developments on the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System) that runs on clusters. This GUI uses the latest JAVA technologies, offering facilities to users to interact with interfaces for job submission, management and data presentation. It is expect scientific advances of the SAEMC project researchers by linking them under a common computational framework.
