In this paper, a bioinspired method in the magnetic field memory of the bees, applied in a rover of precision pollination, is presented. The method calculates sharpness features by entropy and variance of the Laplacian of images segmented by color in the HSV system in real-time. A complementary positioning method based on area feature extraction between active markers was developed, analyzing color characteristics, noise, and vibrations of the probe in time and frequency, through the lateral image of the probe. From the observed results, it can be seen that the unsupervised method does not require previous calibration of target dimensions, histogram, and distances involved in positioning. The algorithm showed less sensitivity in the extraction of sharpness characteristics regarding the number of edges and greater sensitivity to the gradient, allowing unforeseen operation scenarios, even in small sharpness variations, and robust response to variance local, temporal, and geophysical o...

Proposal techniques that reduce financial costs in the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases are welcome. This work uses some machine learning techniques to classify whether or not cases of canine visceral leishmaniasis are present by physical examinations. For validation of the method, four machine learning models were chosen: K-nearest neighbor, Naïve Bayes, support vector machine and logistic regression models. The tests were performed on three hundred and forty dogs, using eighteen characteristics of the animal and the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) serological test as validation. Logistic regression achieved the best metrics: Accuracy of 75%, sensitivity of 84%, specificity of 67%, a positive likelihood ratio of 2.53 and a negative likelihood ratio of 0.23, showing a positive relationship in the evaluation between the true positives and rejecting the cases of false negatives.

In this work, it is proposed the development a new monopole directional antenna, bioinspired in elliptical leaf, with cut by golden ratio, for 4G band application, by the use of the technique of the cut of the radiating element for the increasing of the antenna perimeter, being the first work to use this technique in a bioinspired antenna, promotes resonance frequency turned, and reconfiguring of the antenna parameters as bandwidth, radiation pattern and gain, with the use of the reflector near to the group plane, without the insertion of active devices as the pin diode or change in radiating element. The shape antenna is generated by Gielis formula, built in FR4 substrate, with cuts calculated by golden ratio. To compare the results of the bioinspired monopole on the elliptical sheet, a squareshaped monopole antenna was designed, simulated and measured, the structures were designed in the MATLAB software version 2015(b) and the simulations were performed in the Ansys software version 2016. In the results compared between the square monopole and the bioinspired antenna in the elliptical sheet, it can be seen that the measured bioinspired antenna, compared to the square monopole, presented a bandwidth reduction of 77.27%, a more compact structure, with a reduction of 98%, covering the wireless local area network, and long-time evolution 4G at 2.5 GHz. The proposed technique uses a reflector on the ground plane, to change the parameters of the monopole planar antenna, of omnidirectional radiation pattern to a directional, maintaining the characteristics of the broadband, half-power beamwidth great than 100°, with high current density, and similar gain of a directional antenna. From the results, it has been observed that the elliptical leaf monopole antenna shows broadband characteristics, with a half-power beamwidth of 128°, wideband, the bandwidth of 500 MHz, a gain of 6.28 dBi, a current density of 13.01 A/m 2 , and circular polarization.

This work presents an alternative method of getting tracking, and the impact point of the actual flight of a rocket, by telemetry data and slant-range device. The tracking and impact point data were obtained from an actual flight path by merging the angular components of a telemetry antenna (Azimuth, and Elevation) and the radial distance information provided by the slant-range device. The position components were analyzed with the telemetry antenna in automatic mode, target tracking, comparing with the tracking results performed by the radar. The result obtained by the composition of the coordinates of the telemetry/slant-range set, it was observed that the point of impact generated by this group had a distance of 237.64 (meters), in relation to the impact generated by the tracking of the radar. Indicating a significant reduction of the search area and can be used as na alternative form of use. It allows you to provide additional location information for payload recovery around the actual point of impact.

A flower-shape bio-inspired aperture-coupled antenna array for on-chip application, generated by Gielis formula, operating in industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band at 60 GHz (57 GHZ to 64 GHz) is presented in this paper. The antenna proposed is composed of a transmission feed line followed by an aperture and patch element simulated in aluminum, with 2 micrometers of thickness, lying on two layers of silicon with 200 micrometers of thickness each. Dimensions of the antennas were calculated according to the effective wavelength for the resonance frequency at 60 GHz. Simulations were performed in the commercial software ANSYS® Electronics Desktop. The use of the bio-inspired flower-shape promotes more compact structures with greater perimeter, rearranging these shapes into an antenna array provided a gain and a bandwidth increase in the design, 3.11dBi and 2.86GHz, respectively, which resulted in a maximum gain of 8.82 dBi and a total bandwidth of 5.88 GHz. Index Terms-On-chip, aperture-coupled antenna array, bio-inspired flower-shape, industrial scientific and medical band.

In this paper, a biologically inspired design methodology to develop directional leaf-shaped printed monopole antennas (PMA) for applications in the fourth-generation (4G) of mobile telecommunications technology is presented. Bio-inspired in the leaf shapes of a sugar cane plant, compact directional PMA are designed (with partial ground planes and flat rectangular reflectors) to cover the Brazilian 4G 700 MHz regulated band (698-806 MHz), with broadside radiation patterns and maximum directive gain up to 7.7 dBi. Simulated and measured results are presented for the proposed leaf-shaped antenna prototypes, and obtained results are compared with a square PMA. The use of bio-inspired leaf-shaped radiators and flat reflectors provides a fine tuning of ultra-wideband commonly presented by a conventional PMA, and the lowest resonant mode can be adjusted to cover the 700 MHz band.

This paper presents the characterization of dielectric properties (dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss factor) of Tommy Atkins mango (Mangifera indica L), a fruit produced in several regions of Brazil, of great economic importance. The fruits were characterized according to their maturation index, by probe method, and identified by the yellowish tone in their bark. The results allowed correlating the dielectric characteristics of the fruit with the physicochemical transformations that occurred in the maturation process of the mango Tommy. It was also verified a greater variation in the frequencies below 1 GHz, with the maturation indicated by the dielectric signature on the fifth day after the harvest. From these results, we can observe the use of electromagnetic materials and techniques in the solution and optimization of processes in agriculture can improve the quality of products consumed or suggesting best practices to the productive sector.

This work proposes the use of microwaves in the processing of babassu coconut peeling. The babassu is a palm tree, originating from the biomes of the Amazon, Atlantic Forest, and Cerrado covering over twenty-five million hectares, with impact financial, social, and ecological in the life of more the three hundred thousand local families from North, Northeast, and Midwest regions of Brazil. The workers of Babassu coconut the overwhelming majority of cases are women. These women are active in the breaking, processing, and commercial of the product, with low productivity and efficiency. From the use of electromagnetic waves in the process of peeling coconut, it is possible to increase productivity with better use of the peel and epicarp of the fruit, which has an economic value in the production of a nutritious flour marketed in several localities. The advantage in using microwaves is the reduction of the ductility of the epicarp of babassu, to the point of breaking it with your hands, something which requires over twenty tons of force per square inch in the fruit in nature. For the tests performed, the best results were two 180-second periods, with a 30second rest, at the highest power of the magnetron. From the results, it can be considered that the process can be used for the processing of the fruit with better use of its parts, improving productivity.

Due to the recent miniaturization of wireless devices, the use of wearable antennas is steadily increasing. A wearable antenna is intended to be a part of the clothing used for communication purposes. In this way, a lower visual cost may be achieved. Recently, biologically inspired design, a kind of design by cross-domain analogy is a promising paradigm for innovation as well as low visual cost. The shapes of the plants are structures optimized by nature with the primary goal of light energy capture, transforming it into chemical energy. In this case, they have similar behavior to that of parabolic reflectors; this enables microwave engineers design innovative antennas using bio-inspired concepts. One of the advantages of using bio-inspired plant shapes is the design of antennas with great perimeters in compact structures. Thus, we have small antennas operating in low frequencies. This chapter presents the recent development in bio-inspired wearable antennas, easily integrated to the clothes and accessories used by the body, built in denim, low-cost flexible dielectric, and polyamide flexible dielectric, that is flexible with high resistance to twists and temperatures, for wireless body area network (WBAN) applications, operating in cellular mobile (2G, 3G, and 4G) and wireless local area network (2.4 and 5 GHz) protocols.

This paper presents the printed monopole antennas analysis with circular shapes bioinspired in jasmine flower for applications in ultra-wide band (3.1-10.6 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). The use of different sizes of petals allows changing the antenna perimeter without variation in antenna size and consequently the resonance frequency and bandwidth also are changed. Comparing to the conventional circular geometry, the proposed bio-inspired antennas had presented radius reduction of 11.30%. Measures achieved by definition of petals length of 7 mm demonstrate that the antenna operates in X-Band, with a maximum gain of 6.02 dBi in broadside direction and a HPBW of 138 degrees. The measured results of bio-inspired antenna in the jasmine flower showed compatibility with the parameters required by the FCC for UWB technology. It obtained bandwidth of 9.75 GHz, half power bandwidth of 148 degrees, omnidirectional radiation pattern, gain of 5.99 dBi, power spectral density below 41.3 dBm across the bandwidth of UWB technology, small pulse distortion, and constant group delay, with variations of less than 2ns.

This paper presents Koch fractal aperture-coupled patch antennas operating in industrial scientific and medical band at 60 GHz (57 GHz to 64 GHz), for on-chip application. This work is the continuation of the development of aperturecoupled antennas with aperture and patch element built in 2 µmthick aluminum lying on two layers of silicon with a height of 200 µm. The use of Koch fractal allowed the development of aperture-coupled antennas of greater perimeter with more metal in the patch elements, which promoted an increase in the gain. The observed gain for Koch fractal level 2 was of 10.55 dBi, with a bandwidth of 7.23 GHz, covering the ISM 60 GHz Band, and an increase of less than 10% in total patch dimension. For Koch fractal levels 0 (square), a polarization close to circular was achieved, with an axial ratio less than 6 at resonant frequencies.

The study of printed monopole antennas (PMA) with truncated ground plane has application in various types of technologies. This kind of ground plane, promotes an omnidirectional radiation pattern with broadband response and allows the antenna to suffer influence from nearby conductive material. This article presents the simulated and measured results of influences from a rectangular aluminum tube on a circular PMA that meets the lJWB technology requirements. The results obtained indicate that the tube at a wavelength distance of 1I8A reduce the bandwidth by 50% in X-band (8 12 GHz), half power bandwidth HPBW is approximately 90° and gain of 6.92 dBi.

Design of microstrip antenna arrays using dissimilar circular patch elements is presented in this paper to cover the band 2.400-2.483 GHz required in IEEE802.11b,g applications. The following antenna prototypes were designed and built: circular patch antenna, 1x2 and 1x4 arrays. Proposed arrays presented an impedance bandwidth above to 100 MHz and 1x4 array synthetizes a broadside radiation pattern with gain more than 8 dBi and front-to-back ratio greater than 20 dB.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar
o desempenho dos índices antropométricos
na predição do excesso de gordura corporal
em adolescentes. Participaram deste estudo
quadril (CQ), circunferência do pescoço (CP),
independentes, teste Mann-Whitney U para as
variáveis que não apresentarem distribuição
normal e a curva ROC para avaliar o poder
discriminatório em relação ao %GC elevado. A
(37,88%, n=228). IMC, RCE, e CQ apresentaram
maiores áreas sob Curva ROC (0,69, 0,67 e 0,66,
respectivamente), que os demais indicadores
avaliados e foram considerados como os mais
indicados para a avaliação da predição de
gordura. CP e a estatura não foram classificadas
como bons preditores de %GC elevado na
população avaliada. Diante desses resultados

valiar o consumo alimentar
e a prevalência de constipação intestinal
funcional em mulheres diagnosticadas com
fibromialgia. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo
transversal, realizado com mulheres oriundas
do Ambulatório de Dor Crônica Casa da Dor do
Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal do
Maranhão (HU-UFMA). A amostra foi composta
por 71 voluntárias portadoras de fibromialgia
com faixa etária entre 18 e 60 anos. Foram
avaliados dados antropométricos (peso e altura)
e hábitos de vida. Para avaliação do consumo
alimentar foi utilizado o Recordatório de
24 horas (R24h), e para sua adequação a
Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs). A constipação
(59,15%; n=42), não tabagista (95,78%; n=68);
não etilista (87,32%; n=62) e eutrófica (36,62%;
n=26). Das 71 mulheres pertencentes a amostra,
53,52% possuíam constipação (n=38). Destas,
28,17% (n=20) e 25,35% (n=18), apresentavam
conforme escala de Bristol, consistência de fezes
tipo 1 e 2 respectivamente. A amostra revelou alto
consumo de carboidratos e proteína e ingestão
insuficiente de fibras. Conclusão: Os hábitos
alimentares inadequados como o consumo
excessivo de alimentos ricos em carboidratos
