Abstract

A preferably elongate and horizontal display panel provided with a flexible loop consisting of a number of webs bearing messages to be displayed during programmed pauses of the rotating loop. The loop rotates in a single direction and fits into a holder which can accommodate said loop even when it is very long and has a large number of messages, whereby said loop is fed into the holder and piles up in broad folds before gradually unfolding as it is moved on. Said display panel comprises novel and rational means for providing two-sided, illuminated, vertical, folding and therefore compactly storable embodiments.

The object of the present invention consists of a display panel which, used mainly on the perimeter of sports fields, serves to address to the public present or to those who attend the television transmission, messages written on canvases making up a annular band, rotating inside said panel. Currently, to communicate advertising messages, in particular in the sporting environment during the course of events, are used display panels there are several models of panels, all being able to present continuously several advertising messages, which follow one another according to programs and display times set in advance. Many of these panels have rotating belts on rollers, which operate alternately. This strip first turns in one direction then in the opposite direction, stops at regular intervals to allow the reading of the advertising messages it presents; can be replaced by other tapes with different advertising messages and requires very sophisticated message display programs.

These panels are constantly being studied, both to improve their use and to rationalize manufacturing, preparation, transport and storage.

Aims and advantages of the invention

The aim of the present invention is to produce a display panel equipped with a strip composed of several fabrics, presenting messages during the program stops, in addition able: always to turn in the same direction; to pass in a store capable of containing very long tapes and, consequently, carrying many messages; to arrive in the store, folded in large overlapping folds, so that. that these same folds can unfold in an orderly fashion as the store progresses; to be moved by new, more rational systems.

This goal was achieved by the creation of a display panel offering the following advantages:

- it reduces the movements that the other display panels impose on the bands carrying the advertising messages;

- it improves the scrolling, stops and starts of the strip composed of fabrics with which it is equipped;

- it improves the muovements that the band must accomplish, reducing the risks that the latter may be damaged;

- it makes manufacturing simpler;

- it makes the belt movements more precise thanks to the efficiency of its drive and braking systems;

- it is easier to transport and store;

- it simplifies message display programs;

- for the elements which connect the canvas forming the strip, it simplifies the composition of the latter and therefore the message display program;

- for the elements which connect the webs forming the strip to one another, it simplifies the reprinting operations of said webs, their reuse and the production on the spot of new programs;

- it can be fitted with a band made up of a single piece of canvas, carrying messages and slogans. Drawings

The first figure shows the exterior profile of a horizontal display panel, the second of a vertical display panel, the third shows the example of two display panels arranged horizontally, while the fourth shows how put in places the flexible annular strip 3, composed of several fabrics, which equips the display panel shown in fig. 5. These figures show how the subject display panels can be modified to meet different requirements, while maintaining the same operating characteristics.

In fig.5, we can see the display panel in its basic version, in other words in the version for the realization of which were used all the techniques which were subsequently used for the manufacture of the different variants of the display panel presented. It differs from other existing models in that it is fitted with band 3, an annular band made up of several fabrics, each carrying a message, always scrolling from top to bottom, with all the stops necessary for reading the messages.

Beginning with the description of the display panel in question from the point where the training of the strip 3 with which it is equipped takes place, it should be specified before all that the training is packed by rollers 5 and 10 , the 10 being driven by the self-braking motor 13 by means of the pulley 14, while the roller 5 maintains it in perfect adhesion to the first. The stop and breaks of the band 3 are obtained by means of said motor, assisted by the braking units 15, which act on the roller 1 and, directly, on the band 3. The motor 13 and the braking units 15 are commands by the same pulses, coming from one or more sensors arranged along the route that the strip must complete so that the messages can be displayed.

By the action of the drive rollers 10 and 5, the strip 3 runs in the direction indicated by the arrow N and leaves their contact without frowning or snagging because it is guided by the pulleys 9. The pulleys 9, of small thickness and limited width (see fig. 5 and 7), are also actuated by the rollers 5 and 10, the rollers free 6 ensuring correct tension. These free rollers 6, the position of which is adjustable and which, supported by the supports 7, are connected to the display plane 8 so that the strip 3 can fall into the magazine 2, folded over several times, in overlapping folds. The strip 3 falls and is put in place on the rollers 11, short, arranged alternately, spaces on the bottom of the magazine. These rollers 1.1 rotate empty on the shafts 12, thereby creating a horizontal running plane for the strip, which is put in place on said rollers and then is stretched to eliminate the folds as it rises, drawn towards the roller 1.

The roll 1, as can be seen in fig. 5, is installed in the high position, so that the strip 3, leaving the magazine 2, arrives on said roll 1 perfectly tensioned and prepared while it is being put in place on the roller 4 which keeps it properly stretched with the roller 5 during the display.

The strip 3 reaches the roller 1, as shown in this same figure, and passes at the same time under several braking units 15, with mechanical, magnetic or hydraulic actuation, fixed on the beam 17. These braking units 15 act on the strip 3 and are arranged according to its length.

The strip 3, after having been stretched and viewed on the display wall 8, again passes between the rollers 5 and 10 which drive it.

Rolls 1, 4, 5 and 10 are kept perfectly straight by means of several supports turning 16, arranged so as not to allow the slightest bending during rotation. These rotating supports 16 are always supported by robust beams 17, embedded in the sides of the display panel, profiled and made of cast metal, welded sheet metal, laminate-glass or molded plastic.

The large chest 18 is used to contain all the electrical and mechanical instruments fitted to the display panel.

The choice and the arrangement of the components of the display panel described above were adopted with a view to obtaining (with the necessary variations) the display panels forming variants of the one that was present.

The display panel shown in fig. 8 has two display plans 8 and, for this reason, they have two magazines 2, for two strips 3, as well as rolls, supports and units braking 15 double, while the motor 13 is one and has double pulleys 14 which maintain the movements of the bands 3 in the direction indicated by the arrows N. For this reason, the sides Y are perfectly identical.

The display panel shown in fig. 9 comprises, in addition to the elements described, the following elements: reflective profiled wall 19, lamps 20 and frosted and if possible unbreakable plane 21, on which a transparent strip 3 'passes. The messages can be read thanks to the lamps 20. The scrolling slide 22 of the strip 3 'improves the display panel, with the appropriate Z sides.

Fig. 10 shows the application of the elements shown and described above, used for the realization of the display panel, folding in this case, which folds up so as to have the size heads 23 and 24 placed side by side (see fig. 13). These heads are connected to several pairs of hydraulic cylinders 25, articulated at the points indicated by K, even capable of implementing the folding in question at the time of closing. If we observe, in fig.10, the section of the display panel, we can see that all the systems which implement the movement of the strip 3 and the movements of the two heads 23 and 24, have been grouped inside said heads. To do this, all the parts had to be arranged so as to respect the system.

In the lower head 24, there are the reels 26 and 27 on which the flexible walls 28 and 29 go, made of plastic or fabric; these walls serve to protect the parts of the display panel which remain uncovered. The reels 26 and 27 wind by means of springs and unroll said flexible walls: a rear 28 and two lateral 29. They protect the internal mechanisms, when the strip 3 is unrolled and closes the front part where the advertising messages must appear.

Fig. 10 also presents the display panel in question, in a higher and wider version compared to the display panels shown in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4. In this case, the heads are cast or stamped and joined to profiled sheets. To these are added: the roller 5 'for driving the strip 3 and the belts 43 which, fixed to the head 23, are wound and unwound on the roller 44 (with spring return), forming a division to keep the strip 3 inside the store 2.

Fig. 14 shows how the elements examined in fig. 5 were applied for the preparation of the folding display panel with heads 30 and 31, connected between them by several pairs of rods 32 and 33, articulated at all the points indicated by W, while W indicates the articulations having the profiled and movable ends in the guide rails 36 and 37. These pairs of rods 32 and 33, through the hydraulic cylinders 34 and 35 (see figures), implement the opening and closing of the display panel, reducing the size. In this case, the rods and cylinders used for the movements of the heads 30 and 31 are adapted to display panels having a very large display surface.

If we observe the sections DD and EE of the open and closed display panel, we can see that all the elements necessary for implementing the movements of the strip 3 are grouped in the two heads 30 and 31, with the cylindrical winders 38 and 39, used to close the exposed parts, or there is no strip 3, and wind and make possible the unwinding of the flexible plastic or fabric walls, two lateral 40 and one posterior 41, which protect and hide the internal mechanisms when the tape 3 is unrolled and only closes the front part, the one where the advertising messages should appear.

Figs. 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 show the display panel in question, endowed with molded faces or stamps and connected to profiled sheets. Added to this are: the roller 5 'for driving the strip 3 and the belts 43 which, fixed to the head 30, are wound and unwound on the roller 44 (with spring return). The belts 43 form a division which holds the strip 3 in the magazine 2.

Fig. 19 represents several fabrics 45, forming an annular and flexible band 3, or else transparent 3 ', all identical, having two parallel ends provided with the eyelets 46, separated by as many free spaces 47, the latter being slightly wider so as to allow the eyelets 46 to be inserted between them and each of them between two of the eyelets to which they mate. These eyelets 46, arranged in the manner indicated on the parallel ends of each fabric 45, are produced so as to be able to couple them, in order to obtain the union of all the fabrics 45 necessary to produce a single annular strip 3.

This junction, to keep attached a variable number of fabrics, is done by introducing into all the orifices next to each other (and thus creating a single and continuous slot), a flat rod 48 of metal or plastic, so as to ensure a good junction, without creating problems with regard to the movement that the fabrics must undergo passing between the drive rollers 5 and 10 in the display panels concerned.

1. Display panel and its variant embodiments, intended for the presentation of messages written on an annular and rotating strip, formed of webs, connected together by means of eyelets; costitue of heads with walls, of a revolving band made up of several fabrics, or of a single revolving band, of a drive roller, free rollers, supports, pulleys, braking units, supports and of several elements making it possible to connect the fabrics forming the strip; characterized by a flexible band (3), composed of several fabrics (45), forming a ring, which always turns in the same direction and which, during the stops to which it is subject, presents various messages.

2. Display panel, as in claim 1, characterized by the rollers (10 and 5), coupled, which implement the drive of the strip (3), the roller (10) being driven by a motor (13) by means of a pulley (14).

3. Display panel, as in claims 1 and 2, characterized by several free rollers (6), arranged so as to conduct the strip (3), so that the latter is brought into a store (2) in forming large overlapping folds, ready to unfold in an orderly fashion under the effect of the training.

4. Display panel, as in claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized by several pulleys (9), of the same width as the free rollers (6), driven by the rollers (5, 10 and 6), which guide the strip (3) when it detaches from the drive rollers, before being brought to the point where it falls into the magazine (2).

Display panel, as in claims 1, 2, 3 and 4, characterized by several protruding elements (7) serving to support the free rollers (6) which guide the strip (3), when detaches from the drive rollers and before it falls into the magazine (2), creating the folds which form continuously while it is in place on the rollers (11).

6. Display panel, as in claims 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, characterized by several free rollers (11), rotating on several shafts (12), installed at the bottom of the magazine (2), serving to facilitate the elimination of said folds and to stretch the strip.

7. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by a free roller (1), arranged so as to move the strip (3) back into place on the rollers (11) to bring it to the point or are exposed the advertising messages it carries.

8. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by several braking units (15), installed on the free roller (1), in order to improve the stopping and starting of the strip (3).

9. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by several beams (17), embedded in the sides (X, Y and Z) and in the heads (23, 24, 30 and 31) so as to keep perfectly aligned and ready to operate the braking units (15) of the roller (1) .

10. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by rotating rollers (1, 4, 5, 5 'and 10), held perfectly straight by several supports (16) installed at the points where the rollers are subject to flex.

11. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by several supports (16), in turn supported by side members (17), embedded in the sides (X, Y and Z) of the display panels fixed or in the heads (23, 24, 30 and 31) of the folding display panels.

15. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by the movable heads (23 and 24), which approach each other under the effect of several hydraulic cylinders 25, so as to reduce the size of the panel when not in use.

16. Display panel, as in the preceding claims, characterized by the movable heads (30 and 31), which approach each other under the effect of several articulated rods 32 and 33 moved by cylinders (34 and 35), guided by slides (36 and 37), so as to reduce the size of the panel when it is not in use.

17. Display panel, as in claim 1, characterized by a strip (3) composed of several identical fabrics (45), which are joined together by means of elements made up of eyelets (46) which are connected by means of a flat and rigid rod (48) which can pass between the drive rollers.

18. Display panel, as in claims 1 and 17, characterized by a strip (3) whose fabrics (45) have two parallel ends on which are arranged eyelets (46) used for folding and joining canvases between them.

19. Display panel, as in claims 1, 17 and 18, characterized by a strip (3) composed of fabrics (45) having eyelets (46) coupled to an equal number of free spaces (47) which, during the junction, receive the eyelets so as to obtain a canvas with continuous and parallel sides.

20. Display panel, as in claim 1, characterized by a rotating band, composed of a single canvas, carrying numerous indivisible messages and whose extreme edges are provided with eyelets (46) and free spaces (47), used to close the ring with the rod (48).
