The Covid-19 pandemic's handling was not merely a health problem but created a discourse battle in the social media space. The policies decided by the central and local governments often provoke public reactions in the form of criticism to hate speech. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has one of the governments figures whose policies have often been attacked by criticism and hate speech. This study aimed at analyzing the trend of Anies Baswedan's phrases. The phrases related to the handling of COVID-19 in netizen conversations in the Twitter space and collecting patterns of hate speech about Anies Baswedan in pro-government and contra-government accounts connected with the policies of handling COVID-19. This study used a virtual ethnography method against hate speech involving written verbal messages and communication objectives from Twitter users (influencers) who commented on Anies Baswedan's policies in dealing with Covid-19. The captured data come from two groups of accounts, namely government supporter and opposition. Data exploration used https://exportcomments.com/ software for comments, while trend data and public psychology (sentiment and perception) used Intelligence Socio-analytics (ISA) from March-August 2020. Data were taken from 42,393 total replies and 1,010,007 total posts for ISA. Qualitative data processing used Nvivo 12 plus to arrange phrases and speech patterns. The result showed that Anies Baswedan associated with COVID-19 had significantly increased since march 2020 and decreased in the following months. The tweets about Anies Baswedan had built public psychology in anticipatory emotions and anger, neutral and positive sentiments. The majority public's perception of Anies Baswedan is disgusting. Pro-government accounts had made Anies Baswedan the theme of conversation in their tweets. The narrative that was built was to criticize and or belittle the governor's policies and actions. Tweets with harmful contents (insulting, condescending, disgusting, swearing, and accusations) were the dominant model, triggering replies in the same pattern, but with more crude, ironic, innocent satirical content using nouns or animal names and other, more sarcastic terms. © 2021. Studies of corruptors have been widely conducted, but how do they after leaving prison and why corruption cases continue to increase, the process of re-adaptation in the community environment after being in prison is a phenomenon that can be studied through a communication approach by reviewing four points that need more attention: first, how do former prisoners define their world after being released from the correctional facility; second, how is the adaptation process of former prisoners; third, how the communication strategy that conducted after living in prison, fourth, how the changing of impression management of former prisoners after enjoying their freedom or return from prison. This research used qualitative approach with phenomenology method. Basically phenomenology is a research tradition that is used to explore human experience. In this context there is an assumption that humans actively understand the world around them as an experience of their life and actively interpret the experience. The main assumption of phenomenology is that humans actively interpret their experiences by giving meaning to their experience. Therefore, interpretation is an active process to give meaning to something experienced by humans. In other words, understanding is a creative act, which is an action towards meaning. The results showed that the former prisoners defined their world after being released from the correctional facility, felt that they were not guilty, they trapped by the system and trapped by their colleagues, some of them also have reason because they were defending their subordinates. They adapted through closeness with their families and neighbors who are relatively unconcerned and tend to avoid interacting with old friends who are seen as having different directions. They accepted the negative self-definition (labeling) as an effort to improve themselves through a new role as a member of society and the desire to prove that in fact, they are innocent. They take on new roles in society and still have loyal followers so they don't feel anything wrong with the punishment they experienced. The impression management that is built to form a new image and try to make up for the mistakes of their past. The suggestion of this research is that there is a synergistic effort for the prevention and deterrent effect on former corruptors and those who intend to corrupt through an education to the public on how to treat ex-corruptors, by providing a kind of social sanctions such as conducting social activities by the corruptors.

This study seeks to reveal how the Garda Caah community as citizens in the Citarum River Basin is able to decide and be responsible for their ideas, decisions and actions in the face of flooding. This study uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. The data collection techniques are carried out by interviews, focus group discussions and observations. The findings resulted resilience the communities around the Citarum watershed are realized by forming the Garda Caah Community, which in their work projects seeks to minimize the effects of flooding by sharing information about possible flooding. Approaching the free trade era, the marketing of the national cosmetic products has made breakthroughs and innovation in order to compete with foreign products. The intense competition in attracting customers has forced advertisers to use a strategy of advertising techniques such as focusing on a problem that only their products can solve, including Wardah, a cosmetic that labels itself as halal cosmetic product. This study has tried to analyze visual and linguistic signs in halal cosmetic advertising, particularly in the use of metadiscourse markers to find out how advertising text makers expresses their attitude towards their readers and the advertisement text they have made, hence able to guide the readers in understanding the text that suits the wishes of the manufacturer of the product advertised. This study has adopted the framework of Cheong to analyze print advertisement by studying both the visual and linguistic elements working together to form meanings. Moreover, to analyze the linguistic signs in the form of metadiscourse markers, Hyland’s theory was used. This is a qualitative study with discourse analysis method through the use of multimodal. The results showed that the use of interpersonal meta discourse markers are dominant in two Indonesian halal cosmetics advertisement. The use of metadiscourse markers were coupled with visual signs of the advertisement, generating the ideology promoted by the halal cosmetics advertisement.

ABSTRACT Abstract- The penetration of television in Indonesia about three C’s (Conflicts, Corruptions and Crimes) are worrying. It can be seen from the height of television presenting it. Likewise, the dissemination through the internet on various sites like www.vivanews.com and the www.okezone.com that provide information quickly. This situation raises concern about the effect on children. They have a vulnerable position in the internalization values of personality and wrong character development. This includes the character of patrotism and nationalism. Television and internet have an influence toward shaping children's perception about the state and patriotism. This research explains the influence of television news about social conflicts, corruptions and criminality toward children’s perceptions of integrity and love of motherland. The method used is a survey research explanative of eight schools in two provinces namely West Java, Indonesia. Total samples are 420 children. Hypothesis testing is done by r test correlation, t test and linier regression with a confidence level of p = 0.05. The results turned out surprisingly. Media showed the opposite effect, that the penetration of the media about the conflicts, crimes and corruptions growing love of the motherland. Children increasingly sympathetic, concerned and loving their country. It is seen from the following results: Use of the internet presenting news about conflicts, crimes, and criminality correlated positively with the love of the motherland. Exemplary values on television and the Internet correlates with the love of the motherland. This article discusses hate speech on Facebook from two groups of supporters for the presidential candidates in the 2019 Presidential Election in Indonesia. The study used a virtual ethnography approach to analyze cultural groups or communities through their conversations on the Facebook platform. Data collection was conducted by observing and collecting words, phrases, and sentences in the Official Facebook account of two presidential candidates in the 2019 Presidential Election and statements of both presidential and vice-presidential candidates in 2019. In addition, researchers also observed three voluntary group accounts for each candidate. Therefore, the total number of accounts observed was eight. Data was analysed with Nvivo 12+ to obtain statistics on the strength of the chosen speech word and the dominant phrase or word that appears. This study is a daily experience of a life phenomenon. In this paper, we present how the self-concept of street children’s mothers, who earn a living by allowing their children to work as beggars or street singers at the crossroads in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It used a qualitative approach with phenomenological method to explore the self-concept of street children’s mothers. The data was obtained through observation and interview with selected respondent, namely the mothers who have children in the 6 to 10 age group and who earn a living on the street and provide financial support for their family. The results suggested that the mothers of street children feel like their life is always underprivileged, causing unsatisfactory feeling in their own selves. It is considered as a fair occurrence when their children work on the streets, even though the mothers realize that such phenomenon is not right, nor suitable for children. This study examines the ethnography studies of communication with HIV-infected children at Rumah Cemara Bandung by reviewing the elements of communication components. This research uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic type of communication study. The research subjects were children infected with HIV in Bandung who was selected using the purposive method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, document analysis, and literature study. The results revealed that the genre in the communication component of children infected with HIV at Rumah Cemara was seen in the delivery of problems, namely the presence of viral infections in children. The setting that occurs in the communication component is carried out at the child's home/residence and Rumah Cemara as a community location and Klinik Teratai, Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung.
