- Such sealing plugs are used to seal containers, in particular transport containers, for liquids which, due to their chemical nature and composition or under the influence of temperature, evaporate or develop gases. If the container was completely sealed, this would lead to an increase in the internal pressure of the container which could damage the container or at least loosen the closure so that liquid would leak out. This must be reliably prevented, in particular, if the liquid contained in the container is to be classified as dangerous goods or if the liquid is likely to become contaminated when the closure is released.
