- My lab at the University of Bergen studies the molecular biology of protein N-terminal acetylation and N-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs).Our goals range from defining the molecular mechanisms of N-terminal acetylation to establishing the links between NAT-defects or NAT-overexpression and diseases like cancer and rare syndromes. We have defined the entire machinery in human cells responsible for N-terminal acetylation, revealed the importance of NatA for cancer cell survival, and identified the first genetic disorders caused by NAT-mutations.edit
