Daniel Teruggi studied Physics, composition and piano in Argentina. In 1977 he came to France where he studied at the Paris National Conservatory. In 1981, he starts working at INA (National Audiovisual Institute), at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM). In 1997 he become Director of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, position he kept until 2017. From October 2001 to 2016 he also directed the Research and Experimentation Department in INA.
He has been active in musical and audiovisual research and regularly composing new musical works. In recent years he has been actively working on the preservation of audiovisual collections and particularly the domain of electroacoustic music, where traditional models of conservation are not effective. He has been the coordinator of the FP6 European project PrestoSpace as well as the FP7 European project PrestoPRIME and participated in the Europeana project. He is a founding member of the Electroacoustic Musical Studies network (http://www.ems-network.org/), in charge of an annual conference on electroacoustic music analysis.
He has composed more than 80 works, mainly for the concert; using electroacoustic devices in acousmatic situations or with live instruments. He is the author of numerous research articles on the sound and perception of music or musical analysis. His music has been performed in more than 30 countries and published in various collections. He is a founding member of the EMS (Electroacoustic Musical Studies) network.
Doctor in Art and Technology at the University of Paris VIII, he developed an important educational activity at the Paris I University, around sound and the visual arts, Paris IV Sorbonne around the analysis of electroacoustic music and more recently with Paris Est University, Marne la Vallée, where he was responsible for the Acousmatic and Sound Arts Master. He has been visiting professor at the Universities of Hertfordshire (England), University TU Berlin, 3 of Febrero (Argentina), and SMUC of Barcelona. In 2016, he received the "SMPTE Archival Technology Medal Award" for his efforts in the preservation of audiovisual content, especially music.edit

The ambition of Europeana is to make European cultural content accessible through its portal, providing a unique access point where any kind of media is represented. It is oriented towards the general public but also to professionals and scholars. The user perspective is then essential for the success and acceptation of the project. How can this feedback be obtained; do users expect something specific? Are they really looking for something or just wandering around? Independently from traditional statistic and survey actions, it is important to obtain the perception users have of Europeana and to thus structure and orient a portal that represents a new way of accessing culture.

The Ina-GRM i is one of the oldest and most important Groups in electroacoustic music. As a research group concerned with creation, technological research and aesthetic problems, it has accumulated through its long history an important amount of works and documents, which have been brought together in a library called the "Acousmathèque". This conservation centre has been concerned with preservation and restoration problems since its first years, mainly due to the technology changes through time. A brief overview of the problems encountered and its future developments are studied here.

From the outset, Dutch electronic music has found itself in between the two principal European trends in this field, namely the French musique concrète introduced at the French Radio in 1948, and the German elektronische Musik which emerged from 1951 onwards at the Cologne broadcast station. Although electronic music had incidentally been made in Dutch radio studios since 1952, this was not yet in the context of a purpose-built studio as was the case in Germany and France. The first real Dutch studio for electronic music was created only in 1956, and then not by a broadcasting company but, remarkably enough, by the acoustics department of Philips Research Laboratories. Although electronic music played no more than a marginal role in the corporate history of Philips, the present research reveals, conversely, that Philips has been of great significance for the genesis of Dutch electronic music. The presentation of the research in this volume comprises three chapters. The first describ...
