In the modern era, it emerges a movement wanting to reject the concept of nationalism and replace it with the idea of islamic khilāfah, since nationalism only makes humans become worse. The spirit of life is based solely on competition of hatred and evil (xenophobia). This is caused by reality, since the growing nationalism is not based on the Qur’an, but it only inherits the West. With textual and contextual analysis of the verses of nationalism, this paper presented nationalism in the perspective of Qur’an through verses about the state and nation. This paper wants to examine how nationalism is desired by Qur’an and how relevant it is to the nationalism of Indonesian people. The result, the nationalism desired by Qur’an is a spirit of nationality, not nationalism based on pride. Quranic nationalism makes the nation compete with other nations in the world in achieving common goals. This is relevant to the spirit of Indonesian nationalism, at least there are three principles matchin...

Islam is a religion of compassion. This fact is different from the majority of followers who translate it in all segments of life in a formalistic form, so that the compassionate identity of Islam is often mortgaged. Islam is exclusive with other religions and beliefs. As a result, Islam is also difficult to expand and accused of being a rigid and exclusive religion. Islam that was born and developed in the archipelago practiced by Walisongo is flexible with other beliefs. One of its practices Walisongo succeeded in taking inspiration from the Hinduism of the Hindu Nawa Dewata to become Sufistic trustees. The nine deities in Hinduism were replaced by nine saints who later became known as Walisongo. Through Walisongo's da'wah analysis Islamizing other religions, namely theological approach, games and cultural accuracy, it was found that the change in cosmology of Nawa Dewata became Walisongo because in Islam and Hinduism both contained values of compassion, compassion, and in...

Issues of violence and radicalism in Indonesia increasingly prevalent. Various acts of anarchism and terrorism seem to be mushrooming in this country that has a lot of diversity. Actions that harm the public and even the religion is not rare background against the understanding of the holy verses of the Koran. The Qur’an is understood as a revelation that legalizes these actions. Then, is it true that the revelation of the Qur’an permits acts of violence that would harm many people? this article attempts to interpret the verses of the Koran that are justified as supporting verses of the above mentioned actions. Through the historical review of the verse (asbab an-nuzul), in fact none of the Qur’anic verses permit violence, terrorism and radicalism. As a revelation coming from the Lord of the universe, indeed the verses of the Koran precisely require creating peace for the whole of nature, not least the nature of Indonesia.

Men and women have the same right horizontally and vertically. Both have the same respect in the God’s eyes (QS. At-Taubah [9]: 71-72), and are not discriminated and subordinated to one another. But the problems of injustice and discrimination against women always happen, in which – one of them – is reflected in the marriage law (UUP). Several articles of this law have a gender bias and discrimination to women, such as the definition of marriage which doesn’t reflect equality between men and women, marriage age, the legalization of polygamy, etc. These articles are indeed contradictory with Islam that always promote justice and equality to all human being. This paper will try to explore issues of gender biased in marriage law with an Islamic approach. This article discusses and offers at the same time the issue of formalizing Islamic law in Indonesia. It started with a debate about the ideals of the formalization of Islamic law, which never ended. The debate about this has led to at least two significant views, namely fundamentalism and secularism. The first group believes that Islam is a religion that prepares solutions to all problems. In the context of Indonesians, such rules override local state laws, such as the 1945 Constitution and the Pancasila ideology. Meanwhile, the second group tried to give up religion in answering modern problems. This article uses a qualitative method, and two knives of analysis, namely socio-historical and maqāṣid of the Koran. This paper proves that the ideology of the State of Indonesia, namely Pancasila, contains substantive sharia values. The values of Islamic law are contained in every principle and are following the vision of Indonesian nationhood as a nation that harmonizes between Islam an...

Pada dasarnya, setiap manusia memiliki semangat untuk
mencintai negeri dan bangsanya sendiri. Mereka siap dan rela
mengorbankan apapun demi kemajuan bangsanya agar mampu
bersaing dengan bangsa-bangsa yang lain. Semangat demikian
dikenal dengan istilah nasionalisme. Sikap nasionalis sendiri
sempurna negeri Makkah.
