Delhi : Purani Dastaan2013 •
Reading any city as text is a challenge. we have tried to delve into some of the most striking aspects of Delhi. Some of us studied old Delhi and its historical significance. We documented how certain traditional practices and customs still resonate within the bylanes of Old Delhi, making it a rich depository of history, while simultaneously connecting it with the new metropolis. others from our team studied the effects of partition. They came across several striking revelations about the hardships of refugees who influence the city socially, culturally, economically, and politically. From the perspective of viewing Delhi as a melting pot, some of us did our research on migrants and how they have come to define and contribute to the culture of the city. The independent music industry and its presence in the city, which is a part of the new idea of entertainment, drew the attention of some of our team. We explored the various music festivals to document the shift from the pre-existing music industry which was predominantly Bollywood music, to a new, independent music scene. Cinema was yet another aspect of the cultural life of the city that we examined. Our research focused on how cinema halls in Delhi encode the changing trends, which eventually led to the emergence of a new kind of cinema with the coming multiplexes. Two events: the Asian games of 1982, and the Commonwealth games of 2010, which radically altered the design and plan of Delhi and transformed it into a world-class city were explored by some students, keeping in mind the original architectural plan of the city.

Urban Nightscape and Issues of Gender in Call Centre Industry in India2014 •
Women in India were always accepted in conventional profiles of nurses, teachers, secretaries or clerks. But today, against this phenomenon a large number of women are joining call centres. In a transnational call centre, work during day time is very rare and typically starts in late evening hours. This comes into contrast with traditional gender roles of women as mother, wife or care taker within the family. Indian society, with all its diversities, remains traditional patriarchal system. As women enter the global labor pool, particularly its nightscape, they experience negative gender based reactions like “what these women are doing in the night?” or “why are they out of their places for so late?” which are generally given to prostitutes or bar dancers. These kinds of reactions or comments provide a context for thinking about women’s access to night shift employment opportunities. Against this background I have made an attempt to study and analyse how does their family relate themselves to their work? How they negotiate their gendered identity and whether call centre industry in context of night shift employment is better suited for women professionals? Thus, it would be useful to look into the new image of women in India “breaking of stereotypes” and working in non-traditional sector of employment.

Il Santuario di S. Maria delle Grazie a Bevagna: un foglio di disegni sconosciuti2024 •
This is the second of a two-part study of the church of S. Maria delle Grazie a Bevagna that publishes and analyses a series of previously unknown centralised project drawings for the church. It goes on to explore the reasons for the abandonment of the architect proposal of a centralised scheme in favour of a lognitudinal one. It argues that the patrons privileged the idea of visibility of the facade over a more pleasing symmetrical plan in order to enable the facade to be seen from almost any position in the main street of the town that lies below. The patrons were even prepared to pay for the the land in front of the church to be significantly built up to allow the building to be seen from the ideal viewpoint. It goes on to suggest that the visibility of the church was deemed important because of the reassurance that it provided to the townsfolk that the miracle-working image of the Virgin Mary housed inside was looking down on them protectively.
